One thing that struck me about NYC in general is how stellar the service is almost everywhere we went, but Carversteak in particular gives diners the star treatment. At one point the bartender came out to help describe a drink I was considering and lead me in the right direction. We started with a glass of complimentary sparkling wine to toast our upcoming anniversary. My smoked old fashioned was amazing. We had a heavy lunch at an Italian restaurant earlier so we each had one of the specials, wagyu skewers, and shared the potato flight. The wagyu skewers were amazing and came with a spicy aioli. It was an appetizer instead of an entree, which I hadn't realized at the time, but it left room for dessert later. My husband couldn't stop raving about the tater tots. We even enjoyed the sweet potato fries, and we usually don't like those. For dessert, he had a scoop of bourbon vanilla ice cream, and I had lime sorbet with a glass of Moscato. (5/5) I stumbled upon Carver's Steak thanks to a special offer through the InKind app, and what I expected to be a quick catch up over drinks turned into one of the most memorable hospitality experiences I've had in New York. It was pouring rain when we arrived, and before anything else, Jasmine greeted us with a warm smile and immediately offered a bag for my umbrella. It was such a small gesture, but it instantly made us feel welcome. Without a reservation, I assumed we'd be limited to the front dining area. Instead, we were led into a beautiful dining room tucked in the back with gorgeous lighting, artwork on the walls, and the perfect corner booth for two. Our server, Marie, was exceptional. She walked us through the menu, shared her genuine favorites, and never once pushed the most expensive items. It felt like getting recommendations from a friend rather than a sales pitch. We started with the martini flight, another cocktail, the small seafood tower, Wagyu skewers, and six oysters. The warm bread that followed was the perfect addition, and everything we ordered was delicious. Just when we were debating whether to order another drink or dessert, Brandi stopped by and asked if we enjoyed bourbon. Minutes later, she was tableside crafting an Old Fashioned from a beautiful cocktail cart. It was completely unexpected and made the evening feel even more special. As we were wrapping up, the team mentioned that the restaurant was part of a larger space and invited us to explore. We wandered upstairs and discovered an incredible collection of Broadway memorabilia, a live music venue, and even a private room filled with theater history. Then we made our way to the rooftop, where Willie welcomed us and showed us around. The views overlooking the Hudson River alone are worth the visit. What started as a casual girls' night became an experience we'll both remember. A recent evening at Carversteak was thoroughly enjoyable. The room has great energy -- lively atmosphere, good music -- and our server Mark was attentive and excellent throughout. The food was strong overall. Here's the breakdown: Excellent: The seared crab cake, wagyu beef skewers, and beet salad were all standouts. Honestly, those three dishes at the bar with one of their martinis might be the perfect night on its own. Very Good: The 8 oz filet mignon, branzino, and caviar potato popsicles all delivered. The popsicles were enjoyable, though at $48 they're more of a treat when someone else is picking up the tab. Needs Work: The Baked NYC dessert was the one clear miss. The Swiss meringue should be warm, crispy, and airy -- ours arrived cold and dense. A shame, because the strawberry pour-over and presentation were excellent. read more

Booked Saturday dinner here while in city for a long weekend. This is a newer steakhouse but for me - I have this ranked higher than several other places we have been to. All due respect, I think this is better than Sparks and Keens, both of which I found horrendously overrated. Anyway - We were sat in the atrium and had a younger guy - taller and bigger as our waiter. Started off with a standard old-fashioned rather than the table side old fashioned experience they provide upon request. It was good - made with Woodford. We went with splitting a caesar salad and the cheesesteak sliders as our starters. The caesar was standard but still very good. The Wagyu cheesesteak bites were.. INCREDIBLE. Reminded me of a comfort food and a mix between French onion soup and cheesesteak. Succulent meat, perfect cheese sauce and just a great item you have to try. For my entree I went with the filet medium. We shared mac and cheese and broccolini as sides and also got the sauce flight with bernaise, bourbon peppercorn and blue cheese sauce. All three were great. As dessert I went with the chocolate cake which was massive and very rich. Dark lighting, loud music and subtle comfort - an elegant looking place and the food backed up the fanciness. Well done. read more

Had a great dinner here after a broadway show. Our waiter was wonderful and the food was excellent. We got the ribeye, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and the broccolini. Also ordered a Negroni and an Aperol spritz. Everything was excellent. Steak had a great crust and was cooked properly. The mashed potatoes were phenomenal and the Negroni was one of the better ones I've had made for me. This place is also open late which is convenient when you're getting out of a show. read more

Carversteak just opened a month ago and I'm so happy it's here. The ambiance, the service, and the food were all amazing. They start with bringing out some pretzel loaf broad with a dijon mustard butter. The bread was soft and warm, and paired perfectly with the butter. For an appetizer, we had a Thai chili hamachi that they poured fresh coconut milk over when they served it. The flavor of the coconut milk mixed with the yellowtail was amazing. I had a 22oz ribeye for dinner and it was prepared perfectly. We also ordered four sides (asparagus, mac & cheese, potato puree, french fries) and I can't call one out that was best, we enjoyed them all. Before your steak arrives, they bring out a set of knives for you to choose from. I chose a beautiful damascus steel knife. Overall it was an amazing experience! read more

Applause to the great staff especially Lena the lovely manager who took amazing care of our family from start to finish!!! We came here to celebrate my husband's birthday as a family of three. Nestled in a bustling area of Hell's Kitchen, this upscale restaurant is a breath of fresh air and quite the hidden gem with grand architectural/decorative features not only in the main dining area but a few other floors above! We dined in the back of the first level which had a lovely view of the atrium section which would be wonderful in which to sit next time we visit :) Great touch to have guests choose their knives from an interesting assortment! Mark well presented them!! Caleb also was wonderful in helping to clear and reset our table! We tried: Oysters - husband LOVED and said so fresh and even one was sweet. Hamachi - excellent! Son and I shared and enjoyed. Flavors amazing and freshly prepared. Wagyu burger/fries - teen son loved. NY Strip Steak - while hubs prefers the traditional steakhouses like Quality meats & Keens, husband enjoyed this dish. Proscuitto peach salad - I enjoyed as so delish! Broccolini - spicy and well presented/prepared - gobbled up by teen and hubs and teen can be picky! Chocolate layer cake was complimentary from Lena for hubs' birthday (THANK YOU LENA!!!) and this cake was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Not artificially overly sweet at all but smooth and had just the right amount of chocolate deliciousness. While rich looking, it did not taste overwhelming. Afterwards we toured the cocktail bar upstairs and saw lovely outdoor spaces overlooking trees and a few back areas for parties/groups (Thank you Alyssa & Megan for showing us around!) and they encouraged us to view the rooftop area which had a gorgeous view of the city!!! Was excited to try Carversteak as we did like the previous restaurant Rosevale Kitchen which is attached to the Citizen Hotel. Love the bar there and the vibe. Super renovations made this space transform into a higher end feel. Women at the door were lovely when greeting us and we were off to a great start! Our server Dario I think was the top server there from what I saw. Super attentive, not pushy and upselling just truly wanted to offer a great experience. He guided us well and didn't rush us at all. We actually started with the Caesar salad and the mini waygu cheesesteaks before we even ordered our dinner. Both were very good. Those mini cheesesteaks are insanely delish. They have someone with a cart that offers a drink experience. She came over was very sweet but we decided to just order from the bartenders and not partake in the cart service. I do appreciate how she shared th prices, so ty for that!! For dinner we split a Mac and cheese and a Kansas City. Mac is super cheesy in a good way topped with breadcrumbs and steak was cooked absolutely perfect. Shockingly we ordered dessert as it we were celebrating the hubbs birthday. Amazing new addition to midtown - finally good martinis in the area! Happy to find it.

This is a great venue to have a pre-broadway show dinner. It's only 6 minutes away from Broadway theaters and it's in a quiet neighborhood. The interior has a high ceiling, well-lit setting and spacious, unlike the steak houses in CA that are usually dark with low beam settings. I ordered from the pre-theater menu which was flavorful and delicious with nice presentation as well. My son ordered from the regular menu which he also enjoyed although they didn't bring his chimichurri as the sauce. We shared the appetizer and dessert that was included in my pre-show menu, good enough to share with another person and he also ordered a dessert that was shared. From beginning to end we enjoyed it all. Our drinks from zero-proof menu were also delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive especially Ali (not sure of the spelling) she made us feel special. She brought a case of steak knives to choose from for your dinner. That was awesome and a lovely treat. I greatly appreciate that touch. We will be back when we visit NYC again. The Lovely Lady Martini I had was just the perfect mix of sweet, yet spirit forward, and the steaks just melted in your mouth. I stopped in to Carversteak for a late night dinner. I cannot say that I am impressed as the yelp* community. The restaurant is very attractive, and the soundtrack very 80's. I began with a Lobster Bisque special. It was delicious. I ordered a Filet Mignon as my main. It was tasty, but very small. You'll have a choice of five different knives to cut your Steak. A bit too fussy for my taste. A glass of Sangiovese helped compliment my dinner. Bathrooms are located in the basement, and you'll need a road map to find them. My bill was larger than usual, and although it was a good experience, I don't think that I'll be returning. read more

My husband and I went to Carversteak to celebrate one of our anniversaries. I work relatively close but i had never her of the steak house because its brand new. However, this is NOT just a steakhouse, it's an actual experience - so much care and attention to detail was given to our time there. Jazz the Sommelier was friendly and very knowledgeable at wine suggestions (which were robust) and even offered us complimentary champagne to celebrate. Our server, Marie, was a STAR. Her energy and vast knowledge of the menu were impressive; we took almost all of her suggestions and were not disappointed. The meal was great, from the perfectly cooked T-bone steak to the off-menu warm cheesecake. They really make you feel special. Carver Steakhouse ALSO offers an Old Fashioned experience like I've never had before - Brandee was our mixology queen and created table-side service with the bourbon of our choice. Lastly, we were given a tour of the building, which includes a museum of Broadway paraphernalia and a BEAUTIFUL rooftop with the most epic NYC skyline views. There is a blue bourbon room and even a photobooth to capture the perfect memory. When I head back to my homeland in London from the US I especially like to book a few of the nicest high end restaurants with friends. It's a special rare treat and don't care how much I spend, Usually £200 each or so, so probably even higher end than this place. They never make me feel like i don't belong which was the vibe I got from some of the Carversteak staff. I was dressed okay, linen shirt and shorts in this 100 degree heat. Others were dressed similarly to me and seemed to use fewer manners!! The food was stunning, crab cake and then a steak entree. I just felt looked down upon. I had a $100 food credit from the hotel that forms part of the building. So what would anyone do, you have a cocktail and a couple of courses in their nicest place to eat. At the end the waiter Ben could see I had just signed the receipt and was ready to leave but still said to me loudly "do you want me to apply your coupons" like he was shaming me for using them! I had tipped 25% of the full $102 check so I wasn't being cheap. I went on a Friday night with my fiancé, and from start to finish, the experience was amazing. The service truly stood out, Alison (Allie) was incredibly kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. She gave great recommendations and made us feel genuinely welcomed throughout the night. At first glance, the space seems a bit small, but once you're inside, it opens up into something much more impressive. There are speakeasy-style areas, hidden details, and so many thoughtful touches that make the whole place feel unique and exciting. We honestly kept discovering new things as the night went on. Possibly the worst service and meal in the Theater District in the last 30+ years. We arrived for a 6pm reservation a minute or two early. We were greeted by a hostess who had our table ready and asked if we had any time constraints. We explained we had an 8pm show a few minutes away. She said plenty of time. She didn't know how wrong she was. The waiter greeted us and asked what time we would like to leave for the theater. We responded 7:40. Be also said no problem. We waited 25 minutes for our drinks. 45 minutes for bread. We inquired numerous times about our appetizers but the response was the are expediting our food. After an hour and numerous complaints we cancelled our entrees and awaited our appetizers. Some of the appetizers arrived, they looked pleasing but they tasted average at best. The final appetizers finally arrived and were ice cold. How was this even possible??? The Manager offered to feed us dinner at 10:30 after our show and comped what we had eaten but honestly NYC has some of the best food in the world. There are dozens of fantastic restaurants in the theater district that have stood the test of time and deliver consistent food and service with a smile. Do yourself a favor if you're reading this review....choose someplace else. We left the restaurant and walked over to one of the pizza places in Times Square so we could eat before dinner.
