Went to the Eagle to watch the Lions game. Food and drinks were great. Shira was our server and was amazing- definitely ask for her!

I love The Eagle, and frequent the Bardstown location in Louisville. This was my first visit to the Detroit location. I loved it! I was visiting Detroit for the first time in 20 years, and was astounded by the revitalization. Great to see an amazing restaurant like The Eagle added to the city's comeback. Our meal was superb (the Fried Chicken BLT was to die for), and the ambience was great (there was a birthday party going on that had the whole place jumping). Our server Maria was excellent (the best I've had at any of the three Eagles I've been to), and the manager came over and chatted too. All in all, an excellent time in an excellent restaurant. What a great find. First time visiting and I can't say enough good things. The atmosphere is very chill. It's perfect actually. It's not overly done and it's not a chicken shack kind of place either. Just comfortable. Our server Megan was excellent. Knew the menu, was friendly and right on point. Hats off to her and the manager for the service experience. Now the best part....... The food! The fried chicken was amazing. Crispy on the outside, excellent seasoning and moist and tender on the inside. We also had the fried chicken sandwich and it was awesome. You have to try the spicy honey too. An excellent enhancement for the chicken. On Megan's advise we also got the Mac n Cheese and the spoon bread. They were terrific. Smooth, velvety sauce and spiral pasta and moist tender corn bread with a delicate maple butter, both cooked and served in a cast iron skillet. For starters, we had the chicken dip which set the stage for a wonderful dinner. Check out the Eagle! You won't be disappointed. You will be full and you won't pay an arm and a leg. read more

What a great new gem we found! My husband is from southern VA and I try to find places that offer some good southern food and finding The Eagle made him so happy. Not only was everyone so friendly, the food was the closest we've gotten to yummy southern food. They just opened this location in September, so everything inside still looks clean and inviting. Tonya was so sweet and walked through the menu with us. The grilled cheese did not disappoint but that pressure fried chicken that they do, is amazing. Still has some crisp to it on the outside but man is is juicy on the inside and the brine they use is fantastic! They have a really nice long list of yummy sounding sides. The seasoning of the succotash is great, the shrimp and grits had an amazing flavor to them as well (shrimp were overcooked) but our favorite was the collard greens. Cooked with ham hocks and ACV it was salty but tart with the perfect touch of Smokey. Hands down best southern dish we've gotten up here and we will for sure be coming back! read more

Saturday afternoon. it was at maybe 1/3 to 1/2 capacity. they sat 6 adults and 2 kids at a small table. needed double the table size. no big deal. took forever to get us waters. after ordering beers and drinks, took FOREVER to bring them to us. we ordered the kids food with drinks to get them in, kids were starving. hinted twice that they were starving. still took forever. our meals took FOREVER and we were starving after an event at LCA. food was really good! I. Can't. Believe. how. slow. every. thing. was. put a damper on the experience. probably wouldn't go back tbh. it was that slow. Sucks because ambiance/vibe is really cool too. the food and overall ambiance of this restaurant was stellar. We came here before a red wings game and were quickly greeted and seated. Our service was phenomenal! Our waitress Ashanti was great, super positive and helpful when ordering! The menu is on the smaller side, but mainly because they know what they can do, and they do it well. We got two drinks; the blackberry lemonade and the mint and rye. The blackberry lemonade was a 9.5/10, just the right amount of sweetness and not too strong. The mint rye was a 7.5/10 a bit bitter but a nice twist on a classic whiskey and rye! For main courses we indulged in the fried chicken sandwich, the fried chicken BLT, and the braised pork sandwich. The fried chicken sandwich was MOUTHWATERING. perfectly crispy chicken paired with a soft rustic bread. The chicken BLT you can't go without! The avocado relish was the icing on the cake. The braised pork sandwich was like butter, and melted in your mouth in one bite. For sides we ordered the spoon bread, mac and cheese, and French fries. The spoon bread has the crispy sides and pieces of caramelized corn bits in the middle, all topped with a melted maple butter. The mac and cheese had almost a bacon kick to it. It was amazing! We liked how it appeared they took al dente noodles and took their famous 5 cheese sauce, spread it on top and garnished with a healthy helping of garlic breadcrumbs. The fries were fried beautifully and had a house seasoning on it. Make sure to ask for a side of their lemon thyme ranch because it was a great combination with the fries! First of all, I had never heard of pressure fried chicken! It was my first time visiting Detroit and the eagle was nice enough to welcome us without the RSVP that you need to make. The service was great. We arrived at 4 pm when they just opened and they seated us immediately without a reservation. The chicken was well seasoned, and the hot honey served as a great compliment. The macaroni and cheese had undercooked noodles and did not bake long enough. The sweet potatoes had diced potatoes that were undercooked as well. The cornbread was good. I had an apricot martini which was very good. Our server Eli was very attentive, and constantly checked to make sure we were okay. Okay so let me say this. I would only rate this place a 3.5 based off of the SERVICE and food timing. The restaurant is pretty small for the service to take forever. The server we had seemed like she was having a bad day. But baby the food was DELICIOUS. Chicken was so juicy. The manager ended up giving me a gift card for the inconvenience. Chicken sandwiches were great! One of the better chicken sandwiches I've had. Mac n cheese was creamy but the noodles were a bit too al dente for my liking. Spoon bread was tasty. Bottom layer has some real corn and spices which is nice with the sweetness of the maple syrup. read more

I was excited to try the eagle. unfortunately I was a bit disappointed that the chicken was lightly fried, almost baked, in my opinion. when I think of fried chicken I enjoy a crunch or a crisp and that did not exist. Also I ordered drumsticks and was sad to know they no longer had any. HOWEVER the chef or someone did come to our table and ask what substitute I would like and threw in extra pieces. The Mac N cheese was not a fav. My husband did enjoy the chicken sandwich and the fries were really good. Also shout to China, our waitress who was able to help us understand the menu and enjoy our time. Again it wasn't a terrible experience, I just wouldn't rave about returning. read more

First off, the fried chicken was some of the best I ever had in my life. Crunchy, juicy, flavorful, all that. I highly recommend. The sides were really good as well. I had the mac and cheese, succotash, biscuits, and hush puppies. I enjoyed all of it especially the succotash and the biscuits. The blackberry jam that comes with the biscuits is tasty! The mac and cheese was the low point of the sides for me. It was alright, just not the best. The wait staff was incredibly nice. Multiple people who weren't even serving my table kept asking how we were doing and how was the food. Id truly rate this a 4.5/5. I will be recommending this spot and coming back. I am a native Detroiter with southern roots and a soul food appetite. I say all of that to say that I absolutely love the Eagle's fried chicken! It taste like homemade, its crispy and well seasoned. The spoon cornbread was also a pleasant tasty and unique surprise with a slightly sweet and moist texture. Chose the collards as my side to compliment the meal and loved the texture and taste. The manager Travis, as well as the servers are very accommodating, friendly, attentive. That and the tasty food makes your visit enjoyable. I have been twice in a two week period and will keep it as one of my go to restaurants. read more

First time here. Group of 4 stopped in for a late lunch before going to Little Caesars Arena last weekend. Had the Chicken BLT, some sides and the Iced Tea. The sandwich was full of flavor with a little kick. I never finish my meals but this one I did. The iced tea tasted fresh brewed (sweet tea version was too sweet so just the plain iced tea for me). The receptionist and our server were very nice. Very comfortable inside. Highly recommend especially if you are going to LCA since it is very close. read more
