    All Hail Caesar salad
    Katy C.

Cork & Gabel and the nearby businesses have a free shuttle to Ford Field for home Lions games, so Nate and I met up with a friend for brunch before hopping on the shuttle. The shuttle is included with the purchase of 2 drinks or you can buy a ticket for $5. The parking lot at Cork & Gabel is free to park in, and it was easy for us to get on the highway to head home after we got back. Super convenient and so much cheaper than paying for closer parking. Our shuttle driver Darryl was great and on time! We had an awesome server at Cork & Gabel and a tasty brunch. We were seated outside on the patio but they have a shaded area, which was nice for the 80 degree day! I got the Caesar salad which was perfectly dressed and had lots of cheese. Nate got the garden omelette, which was super tasty and had plenty of feta. I loved it. I did laugh at the potatoes because it was just 3 boiled baby red potatoes on the side - not really what I think of for breakfast potatoes but honestly the rest of the food was delicious. Drinks were strong and they had some interesting cocktails on their menu. Coffee was also available. I would definitely go here again even if we weren't in need of the shuttle!

I've eaten here twice now, and I have to say -- I love the vibe. This place sits right in the middle of a happening part of the Detroit scene. From the outside, you'll notice a big, heavy, very cool door -- almost hidden -- which adds to the speakeasy feel when you finally step inside. They have a great craft beer selection, too. I tried one that tasted exactly like Skittles -- playful, bright, and absolutely delicious. The fish and chips were a total home run: crispy, flavorful, and comforting in the best way. The little donut dessert was amazing -- light, warm, and addicting. And don't even get me started on the chicken pasta... truly to die for. Every dish hit the mark. Its location is special as well -- just down from the old Tiger Stadium and right across from the beautifully restored Michigan Central Train Station, which makes a stunning backdrop for your dining experience. They also have a very cool outdoor space that looks perfect for private parties -- hip, spacious, and stylish. Bonus: they offer private parking, which is a huge win in this area. I honestly can't wait to go back. Great food, great vibe, and a slice of Detroit energy done right.

    Calamari - very good

My wife and I came here for an early dinner ahead of a Tigers game. We were about 50/50 on liking this place. My wife had the Cajun beef tips, which she loved. Great flavor and a very large portion - she couldn't eat it all. I, on the other hand, ordered the Schnitzel BLT, mainly because I wouldn't get this meal anywhere else. Was hoping for something wonderful but was left deeply unimpressed. The bread was burnt and the sandwich itself was incredibly dry. I mean DRY. In order for me to consume it, I had to deconstruct the entire thing and just ate the schnitzel and bacon. Lesson learned. We also had the calamari as an appetizer, which we both liked. The bartenders were friendly and responsive and the place is pretty cool inside, but this was a 1 and done for me. Regarding the business reaching out...I was not asked if I wanted something different. I was told however 'you should have told me'. I was hungry so I wasn't looking for a replacement. Perhaps someone should have noticed the black crust before bringing it out? Just a thought. Appreciate the quick response though. Thanks for that

I enjoyed my experience at cork and gabel . It was a busy football game day. Standard setting with a lot of brown wood. My food was delicious and the spread for my toast tasted homemade in the best possible way. Everything was fresh and my mimosa with ginger was outstanding!!! I forgot to grab photos of my food but my western omelette was super tasty.

Fantastic food! I loved the lamb bolognese. Wow!!!! Perfection! The sauce is incredible. The citrus cream on top was lovely. My friend enjoyed her döner kebab and fries. Delicious cocktails. I had the Two Pumps and my friend had the She Told Me She Loves Me and we enjoyed both. The servings are generous so we didn't need an appetizer. I appreciate the free parking lot. Great location in Corktown, right by the Michigan Central Station. Spacious interior. There is a back room in case the main room fills up. Cozy vibes with warm lighting. Courtney provided excellent service and made great recommendations. I look forward to coming back.

Stopped by the Cork & Gabel for dinner after visiting the train station. The server was very attentive and accommodating! The pretzel appetizer and salad tasted delicious! There was background music but it did not make it difficult to hear our conversation!

Apple a day cocktail. So yummy. Had the burger it was great. Ariana was our waitress and she was wonderful. Neat place.

Great Ambience and wonderful service. Lots of options on the menu. We will be back. Burger was perfect. Drinks were great. Good music.

Not my favorite spot. Doris approved but on your own risk. Don't go here for food or service. Food isn't worth it. There's not one thing I'd tell you to try. Three apps. Three mains- nothing to write home about and I sent my pasta back. It was so spicy I choked on it. The vibe is cool. Where you can go in and be silly and be yourself. No need to dress up. Drink are good and priced for the strength.

Our group of six happened to go here after an afternoon Tigers Game. I'm giving it five stars as it hit multiple check boxes for food, service and ambiance for the type of place it was. I like what another reviewer wrote; something along the lines that "it was approachable and not pretentious ". That's exactly how we found it-a cool, industrial building very near the renovated train station. The O.F.A.F cocktail was outstanding. We've never seen a smoked infused bourbon drink in a box-clever. The wings, crab cake and fried cheese were all shared as an appetizer and were quite delicious. I won't describe each entree we had, but we tried the Crab cake, chicken Marcella, Caesar salad with chicken, schnitzel BLT, wings and pub salad-all were very generous in size and were very tasty. We shared the waffle dessert and the doughnut dessert-two incredibly delicious concoctions. We'll be back.

Went here for the first time with my friend. I was impressed. The service was very good. I had the special of the night- encrusted walleye. It was very tasty! My friend had the steak siciliano. She really liked it. I tried it but it tasted a bit vinegary to me. Had the bread with the 3 dips. It was ok but wouldn't order that again. I think next time I will get the lamb pasta (not looking at menu so I forget what they call it). The chocolate waffle with ice cream was yummy. I will go back. Fun atmosphere.

First, the place is so welcoming. Several different rooms as well as the outside patio, which has bocce ball. It was too warm & humid for us, so we sat inside at a table near the bar. The servers were all very friendly; it seemed a different person brought each course. We had the bread service and calamari for an appetizer. The bread and herb butter were very good, and I understand that it does cost the restaurant to serve it, but $7 seemed like a lot to me. I also enjoyed the calamari. I had the pasta Bolognese (they had some other name for it), which is one of my favorite kinds of pasta. This did not disappoint. I loved the super wide papardelle noodles (also a favorite!) and the small scoop of cheese (burrata, maybe?) on top. My sister had the mushroom pizza (also with a different name). She enjoyed it as well. I am glad they decided to take us there; it was all very good and in a nice atmosphere as well.

If everything is as good as what we ordered this time, I can't wait to try more! Firstly, the natural lighting in here is just fantastic, and I really like the layout - you have a bit more space than some of the other downtown restaurants, and it's fairly quiet. Nice cozy booth seating as well as chairs. The gated parking lot is also a huge plus downtown and service was absolutely excellent. We came on a Sunday to try their all day happy hour, and it did not disappoint. $2 oysters meant that we ordered 2 dozen, and while the east coast varieties tend to be our favorite, their west coast selection was also top notch. Just lovely, salty, briny fresh oysters with a great mignonette. We also both ordered dirty martinis, and they're perfect for $8. We also had the focaccia which comes with this amazing tomato pesto - it tasted like pizza concentrated into a sauce. Yum! And the focaccia is perfect - the kind of bread that makes you remember why bread is so good. Pillowy and soft inside, toasted crispy outside; an amazing app. For dinner, we had the squid ink and seafood pasta, the wild striped bass and the lamb. Everything was absolutely so delicious and perfectly cooked. They split the pasta for us, which was very nice, and I just can't get over the delicious unique flavor of that dish. Outstanding. This pasta is the kind of pasta you want to order when you go out. Lots of yummy seafood, perfectly seasoned al dente pasta, savory sauce. The bass was the most perfectly cooked piece of fish I've had in a long time - crispy skin, tender moist flesh, buttery sauce. And lastly, I was super impressed with the lamb - it was tender yet crispy on the edges, savory and satisfying. If a seafood restaurant is doing lamb this well, I've got to see what else they have to offer. Can't wait to try the tasting menu. Even hubby was impressed and had zero complaints about anything, and he's tough to please. What a gem of a restaurant.

My first impression: Noisy! Lots of hard surfaces. Difficult to hear the hostess, server and my wife. The tables were appropriately spaced for diners and servers to work with no bump & grind. We started by sharing a dozen oysters and the pear/walnuts salad. The oysters were a bit small-ish; but otherwise, excellent. Server took a drink order from my wife, but skipped me. Eh? I flagged down another server to order a Pino. It took a surprisingly long time to arrive. On the plus side, I was offered a taste to insure it was satisfactory - it was. The pear salad w/walnuts was excellent. The pears were sliced paper-thin. One of the joys of eating a properly ripened pear is the juicy explosion and thinly sliced pears defeat the juicy explosion. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.

Let me say, this was such a fun experience, great company, great food and great service. Cibo Detroit has such an amazing vibe, well lit, bringing in a peaceful but fun energy and great art decor, making it feel very upscale. The food matched the ambience, everything was delicious. The brussel sprouts had the perfect amount of char, the steak was very tender. This is definitely a place we'd go back to at some point!

We came around 5pm so it was still during their new happy hour (4-6, M-F) we ordered some cocktails which were tasty. Cocktails were all $12 during happy hour. We also got two apps from the HH menu, and one app from the regular menu. The pizza tasted like it came from a pizza oven which was great, the palomino dip was rich with flavor, and the shrimp had a great flavor to them. For entrees we got the salmon, meatball, and crab orchettie, probably spelled wrong lol all had good flavor. The polenta with the meat ball was a bit flavorless but over all good. When our bill came we noticed there was 15% gratuity already added and a 5% "service fee" also noticed the HH prices weren't applied. Our waitress did fix it quickly, which was appreciated. Overall a good dinner and will be back to try the brunch.

It's a smaller restaurant, but they make efficient use of the space by utilizing the bar and pizza area for seating. Upon getting there, we were greeted by extremely friendly staff. They did not have any tables available, but they would soon. They told us to walk around, and they would call us. They did, and we had a table within 30 minutes. Every bite of food we ate was divine! The limoncello wings were some of the best wings I have had. I usually don't get excited over calamari, but this calamari was fantastic. Our entrees were extremely delicious. What is not pictured is the octopus appetizer that my son got. Holy moly this was one of the best things we ordered!! I highly recommend this place and will be back on my next visit to Detroit!

I just wanted a quick lunch before heading out later and ended up having a great experience. The bar was pretty lively for a Friday afternoon, even before work officially ended, but I was still able to snag a seat. The staff was super friendly, which made it even better. I ordered the vodka chicken parm along with a drink special since happy hour was just starting. The portion was massive, easily one of the biggest chicken parms I've had, and it came with a full serving of spaghetti. For around $25, the value was excellent. Super filling and really well done. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area. Great Italian food and great value.
