This is a spot I would visit over and over again if I were a local. We'll start right at the front door. Great service ! We were greeted promptly everyone was wearing a face mask (COVID-19) they let us know we would be seated soon. Met the server he was great wish I knew his name. I told him we had never been there before and he explained the menu and told us all the hot items! We started with the hush puppies yep just like he said DELICIOUS, so most with a little spice and well just yum! Then we got a half a chicken to split with me and my partner in crime for the wknd she had macaroni and cheese and sweet potatoes. I usually don't like Mac and cheese at restaurants cause they just seem flavorless . Idk if it was the cheese or the way it was put together but it was amazing! I wasn't a big fan on the sweet potatoes but she liked them . I got the succotash and horseradish mashed potatoes. I loved both my sides as well but nothing topped that Mac n cheese. The chicken was so moist and crispy with a little spice to it so delicious and the spicy honey just topped it. Needless to say we almost needed to be rolled out the door. Everything was fantastic! The wait list for seating utilizes phone text for alert which is nice for long waits, since it allows you to visit the shops on Bardstown. The ambiance is a mix of casual and classy, but comfortable. The outdoor seating area allows for dogs which is my favorite feature. There's two full bars, one toward the front and one in the back. People are eating and hanging out too, which makes it cozy, like you can just talk to strangers and become friends. Now the best part, the FOOD!!! The chicken is crunchy and a little spicy on the outside, tender and juicy on the and goes perfectly with the spicy honey. I don't even like Mac and cheese, (usually makes me gag) but tonight I ate it like I'd never tasted food before. The greens are delicious, the spoon bread had me swooning....and on and on. It's also extremely affordable. And the right person serving this tasty and comforting meal was Mr. Big John. Every time has been fantastic. This past Saturday we came for a birthday party and Sean and a new hire trainee was fantastic. They handled our party of 20 seamlessly. Food was fantastic as usual. The way they interacted with us made the 2 hour experience fly by. Came back with some work employees for lunch yesterday and again, seem less. The food was superb! The mashed potatoes were outstanding, as were the collards. Chicken was super flavorful with just the right amount of breading. I had the maple old fashioned and it was one of the best old fashioned's I had the whole time on my Kentucky vacation. Staff was awesome and friendly from the hosts to our server. The food and service was awesome. Before I went to "The Eagle" I read the reviews here on Yelp. The Kale salad with shrimp was great. I ordered the 1/2, but the whole with shrimp would have been enough for a 6'4" 235lb such as myself. We also ordered chicken, PO Boy shrimp sandwich with Mac and cheese, fries, spoon cornbread for our sides. The next visit I will try the bbq pork sandwich. The Eagle has the best food in Louisville, and the best fried chicken I've ever had anywhere in the world. 20 years in the Army, I've been to a lot of places. Not many can compare to this. Great food and great service. The honey added to the chicken tops everything off. The macaroni and cheese is better than my mom's, which use to be my favorite. The biscuits and jam are perfect. After spending the day at Kentucky Kingdom we where starving. Being from out of town we wanted something new to try. And The Eagle was just that. We ate so much we rolled out to our car. When I say mouth watering, our taste buds where on a rollar coaster of flavors. We ALL shared the fried chicken, spoon bread, horseradish mashed potatoes, collard greens and seasoned fries. Oh and let me tell you the warm honey that comes out with you chicken is amazing. A must! And the spoon bread! Hot, sweet and it makes your mouth drool literally. There was NO leftovers. As an out of town visitor I found this place to be fun, casual, with awesome food! I recommend starting with the sausage kale cheese dip, Amazing! If you plan to go overboard on the chicken and sides do it with caution as it will fill you up. The fried chicken is moist, well seasoned and the spicy honey sends it over the top. I was partial to the sweet cornbread as well as the cheesy mac for my sides. If your a local to the area you have a gem of a place. Out of town visitors should make this a must eat place. read more

Mice by my feet and no charge. Now that I have your attention let me fill you in on the worst experience I've ever had at any place that has a server. We started off ignoring the terrible reviews on how bad the staff was because the good reviews talked about how good the food is. Well it's a shame but this place is not worth your money. It's beautiful inside and someone has spent a lot of time and money on making it so but you wouldn't know based on the wait staff. We were the only table being seated and before our order was taken everyone else not at the bar were already gone. It took close to 10 minutes before anyone said a word to us at the table. We immediately ordered our food with our beer because we didn't want to sit there all night waiting for someone to show. After another 7-10 minutes of waiting I had to go fetch our drinks at the bar since the waiter was no where to be found. They were there, getting warm, but no help in sight. When the waiter arrived who took the order in the first place he noticed our beers and actually had the nerve to tell us he didn't know we were here? What? You took our order.. I told him it's fine I went and got them for him so he took them off the bill. The woman who sat us brought us a complimentary appetizer which wasn't even fresh. It was clear she gave us an older dish to make peace and it was not appreciated. Eventually the food came out and I took the attached photos in hopes to leave a review about the food and make a mention of the poor staff and to enter cautiously but then what happens? After eating half our food a mouse walks up very comfortable to our table eating food on the ground. Most mice would not be that comfortable unless they are used to people so that was disgusting enough we moved to the bar and left our food. The server asked us if we wanted to sit somewhere else and to be decent about it I told him quietly yes because there was a mouse eating by our table. His reaction was the reason why I leave this message. He could care less. He literally said ok. Didn't apologize, wasn't shocked, was not concerned and made no reaction to show that this somehow was an irregular occurrence. 5 minutes later he came back and told us our bill was scrapped and we didn't owe anything. I would never ever try this place if I were you. It's disgusting how filthy the building is, how lazy the staff is and how uncaring the manager on duty was with our cold appetizer and the fact that she never approached us about the mouse incident. If I was the owner of this place I would literally and figuratively clean house. Do yourself a favor and pass on this. It may ruin your experience of Louisville and there are way better places we enjoyed that shouldn't be associated with The Eagle. read more

I loved this place! Their menu is excellent and all the food was great. The drink menu is extensive and delicious as well! Their homemade cocktails were delicious and this place has a really cool industrial rustic interior. We didn't sit on the giant lighted patio but there were lots of people out there so I assume it's great too. This may have been one of the best meals I have ever had. The service was beyond amazing. We arrived with a large party and no reservation and the staff at The Eagle did everything they could to seat us in a timely manner. Pulled out the stops! Fresh, flavorful, loved how they prepared it, not bitter or tough at all. Made me feel better about inhaling 3 pieces of fried chicken at lunch! Friendly fast service. Ambience was nice - I asked to be seated, but was made to sit at a bar. I don't like sitting at a bar, looking at sports screens. Then when I arrive at the bar, the seat is FILLED with a liquid, we didn't notice it - I sat in it, stained my white pants & my pants remained wet for my next business meeting. Bartender was nice - but he sort of yells to others nearby to catch them - and I'm hearing all that in my ear because I'm at the bar. I am deducting a point for all that. The restaurant was not full, and they didn't want me to sit elsewhere and it detracted from my experience. I still recommend this restaurant and hats off to the chef. read more

Ok... as a result of the last 2 visits, The Eagle has FINALLY won me over. YES!!! I am so happy! One thing I have really noticed on these previous visits is the communication from staff. Service has been above and beyond friendly but by no means obtrusive. However, I am most excited to note the improvement in the food (specifically the fried chicken) over my previous visits that I rated this place 3 stars over. I am happy to say that whatever they are doing now is a vast improvement over the past! The breading on the chicken the previous 2 visits has been crispy and not greasy. I really enjoy the kick of spice that is in the breading and the little bits of fried (rosemary?) that tag along in the batter with the chicken. Delish! I think that I have to say that The Eagle has probably entered my top 10 list of fried chicken places. For those that had reservations about coming here due to the lack-luster chicken in the past, fear not! The situation has been remedied. Come get yourself some delicious fried chicken, some delightful spoon bread (HIGHLY recommend... I should be a bottle of maple syrup as much as I enjoy it!) and some horseradish mashed taters (I don't even like horseradish and I could put one of these down myself... oh so good!). Good food with a deceptive menu. You are seated in this cool hip restaurant and handed a menu thinking you have tons of options on food.... nope! The actual food selection is quite small with a large drink menu. With that said, we very much enjoyed our food. The chicken is a bit on the spicy side even on the kids menu but it was tasty! Every time my wife and I have a date here, it is fantastic. My rating has a lot to do with the food, which is amazing. We like the inside and it is great to be able to make reservations, you will have to call. We sat close to the bar/entrance both times and it wasn't loud and didn't have that sports bar feel. Their fried chicken sandwich and fries are really good. I need you to order that for yourself, to good to pass up. Coke Zero is one of my favorite non-alcoholic drinks and they have it to serve.
