Absolutely delicious it was Barsol pisco, deep eddy ruby red vodka, lime, ginger beer, fennel bitters and topped with a paprika salt and served in a clay cup ( which kept it nice and cold). Then we ordered the buffalo wings !!! mmmmm !!!! Served with a Smokey blue cheese dressing and it was phenomenal! Wings cooked perfect!!!! Next was the crab biscuit!! Jumbo lump crab tossed with cherry tomato and grilled corn and basil. Over home made mini biscuits !!! My girlfriend doesn't like crab and she loved this dish!!!! Our last dish was the calamari which also was awesome!!! It was a light coating which I love and tossed with pickled peppers and an aioli sauce!! Delicious!!! Nice and light. This place is great. Stopped in at 3pm on a Sunday for a quick drink and had the Where There's Smoke There's Fire. So good! They have awesome opportunities for flights of different liquor - with options to let the bartender decide based on your price point. I came here with my girlfriend to celebrate her 28th birthday. She is a foreign student and when she provided THREE forms of valid identification including: a US federal government issued ID (a work permit), a drivers license from her home country, and a New York resident ID, she was told that they wouldn't serve her. All they said was that they weren't "allowed" to. We pulled teeth to speak to the bar manager who came out and told us the ids weren't valid and she wouldn't serve her. We were extremely disappointed. This was the first time this had happened to her in 5 years living in the US. The East End is a solid option for American fare on Wickenden street, although it can be a bit unpredictable. I've been on many occasions, and have a few cocktails that I know and trust - others that friends have tried have been heavy-handed or overly sweet, although interesting in concept. If you are a fan of whiskey, it's a great place to go since they have a fantastic array of options. The food is typically solid. They have charcuterie which is tasty but feels overpriced for what you get. I like the black bean burger and find that to be reliable. Some of their other dishes are more hit-or-miss, however. I recently had a chicken sandwich which sounded good, but was quite dry and without much flavor. They do have a lovely outdoor space in the summer, and in the colder weather the dark, cozy vibe is quite comfortable. Overall, The East End is a solid option for the neighborhood, but is unlikely to be considered one of Providence's best. read more

This hip bar/restaurant is pretty good. The inside is dark and mysterious... perfect for date nights or if you need to not be accurately identified for some reason. The patio is cute and full of nice plants that totally make up for extra wobbly tables. We had some cocktails and shared a burrata salad, beet hummus, and something else that I can't remember. It was all pretty good, and the service wasn't bad, I just wasn't thrilled with some of the available options and it wasn't the best food I've had... Live in FP and haven't been here since Dec 2019. Great to see the bar back open and restaurant in full swing. Staff is always friendly too. I have to be honest though, the food was sub par. We ordered 2 chicken sandwiches and both felt like the cutlet was a breaded hockey puck. My friends wife also ordered a dish that looked like general tso but again the chicken was very tough and unappetizing. Now, the cheese board was outstanding but if cheeseburgers and chicken sandwiches continue to be on on the menu, then you may want to up the quality in taste with chomp right up the road. read more

Several friends of mine recommended The East End when I moved to Providence and I'm overall pleased I took them up on it! My impression of it is overall mixed. First, the good: -The atmosphere: It has a "speakeasy" type vibe, beautiful decor, and the patio in the summer months is great. - The drinks: The cocktails are amazing and the whiskey list is very extensive. Decent beer list as well. - Charcuterie. Meat, cheese, delicious unlimited bread. No more needs to be said. Now, the bad - The staffing: like other reviews have mentioned, the staffing at this place is a bit spotty. Some of the staff will bend over backwards, other staff members act like they'd rather you'd not come in at all (an odd attitude in a business whose sole existence is, in fact, customer service). -The food: I've had spotty experiences with their menu options as well. During my first visit, my boyfriend and I were blown away by both the charcuterie plate and the fried quail we ordered. When we brought a friend from out of town a few weeks later, the "spaghetti" I got consisted of peas and noodles without sauce or other garnish. Disappointing, to say the least. For the price, not worth the gamble. It's close enough to my apartment to walk there and the vibe and drinks are great enough that I can overlook much of the "bad" I spoke of in the above to some extent. Overall, it's a place that I'd recommend for drinks and appetizers. So go down to The East End, grab some charcuterie and drinks at the bar and have a good time with your friends; but plan to seek your entree and consistent customer service elsewhere. read more

The patio is great, the staff is always friendly, and I like that they have affordable drinks on the menu (e.g. the house red). It's warm and cozy in the winter and cool and relaxing in the summer. First time visit. Understandably there were Covid policies in place: wear a mask when server comes around, etc. but the policy that was somewhat annoying was how they served the food/drink. All the food was placed on a bar cart near your table by the server and then when they left you had to retrieve it. My boyfriend had to keep getting up to pick up the items every time something was put down which was somewhat aggravating. We also had to clear our own table when we were finished and had to go inside to pay the bartender at the end instead of the server taking care of it. Again, I understand Covid is causing changes but for spending over $100 and having to clear our own table, essentially serve ourselves, and take the check with us to the bar and cash out ourselves it feels very overpriced. I've been to other restaurants whose policies were much more welcoming to those dining with them. Good drinks, we ordered appetizers to split. Great charcuterie board and great fries. But we also ordered the flatbread pizza to split that was way too spicy to be enjoyable and the corn fritters were very heavy and almost too filling. Hoping Covid policies lift soon because this is clearly a great bar but the food wasn't spectacular for the price point and the service by the waitress wasn't great. The waitress didn't ask once if we wanted drink refills and took forever to get us a box/check despite having only 2 other tables. We had an awful experience. We were a party of 8, doctors. We came out to celebrate our friends birthday. First, we got drinks by the bar. Nobody got ID'd. An hour later we got seated. The waitress ID'd most of us. One of us had an ID on him which expired a month ago so she refused to serve him alcohol. Which was fine. 10 minutes later she came back with a bouncer and asked him to leave. He said he would get his passport and return. And so he did. I asked for a glass of wine. I was told our table has been 'cut off'. I asked to speak to the manager and ask for her reasoning. We weren't aggressive or intoxicated. She said she could do 'whatever she wants'. Went here in a Saturday night with a friend. We say by the bar for a drink first and it wasn't too loud, nice atmosphere. I had a great IPA recommended by the bartender on that night. We then had dinner where we both had the bed burger with a side salad...I loved the side salad, so fresh and simple yet the flavor was just outstanding. The burger was good but a different bun would have been better if it could hold up the juice of the burger and not get soggy. I will say my burger was cooked very nicely, something many places overdo. If say the food is a step up for a bar, the place integrated bar and restaurant very well and it was cute inside. I had a veggie burger with a side of fries and it was probably one of the best veggie burgers I have ever had and I have a lot of veggie burgers. The fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and covered in some sort of magical seasoning. First time here and it was pretty fantastic. My wife and I was out with another couple and just tried this place on a whim. The drink menu is fantastic, very trendy and the bar tender clearly loves his job. His cocktails are made with passion. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a "speak easy" and a perfect casual setting. Staff was attentive and the food........ the food was delicious. That is probably an understatement. There was perfect balance of flavors and texture on every plate. On wickenden st. AGAIN. It seems to be like a black hole for me and the crew lately. This time its the East End Tavern (the old Z bar) on the corner of Wickenden and Brook. Dark wood bar with a very speakeasy confidential vibe about it. Kinda place where you feel like "they wont find me here". I like it. 75 and i hit the oysters which are a buck a shuck before 5pm. Nice. Extensive selection of booze at this place. Our bartender A. was personable and skilled. She made some great cocktails. The East End specializes in some interesting concoctions. I went with something called Snake Oil a combo of Reyka vodka and weird stuff that creeps on you after a couple. 75 had the Call and Response where you pick your booze and a mixer and the bartender creates something good. Tank arrived and we hit the menu..i got the Charcut..Charcutter..the plate with meat and cheese. It was excellent with olives and your choice of meats and cheeses along with some dips and toasted bread. hit the spot. Tank and 75 went with the special a spicy fried chicken breast club sandwich. Wow. Chef is a young guy but he's on point. Prices are a bit higher than some other spots in the area but not outrageous. Could use some more bottled beer options as well. Yay! Im a fan. read more

My friend Amy and her Luxury Bathrobe Skin came to visit from California and this is exactly the kind of place you take detail oriented academics who are also good at skipping rocks. This place is NICE, y'all. All leathery and amber lit and mannerly ice clinky. Amy and I had chicken wings, mushroom stuffed peppadews, and a pickle plate - all with their own interesting twists (is that cardamom in the wing sauce?) without overshadowing the simplicity of the familiar. A friendly waitress with subtle Legolas braids brought us a boozy pink thing in a ceramic cat and a cocktail you can order by selecting a spirit and giving them an adjective - Amy picked "fanciful bourbon" and our nods were replaced with winks in no time. Came here on a Saturday evening for dinner. We sat quickly which was great, it went downhill from there. We waited for about 15 minutes until the hostess came over and asked if we wanted drinks which took another 15 minutes. By the time our waitress (who was very sweet) was able to get to us the table next to us that sat way after us had their entire order taken. The food and drinks were fantastic however after paying our $100 bill I was then charged an additional $500 on top of that.
