    $28 shirt

This is outrageous. $30 dollars for something they got for free. It's higher end brand but not worth $30 in my opinion. Would love to support this business but at this rate it's not even affordable for a second hand store Only plus side is the store is clean. Nothing else

Road trip... let's start with the basics!…read more Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about taking trips and ALWAYS finding the best thrift shops at my destination. This time my Mom and I hit the highway for a 5 1/2 hour drive to Los Gatos. My Mom is the ultimate cat fanatic, THEREFORE Los Gatos was a place we just had to viist so here we are on a serious mission to hunt down some PURR-FECT vintage cat treasures for her collection. We asked a few people at our hotel for local thrifts stores and a staff member recommended Happy Dragon Thrift Shop. This is a beautifully curated store located in the heart of town. The store is full of treasures ready to be rehomed. Happy Dragon was founded in 1958 supported by many volunteers. The store manager Mr. Robb is absolutely a delight. A humble person with a heart of GOLD. As a thrifter, finding good prices is important to me, but please remember that every thrift store prices items differently. Please do not let high price tags ruin your hunt, always take your time to enjoy the hunt. Your perfect find will show up at the perfect price For me on this trip I found: 1) Two adorable cat plant pots 2) A few Coca-Cola Americana style items 3) A a beautiful Waverly Arch Amerith hand held mirror dating back to 1920 (paid under $10.00 for it) There are amazing treasures waiting to be discovered here. NOTE while a few select items might be priced above market value, if you find something you truly love, then the price is right for you regardless of the market. PLEASE NOTE: 100% of the proceeds from the store sales directly support Pacific Clinics, which provides critical youth mental health services and family support. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.

This is considered the best thrift store in Los Altos?!? Seriously? Apparently it is according to…read moresome ratings. But prices are outrageous here! Even if the money from sold merchandise goes to charity, I found no bargains or even then anything worthwhile to buy even if I wanted to. Here is an example of what I saw - a size small Johnny Was shirt for $79. Sterling silver bracelet for $300. Are those supposed to be thrift store prices? I see better prices at the Discovery Shop stores or even better.. at any Goodwill or Salvation Army. Prices are high for being a thrift store and actual ultra high end designer items are few. ....And, apparently the staff are keenly aware of their value. Although, I also saw cheap brand clothing from Shien and Forever 21 for $15 and up ( about what you would pay for the items new and perhaps even more!). I saw clothing heavily piled at not bargain prices perhaps just because of their brand like a worn out Adidas hoodie I saw for about $15. Come on! Now fairly...perhaps their pricing is about 50% off original prices on such items. But with thrift stores, the majority of merchandise donated is usually flawed in some way which is of course why they are donated in the first place! This store apparently has deals as listed before going into the store but you ask a staff person and they have no idea. But the thing is, this is a thrift store.....I expect better. And yet, I understand this thrift store is in Los Altos where there is more of an upscale lifestyle so maybe the regular shoppers here are used to their higher than normal thrift store pricing. I did not buy anything which is rare as I always do find something worthwhile to buy when I go to a thrift store. But I doubt I will come back here. I will stick with Goodwill, Salvation Army, Hope Thrift and Savers...I know at these stores, I will always find some great deals. And anyhow, are not most merchandise thrift stores get donated so they get the items for free?!? COME ON!!!!!!!!!!! Supposedly this thrift store gives to charity but I am not sure what charity as there is no information anywhere in the store about their cause that I saw which alone would have been helpful- not even a brochure for what their donations assist. But even then, with regards to their pricing...those items will do no good just hanging on the racks and in display cases if they never sell due to pricing. A healthy thrift store gets donations often and staff place merchandise out to sell at least once a day. It would sell much merchandise daily therefore moving large bulks of sold merchandise out the store constantly. I get the impression that the majority of the merchandise here just stays at the store forever.

The prices are beyond great if you love vintage clothing and know fabrics. I may have found my favorite dress of all time here for a whopping $14 (because it's a two piece set of decorative vintage fabric) it was in the premium section and the volunteers were adorable making sure I knew why it was priced this way. (I couldn't afford a yard of this fabric retail I'm giddy about a vintage two piece set that I can customize). To then discover that the proceeds go to support women's scholarships was the ultimate bonus! My grand total for everything was $54 and I happily gave my change to the donation bucket by the register. If you are in the area and love unique vintage items this is a must explore. I had to resist the urge to buy several of the tea cup collections. I'm a sucker for vintage tea sets and they have several that are stunning! Great shop, fantastic volunteers who are donating their time to support a wonderful cause.

First, there's an older gentleman with white hair, a white mustache and beard, who was one of the friendliest individuals I have witnessed. There was an older woman standing by the entrance. As I shopped throughout the store, I came across all of his hard work. He was always busy, grabbing things from the back and stocking them in the front. And I have to get a shout out to the guy who was working the register. There was an enthusiastic, maybe 5 or 6 year-old boy talking about his dinosaurs to the cashier. The cashier met him with equal enthusiasm and it was just nice to see human kindness in action. They also have some pretty good finds here. I found some BALLY work pants, Danier Leather pants, and a pair of Rothy's. None of them were my size, unfortunately, so I didn't buy them. I've dropped off donations at this location countless times over the years, and this was the first time I had someone walk up to my car and offer to help me unload my donations and kindly point me to the correct bins for where to place things (electronics, household goods, clothes, bags, shoes, etc). He also asked if I wanted my bags back and if I needed a donation receipt. The last time I donated items here, there was a guy working who practically screamed at me "No hangers!" to which I responded, "Sorry, I didn't know." - I put the bag of hangers back in my car but he definitely didn't need to yell angrily. So this visit was 100 times better, thanks to Deshawn. Goodwill, I hope you acknowledge the great and kind employee he is! Friendly tip: I had fragile wine glasses, pint glasses, and ceramic mugs to donate and I wrapped each item in packaging paper and bubble wrap and placed them in an open box. I was told this was a great way to donate fragile items so they don't break. The back parking lot where the donation drop off is located can get tricky to drive in/out of if there are more than few cars back there. It's basically a small loop with about 6 spots in the center. And when people are walking back and forth from their cars and the donation bins and cars are trying to exit or pull in, it can get dicey so a little patience will help!
