This is not a hope thrift store, it is a antique store. Not sure why this has been listed wrong for so long.

My girlfriend talks about this store the way my friends talk about their gym grind. Constantly. So…read moreI finally went, mostly to kill time while she shopped. Annoyingly, she was right. It's a discount spot but everything's sorted into actual sections -- clothing, appliances, household stuff, food -- so it's not the dig-through-a-bin situation I expected. Then I turned a corner and found the exact silver watch I'd been eyeing online for weeks and had talked myself out of buying like a responsible adult. Here, the price made being responsible irrelevant. So now I own it. Walked out with that, some work clothes, and a couple of household things we apparently needed. Prices were low enough I stopped doing the math and just grabbed stuff. Staff was helpful even though it was busy. Came to kill time. Left with the watch I told myself I didn't need. Worth a look if you like brand-name things without the brand-name price.

IMHO Interesting…read moreplace. Finally got a chance to check it out after reading about it. I'd read that it is really cramped and unorganized. I found that there was enough room to move about and aisles were clear. Yes, product is stacked high but not dangerous to navigate. There was one gentleman working, and we said hello. He said if we had any questions, to just ask. We had no idea what to expect or what we were looking for. You really have to take the time to slowly walk around and look high and low. I suppose you can find great bargains if you know your prices and are willing to spend some time there. They had tons of bedding, kitchen appliances, light bulbs and fixtures, huge rugs, weighted blankets, shoes, Water Piks, name brand luggage, and a ton of clothing on racks and some piled to be picked through, plus a bunch of other stuff. I even found some packages of pepperoni, but they were just thrown on a shelf. I guess they're shelf stable... All of these items are close-outs or returned to Costco, or just out-of-season (like the Christmas trees and wrapping paper I found.) If you like going on a treasure hunt, this is your place! I'm sure I'll go back, one day...

Went thrifting this afternoon and my first stop was Black and Brown. I'd never been there before…read moreand wasn't sure what to expect. Wow, what an amazing store. They mainly sell vintage and modern secondhand clothes, bags, and shoes for women and men, but they also have new pottery from a designer called Familiar. The store is spacious and carefully curated. There is no thrift shop smell and it looks more like a cute boutique than a secondhand store. You can sell your clothes there, too. There are two floors of women's clothes and a separate men's shop across a little courtyard in the back. Most of the customers when I was there were young adults of both sexes. The store was busy on a Saturday in the late afternoon. Fortunately, they have a dedicated parking lot behind the shop with plenty of spaces. The staff welcomed me immediately when I walked in. I was interested in looking at purses and they had quite a few vintage and newer ones from designers like Coach, Tory Burch, Kate Spade, and Dooney & Bourke. I didn't buy any, but enjoyed checking out what they had to offer. I didn't pay too much attention to the clothes, except to notice that women's pant sizes on the second floor only seemed to go up to size 11/12. If they had bigger sizes, I didn't see them. Overall, I was impressed with Black and Brown and would like to go back.

It took some time to find items that interested me as I looked through the entire store (two floors for women and one for men). Some items were over priced but you can find some good gems here. Overall, I would recommend!

I grew up coming here with my parents and siblings and I remember how busy and full of life it use to be. So I wanted to have one last run here. This time I came with my own family, hubby, kids and had some of the food I had enjoyed in the past. Some of old stands are gone but they do still have a good amount of food options. Food review wise see below... Bbq ribs plate 8/10 Bbq chicken plate 7/10 Cheeseburger 6/10 (had some hard chewy pieces) Corndog 5/10 Fries 8/10 Agua frescas 9/10 but pricey at $9 each when you get 5x of them LOL. Took one pic of the cheeseburger but everyone else dug into their plates before I could take more food pics. Anyways we enjoyed it, had some decent eats and played at the arcade for a bit. Sad to see an old tradition die :(

When we asked workers can they direct us to like 2nd hand items, rummage or garage sale stuff, they couldn't direct us to resaleable items either. It makes you wonder how much are they charging their vendors. We are looking for second hand items, antiques and vintage clothing at low bargain prices. DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY!!! It's not a place were merchants can sell second hand items. Go to Capital Flea Market Saturday and Sunday instead, parking is free, and $2.50 a person.

Road trip... let's start with the basics!…read more Anyone who knows me knows I'm all about taking trips and ALWAYS finding the best thrift shops at my destination. This time my Mom and I hit the highway for a 5 1/2 hour drive to Los Gatos. My Mom is the ultimate cat fanatic, THEREFORE Los Gatos was a place we just had to viist so here we are on a serious mission to hunt down some PURR-FECT vintage cat treasures for her collection. We asked a few people at our hotel for local thrifts stores and a staff member recommended Happy Dragon Thrift Shop. This is a beautifully curated store located in the heart of town. The store is full of treasures ready to be rehomed. Happy Dragon was founded in 1958 supported by many volunteers. The store manager Mr. Robb is absolutely a delight. A humble person with a heart of GOLD. As a thrifter, finding good prices is important to me, but please remember that every thrift store prices items differently. Please do not let high price tags ruin your hunt, always take your time to enjoy the hunt. Your perfect find will show up at the perfect price For me on this trip I found: 1) Two adorable cat plant pots 2) A few Coca-Cola Americana style items 3) A a beautiful Waverly Arch Amerith hand held mirror dating back to 1920 (paid under $10.00 for it) There are amazing treasures waiting to be discovered here. NOTE while a few select items might be priced above market value, if you find something you truly love, then the price is right for you regardless of the market. PLEASE NOTE: 100% of the proceeds from the store sales directly support Pacific Clinics, which provides critical youth mental health services and family support. Definitely stop by if you are in the area.

This is considered the best thrift store in Los Altos?!? Seriously? Apparently it is according to…read moresome ratings. But prices are outrageous here! Even if the money from sold merchandise goes to charity, I found no bargains or even then anything worthwhile to buy even if I wanted to. Here is an example of what I saw - a size small Johnny Was shirt for $79. Sterling silver bracelet for $300. Are those supposed to be thrift store prices? I see better prices at the Discovery Shop stores or even better.. at any Goodwill or Salvation Army. Prices are high for being a thrift store and actual ultra high end designer items are few. ....And, apparently the staff are keenly aware of their value. Although, I also saw cheap brand clothing from Shien and Forever 21 for $15 and up ( about what you would pay for the items new and perhaps even more!). I saw clothing heavily piled at not bargain prices perhaps just because of their brand like a worn out Adidas hoodie I saw for about $15. Come on! Now fairly...perhaps their pricing is about 50% off original prices on such items. But with thrift stores, the majority of merchandise donated is usually flawed in some way which is of course why they are donated in the first place! This store apparently has deals as listed before going into the store but you ask a staff person and they have no idea. But the thing is, this is a thrift store.....I expect better. And yet, I understand this thrift store is in Los Altos where there is more of an upscale lifestyle so maybe the regular shoppers here are used to their higher than normal thrift store pricing. I did not buy anything which is rare as I always do find something worthwhile to buy when I go to a thrift store. But I doubt I will come back here. I will stick with Goodwill, Salvation Army, Hope Thrift and Savers...I know at these stores, I will always find some great deals. And anyhow, are not most merchandise thrift stores get donated so they get the items for free?!? COME ON!!!!!!!!!!! Supposedly this thrift store gives to charity but I am not sure what charity as there is no information anywhere in the store about their cause that I saw which alone would have been helpful- not even a brochure for what their donations assist. But even then, with regards to their pricing...those items will do no good just hanging on the racks and in display cases if they never sell due to pricing. A healthy thrift store gets donations often and staff place merchandise out to sell at least once a day. It would sell much merchandise daily therefore moving large bulks of sold merchandise out the store constantly. I get the impression that the majority of the merchandise here just stays at the store forever.
