This place used to be cool when Chris A. worked here. Today was absurd. I asked for the Rum Old Fashion which used to be on the menu. It came with no fruit. I asked for orange and was given a piece of rind. It was early- 4pm and I was the only customer. I enjoyed the drink. I passed on the bar nuts which are now $7. So I get the check and the drink is $14 with a $1 upcharge which they refuse to explain. $15 for a finger of fucking RUM! I live in Newport. I am used to unnecessary expensive. What a fucking joke. The Eddy is a great cocktail bar in Providence. They have a perfect location, helpful bartenders and a great selection of drinks and small plates. It's a very intimate and stylish bar. I normally always order wine, but couldn't resist trying the gin and tonic on tap. The drinks could've been a tad stronger but overall they were excellent. A little on the expensive side, but not unreasonable. The ambiance is top notch. There was an eclectic mix of bar-goers; a couple on a first date, employees of the bar stopping by to hang out, a group of college kids, and a few people flying solo. Good for a chill night with friends, or grabbing drinks with your SO. I always like to start at the Eddy on a night out (try and get there on the early side, it fills up fast and they have a bouncer at the door for crowd control now). read more

I have heard that this is the best bar in Providence and last night I got to experience what the best taste like. Their drinks were delicious. My friend got the house punch and said it was very tasty. I got the copa banana and it was the best drink I had all night (Did I mention we were on a bar crawl that night).... We also got snacks, my friends got the pretzel with maple butter and said was good. I got the oysters with a red wine mignonette. That wine sauce was amazing on the oysters. We had a bit of a mix up because they thought I ordered the whole dozen instead of half which was accommodated for in a very professional way. I will be coming back here for more drinks. read more

The Eddy is always our go to when we visit Providence. We came in with a group of 6 and Natalie took care of us. She's amazing!! We all had our share of the incredible cocktails on their phenomenal menu. The house punch was remarkable. I also had the "thyme and thyme again" and it was equally as delicious. One of my closest buddies had the ruby red and I quote, "this is literally the best drink I've ever had in my lifetime!!!" He had a few more. Haha!! Really low key, relaxing, and warm atmosphere with the same quality and refinement in the cocktails at The Dorrance but with a better price tag and a less pretentious air. I really liked this place and will definitely be back! The bartender and owner is welcoming and keeps The Eddy open 7 days a week! So this is my first time here and I decided to check it out because it was right there and why not. Very cute little cocktail bar. The first attempt at going here we were told it was at capacity so we went to another bar. Came back later in the night and we were able to get in. Just be prepared if it's busy they only let so many in and it is small. Once we were in there we enjoyed a couple cocktails. Our favorite was the Apple double Dutch. Saw some small plates come out for other tables. We had already ate but want to come back and sample those as well. Overall a good before or after dinner spot. read more

First time wasn't that amazed and felt overpriced. I got the champ elysee, and my friend some salad. But the second time I went here, I got a spicy drink and my bf the orange drink AND IT WAS DELICIOUS. I normally don't like cocktails but it was so good! We went around 8pm on a Tuesday night and lots of open seats. The bar was quiet enough to talk!! With lots of cute friend groups and couples having quiet and respectful conversation. Our waiter was so so attentive and asked me if the drink was spicy enough and went out of his way to get another drink made when it wasn't. We had the goat cheese plate which was so delicious we had to order another one. We got the cheddar, which was not very good. I had the Brooklyn Cocktail on Tap and the Cuban sliders (both were top notch.) The only reason I deducted a star was because of the music choice, which kind of put me in a weird mood from the beginning. When I first came in there was some pretty obscene rap playing with gratuitous use of "the N word." I was the only black person there and it didn't seem like the other patrons would have listened to that type of music by choice (nor would I.) I think the bartender caught a glance of my resting bitch face while I waited for the drink. After that, the music went from "Honest," by Future to "Where is My mind," by the Pixies (I had to grin just a little.) Look up the lyrics to the first song and ask yourself if you'd expect to hear that in such a stylish downtown bar. I know white people and cultural appropriation is real, but certain things can just be too uncomfortable in the wrong setting. I'm not really sure if the music change had anything to do with me but I wonder how long it would have gone on. I do appreciate them changing it without me having to be play the angry black man and ask them to change it though. That type of thing is never fun. Aside from that, the space is small but very sleek and nicely designed. It seems like a clutch date destination (put that in your playbook, guys.) The drink was delicious and was bigger than I thought it would be (which is FINE!) Despite the somewhat awkward introduction to the place, I'd go back. read more

My friends and I heard the drinks at The Eddy were great, so we decided to check it out. None of us were disappointed with the quality of the drinks--everything tasted amazing and different than anything we've tried before. However, I'm only giving this place 3 stars because of the RUDE bartender. The bar is very small and busy but we decided to stay because we were eager to try the drinks. There were 5 of us altogether and only 3 open bar seats but a table for 2 was open right next to the bar, so we split up but remained closed together. None of us minded but the bartender made it obvious that she was bothered by this. She asked if we could all move to the back to a "standing area" because all parties HAD to stay together. We asked if we could just remain seated until a bigger table opened up but she got argumentative and said, "well, it's just awkward for other customers if they try to come in and sit," to which I responded "we are all buying drinks" because it became immediately obvious that she only cared for open seats to attract more customers (even though we were all paying customers)... She kept trying to argue with us and justify us moving but finally shut up when she realized we weren't going to budge. What she should've done was try to make us all feel as comfortable as possible as customers. So I would recommend this place if you're into cool cocktails and don't mind spending the money (~$12 per drink). But don't expect great service. read more

This is the worst service I've ever had. We came in at 11:30pm with a group of 9 ladies and wanted to get a drink at the bar. The bartender, Natalie, rudely informed me that she did not want me sitting at the bar---even though there were 9 open seats perfect for us. One of the best additions to Providence nightlife, I can easily seeing this becoming a staple of downtown PVD. When you see John Richard of The Avery drinking at a bar, you know it's good. Pros: Fantastic, enjoyable drinks of a quality not typically expected of RI. The collection of spirits behind the bar are very well thought out; even the most jaded cocktail drinker will spot something that will pique their interest. High ceilings = low volume even when filled to capacity at midnight on a Friday night. Plentiful coat hooks under the bar, you'll love them when you really need them. Excellent flow for such a small place, there are very few spots where you are not close enough to the bar or a server to order another drink. Super friendly, super knowledgeable staff. Jay and Alicia really know what they're doing. Cons: One bathroom = long wait on Friday and Saturday nights. Limited (yet really friggin' good) food menu. Come to drink and snack, not to dine out. My only criticism was that they had minimum food options, and of course that was fixed. Now they have good meats and cheese. My friend and I stumbled across this bar one night and we're pleasantly surprised. We walked in and the vibe was welcoming and relaxing. The bar is small and there are a few tables but the bartenders are very attentive. They assisted us quickly and made drink suggestions. The cocktails were amazing! You bus yourself and the staff acts like you should be serving yourself.
