Is there a better way to wrap up your Friday night than enjoying cocktails and knead donuts at a speakeasy? Probably not. I used to visit when it was Far West, and I'm impressed with what Brian and Morgan have transformed it into. The atmosphere is dark, cozy, and intimate, with a solid selection of cocktails. They offer weekly specials, and you need a password to enter. We tried the "One More Wave" and "No Shirt No Shoes Not Famous." The former had a nice balance and a pleasant passionfruit liqueur flavor, while the latter was delicious but a bit stronger than expected. Overall, it's a fantastic cocktail bar and a hidden gem in Providence. It may not be ideal for large groups, but perhaps that's part of its charm.

This was such a cozy, late night, chill place~ check in for passwords and check out videos to figure out the location because this is a great Speakeasybar Had a girls night to just catch up, and try the drinks. Pricy but worth the price because the drinks were delicious. I ordered On The Wave, and a Negroni variation from the special week menu~ also grabbed a delicious knead donut~ yes it's on the menu~ Service can be busy, so be patient and be ready to wait~ but the server will try his best to get to you and even go to your table~ very considerate and acknowledged that there's a wait and apologizes~ highly appreciate~ I see myself coming back because it was great vibe, service and drinks for another lovely chill girls night

Okay, fine. juniper is THE cocktail bar. I refuse to gatekeep, so here I am with my overdue review. This space has served a few iconic cocktail bars in the past, & juniper has done right by its legacy. There is a sad tendency for modern speakeasies to veer towards the pretentious, but not juniper. The operation is firmly grounded by a deep love & understanding of Providence, the industry, & the art of not taking anything too seriously. Brian & Morgan, the two man team responsible for this speakeasy, have curated a creative & welcoming space by simply being themselves & having fun. The cocktail list rotates frequently, & generally has something for every taste palette - whether you drink "old man drinks" like myself, or "fun frilly drinks" like my partner. There is a specific system & password involved in getting in to juniper, but I won't give away any more. This is where I draw the line, to pay homage to the speakeasy concept.

I'm writing this for one simple reason, Yelp now has a list of top new spots to have a drink in Providence. I haven't any doubt that juniper should be on the top of that list. Brian Oakley of Julian's and Pizza J, and Morgan Snyder of Buttonwoods Brewery, have joined forces for the re-opening of the speakeasy bar in the Rooms & Works building on the West Side of Providence. The space formerly known as Far West, and later as High Dive. The new bar has been running in soft open/trial period for the month of August and it's a smashing good effort. Still has all the cool character the small industrial space is imbued with, and a smart and sharp cocktail menu with more than a few nods to the past. First of which is an homage to the BAG&T that Far West made famous. As I understand it, the new owners reached out to Michele and Luke for their blessings, and with a sip of the minty concoction it's almost like they never left. Add in a still fresh from the oven donut from Knead if you're lucky, or a RI slice from Pizza J, a really well made Daiquiri, or one of the most delicious MaiTai I've had in many years, this spot is a Gem. A+ and totally worth trying to find the secret password to get in during the limited hours it's open. See you there.

I was lucky to have tried North when it was open so when I saw the former chefs were preparing the meal for Chef Night, I knew I had to sign up and was so glad I did. The meal was stupendous! The first course was shrimp and corn fritters. The fritters were filled with shrimp and corn and you can visually see the shrimp and corn. It wasn't overly doughy and the sauce was delicious! Chef Andrew described the dish and he told us that the shrimp was locally sourced from Dune Brothers. The second course was noodles with tomato and pepper dashi and grilled fish. The noodles were fresh, but it started to get a little clumpy. The dashi was really flavorful. The third course was miso tres leches cake with sakura whipped cream. This course I was the most excited about and it totally blew my expectations. Chef Andrew told us that they hand picked sakura petals and made their own whipped cream. The tres leches cake was moist, dense, and airy. The dessert was definitely the star of the show. Bravo to chefs Andrew McQuesten and Stephen Sternkopf for a wonderful locally sourced meal. Jean-Marc and the other bartender were also very friendly and accommodating. They checked on all the customers throughout the night and made yummy drinks. I had the Toasted Venture. This is one of the signature cocktails and has Toasted Pumpkin Seed-Infused Misguided Spirits Red Sky Silver Rum/Cynar/St. George Spiced Pear Liqueur/Rosemary Elixir/Mole Bitters. It was very good. A time at Clementine's is always wonderful.

A lovely woman in the restroom overheard my friend and I unsure on where to venture, and she suggested this place! Moody and welcoming. Absolutely loved it. We went in ~10:45 on a Wednesday pm. Apparently they do live jazz weekly as well, but we'd come too late. A handful of bar patrons, a couple making out in the back of the dining room at their cute table, a lovely bartender, me& my bff. We really hit the jackpot for ambiance last night. Decor in there is so cute. I wish I took a picture of the table lamp on the bar. It was embellished with beads hanging on the rim of the shade. Our drinks were top notch. Mine was a citrus vanilla profile and hers was a savory martini. The sandwich, I had one bite of it was yummy. I don't like imitation lunch meats though. CATFISH was breaded and fried fabulously. Not oily. Crispy and crunchy. So happy to have discovered this place! The bartender told us they just celebrated 6 years of business!

Turns out they had almost all high top tables, however we were able to be seated at the low table that seats 8. Other members of our party were able to be seated at 2 comfy chairs and a few nearby high tops. Food: excellent! Service:: excellent Ambiance: excellent So good that my husband requested to return for his birthday the next month. Only glitch was they had double booked. However we were still able to be seated in "our" spot
