Take Two: Came on a weeknight around maybe 4pmish for after work drinks and while there were some people already there, we managed to find a spot for two. The little bites they've got to snack on are great and the drinks are a hit or miss lol Food -We got a platter with burrata, taleggio, duck pâté and possibly coppa (as the last meat). I wanted to be excited about this place as it's my first bar in Rhode Island. Not only did the waitress never bring our food we asked for but she made sure to check if there was anything else that "we needed to drink before the bar closes" after waiting 30+ minutes for our drinks. This would have been a perfect evening were it not for the manager/server working at the restaurant. We had a large party come for drinks and the place was lively. The entire evening the manager complained that it was too crowded and let everyone know this. The vibe was great but he is attitude was such a downer. It is like he didn't want customers. Nice for drinks. I've been here multiple times over the years and it's consistently solid. Atmosphere is cool, servers are nice, and it's always a good time. It's a really small space so it's always packed. If you want to go with a group you'll have to make a reservation for sure. The music is usually pretty loud, which also makes going in a group tougher, but it's fine for a date. The cocktail menu has a wide variety and changes often enough that there's always something new to try. There are also a couple that are always available, in addition to your traditional cocktails that they'll happily make for you. The old fashioned on-tap is usually pretty good but occasionally tastes like it may have sat around a little too long. The most consistently good drink (funny enough) is the House Punch, which actually varies depending on when you go. I've found that it's most often a rum-based drink but that could just be my timing. It's usually on the slightly sweeter side but not overwhelmingly so, and the flavors are always fun. Most recently, had the Thru-Hiker which was good but maybe a touch watery. Not worth the $14 (pre tax and tip) price but not a bad drink. Overall, solid drinks and a good place for a date. Not my go-to but I'm sure I'll continue to stop by every once in a while. read more

I ask the bartender which one is the tartiest, he said none, just choose the one I like and he can make it tarty. I did and it turned out to be very good. There is not parking directly in front, so plan on parking at a meter and walking a block. The bar is lit with a blue sign and is very tiny. People come in waves here even on weeknights, so if you see a seat-take it. All drinks are crafted by hand and usually by one bartender. Give them time to work their magic. My favorite go-to bar in providence. It's the place you take your friend who is in town visiting for the weekend. The front of house guy is always super kind, respectful, polite- and not at all in your face or too chatty. The interior decor is BEAUTIFUL, it almost feels like an escape to a nice bar in new york for the night. Every drink is so unique and wonderful, prices are standard if not on the lower end! It was nothing but disappointed for the experience that I had on 8/18. Never see the new host before and she was performing racism towards Asian. I've been always a valuable customers and been supporting for the local business during the quarantine. The host was yelling at my people to ask fot their IDs as we don't know how to speak English. When we got checked out she was asking us to clear the table which is obviously that she didn't ask other people to do that. I had a craaaaazy craving for a charcuterie board, which was satisfied at The Eddy. We ordered the All Meats ($40, 1 ounce portions of 7 varieties) and the All Cheeses ($30, 6 varieties). The plates were served with warmed crusty bread, cornichons, whole grain mustard and a fruit jam. The charcuterie selection was all local, and I loved the creaminess of the pate and duck rillette. The cheeses were pretty creamy and not overly pungent, if that's the style you enjoy. We also ordered the raw Walrus and Carpenter oysters, which were delicious!!! (One of my fave restaurants in Seattle is named Walrus & Carpenter, so I totally get why now!!) I loved the yuzu mignonette to give an extra punch to the sweet oyster. We finished the evening with the Knead donut holes. It came with 5 holes in 2 different flavors--mojito lime and passion fruit. These holes are specially made for The Eddy and not sold at Knead. I loved how the glaze was not too sweet, yet flavorful. The donut was also not greasy and oily tasting. Lastly, the cocktails were so delicious! Any place that has a cocktail named after an Arrested Development reference is ok with me! In this case it was There's Always Money In The Banana Stand, which was a lot more tart and a lot less sweet than the name might suggest. I loved the egg white, passionfruit, and Thai bitters in there. At $12 it's not cheap, but you could easily find this level of cocktailery in NYC for about $15 so I was happy. I also really liked the Flor de Jamaica, which was a lighter cocktail with bergamot vodka, rosewater, and hibiscus tea. And those who are nostalgic for Orange Julius drinks from the mall should definitely go for the Orange Julius Caesar! Though it's not a full restaurant, they have lots of enticing snacks including a charcuterie board that comes with a literal loaf of bread and a tempting pretzel situation. They've managed the perfect level of interesting people watching and buzzing of music and conversation, and it's a great place to sit back and relax over your well-crafted cocktail. First cocktail bar we went to in Providence! What a great find! Tiny little place and i'm sure it gets crowded on weekend nights. Great ambiance and the bartenders, especially Jen is amazing. We happened to go there around 5pm which was great because there weren't many people there. They have a great selection of cocktails; we started off with the jackaloupe and the bees on bees on knees, liked both of them although i liked the jackaloupe better. The bees on bees on knees is citrusy and refreshing. Next we got the stirred paloma which was not on the menu but it was there on their menu last summer apparently and the person next to us had ordered it. Very interesting drink with mezcal that will grow on you! Lastly we got the orange julius caesar which was almost like an apertif and the vanilla flavor in the drink makes it so delicious. For food, we got the deviled eggs which is probably one of the best I've ever had and is a signature dish and must try. Creamy, delicious with a great spicy aftertaste that is amazing. We also got the charcuterie board with the aged cheddar cheese. Delicious spicy mustard along with the pickles, must try atleast one, it is so good. The cuban sliders also looked good but didn't get as we were so full. Overall it was a 5 star experience. The bartenders make it all the more special and everyone's so friendly and helpful. Jen mentioned a few other cocktail bars we should definitely check out as well. She's been there since the start and can make you any cocktail you would want; definitely hats off to her and the eddy. We came to the right place at the Eddy. We all ordered different variation of drinks. Mine was called the Pineapple Spritzer. Seems like they have a monthly specialty menu change in addition to their standard menu, so they are not short of drinks on their menu. For drinks we got the gin gin mule, the orange Julius caesar, and the cranberry pimms cup. All were amazing, delicately balanced, and not skimped on at all. It was raining on our first day in town so we came here to while away the hours. It was smaller than I expected, with seating around the bar, a couple of booths at the back and a table at the front. We sat at the bar and were given a drink and food menu. Good range of cocktails on offer covering the full range of spirits. I tried 3 all good. Wife stuck with the one she loved. The food menu came with a pencil to mark what you want; I like this idea, particularly when you're looking to order multiple items. We went for the sliders (which were incredible) and one of the charcuterie items. The Eddy is a hip Down City bar offering excellent craft cocktails, fine charcuterie and knowledgeable bartenders, all in an intimate setting. Too often, in this cocktail revolution you find yourself presented with drink offerings ranging from tossed salad to science experiment gone awry. Steaming glasses filled with swirling algae-looking herbs and twigs only to be anointed with a blow torch is not my idea of refreshment. On this, the Eddy seems to agree. Their drinks are creative, innovative and thankfully sans excess vegetation. They pair nicely with a wonderful assortment of cold meats, cheeses and pâtés on the limited but tasty, locally-sourced menu. They also have a nice selection of craft beer, most of them local, and wines by the glass. A few details should be mentioned. There are no TVs. The Eddy isn't the spot to observe your vicarious heroes running around in their shorts or pajamas trying hit things or each other. It should also be mentioned that the place is on the small side. We were fortunate to visit on a summer weeknight. It wasn't empty by any means, but we could see where on a Friday or Saturday the space could get tight fast. Last, as other yelpers have noted, there are women. Now before you go off expecting Daisy Dukes or coyote ugly bottle tossing damsels, belting out 80s pop hits, get a grip. This is not in anyway, shape or form the venue. Our bartender was skilled and friendly and also had great incite to the "real" Providence food scene. She recommended at least two other stops on our Down City gastro crawl that were, like the Eddy, outstanding. (Reviews to come.)
