But Toasted Oat hits the high points of quality of cook on the food, even if the ingredients may not all be top notch. They have breakfast sandwiches, bowls and scrambles, as well as regular sandwiches, salads and burritos. We enjoyed the regular breakfast sandwich with spinach and cheese (subbed the meat but wish the spinach had been cooked in - $7) and the breakfast scramble which included 2 eggs, 3 veggies, cheese, protein all mixed/cut up together, as well as hash brown (didn't exactly look homemade?) and toast ($11). Everything was served in to-go containers so the looks weren't the best but makes sense given the place and that most people probably don't dine in. You order at the counter and they bring you your food. Everything takes time to come out so you know it's done to order. They also have some coffee and tea. They had a few coffee cake items in a glass display but didn't look homemade either. It feels like a cafe should have more selection of pastries but again bother me. Service was friendly and patient. The actual location isn't that great visually either. There is one longer table and a few smaller ones, but it's not a big place and not decorated to impress (fine by me!) Toasted OAT Cafe in Canton has been here a long time. I'm not sure why I haven't stopped here before. My brunch buddy and I had to make a last minute change of plans, so we landed at Toasted OAT today for breakfast. There are a few tables in a roped off section of the parking lot to eat outside. Inside, there's a long table in the middle, 3 smaller tables on the left, and a bar at the window. We had no problem getting a seat, but it seems like it's more of a take-and-go place than a destination to eat. There are a lot of customizations you can make to your food order, which is more easily done in their online ordering system--but there's a $1.95 service fee to use it. My friend and I made our decisions based off of that system but ordered at the counter. While there are a lot of breakfast and lunch options, there aren't many beverages. Coffee, hot chocolate, and tea are the mainstays for warm beverages, and all cold beverages other than cold brew coffee are prepackaged bottles in a cooler and run just short of $4. Every order, whether it's take-out or eat-in, is served in disposable packaging with disposable utensils. I ordered the Reuben bowl without eggs and a side waffle with syrup. Kind of love that I could get a side waffle. It took a while for the food to come out. It felt longer than it should have been for how few people were there, but I didn't time it. My waffle was cold. The tator tots in the Reuben bowl, however, were cooked perfectly, as were my friend's hash browns. Everything tasted great. If you're looking for the picturesque weekend brunch experience, this isn't it. But if you want a quick bite that's well made with quality ingredients and no-fuss beverages, you'll be very happy here. Even more so if you want to take it on the go. read more

We just picked up our breakfast here, and from the first bite to the last, it was incredible. The whole hog burrito with the added hot sauce and avocado was literally the best breakfast burrito I've ever eaten. I also appreciated how neatly wrapped it was for clean easy eating on the go! The Portuguese roll was also fantastic. It was pillowy soft, and was absolutely worth the .75 cent extra charge. The flavors were all awesome!! My family decided to stop by for breakfast one day. It's a cute little coffee shop that serves breakfast food. The parking lot had plenty of spaces; the inside had a handful of tables to choose from. They also have baby seats. We ordered at the counter and the employee brought out the drinks and food to us. There is a table that has sugar/cream/milk for your coffee and a jug of water and cups. I noticed quite a few people ordered ahead and came to pick up their order. The food and coffee were delicious. I ordered the Whole Hog Burrito which came with two eggs, bacon, ham, cheddar, pepper, grilled onion, hash brown & chipotle mayo on a white wrap ($13.10); I also ordered a side of super crispy tater tots. I won a gift card for Toasted oat about 2 years ago . Today I finally went to the location and it was closed called up and confirmed it was still open in canton ct. They could not read the gift card but the gentleman there honored the gift card and took the order anyways. A small, clean well arranged dining area. We ordered the bomb breakfast sandwich, it was by far the best breakfast sandwich we both have ever had. Onions were beautifully caramelized, mushrooms were browned to perfection and the kicker... I've never had a sandwich delivered piping hot on the softest bun ever. Stumbled on this place after going to the Indian grocery store next door for some tamarind paste for my pad Thai recipes . We went in shortly before their closing time . We were greeted by a friendly enough staff who took our orders for the the Bronx Bomber and the Toasted Cheese sandwich. Both were generous in size and had a an appropriate bread to filling ratio . (I really don't like sandwiches that have to much bread or too little filling) . The pastrami was pretty close to the best I have had in the Hartford area. It was nearly as good as Rein's Deli in Vernon. Yes that good . Thin sliced and nice little bit of griddle char. I am a huge fan of Toasted Oat, I learned about them during the pandemic and this was such a great treat. I have had their sandwiches and salads and they are absolutely incredible. The food is fresh, and the service is decent. I had one negative interaction with a young man working there but I don't want that to taint my entire experience. I got the grain bowl and although on the slightly salty side, because of the ham, it still had a lot of great flavors to please the palate. Located in the space formerly occupied by the defunct Bamboo Grill Vietnamese Restaurant is the Toasted OAT Café. It's a fairly new breakfast-brunch-lunch spot open from 6 to 3 on Tuesday to Friday and 7 to 2 on the weekend. You order at the front counter and they call your name when your food is ready, coffee is self- service, and it can seat maybe 25 customers. We walked in around 11:30 on a Sunday and saw that most of the seats were occupied -we ended up taking two end seats at a table for six. The breakfast choices include sandwiches, burritos, bowls, and scrambles. The sandwiches and burritos range from $8 -$10 and the bowls and scrambles are either $10 of $11. I should mention that these prices for the sandwiches, bowls and scrambles are for named choices on the menu with a pre-selected amount of fillings or ingredients. You can "Build Your Own" with less ingredients for a lesser price. Lunch choices follow a similar flowchart- you can get one of the named sandwiches at $9-$11, a named salad at $9-$13, or a Build Your Own sandwich or salad. We went for two breakfast selections today -a sandwich and a bowl. The $8 West Coast Sandwich included bacon, two eggs, cheddar, avocado, tomato and a hash brown on toasted wheat bread.- It was a pretty big and filling sandwich. The $10 Grain Bowl had sliced ham, turkey, two eggs, cheddar, barley, kale, tater tots (the advertised sweet potato tots were sold out), roasted red peppers, onions, mushrooms, and shredded carrots. The Grain Bowl was fantastic! Great flavors, big portion, excellent value. The coffees were $2 a pop. Improvement opportunities exist and they sit squarely on the shoulders of the young lady up front who was unsmiling, unfriendly and pretty much unresponsive to human interaction. She took our orders robotically with no hint of personality, said nothing to greet us, nothing to thank us for our order, and nothing to acknowledge that we'd tossed a bill into the tip jar. As mentioned, the coffee is a self-serve deal with three carafes -decaf, regular and bold. The regular carafe was missing and when we inquired about it, we learned it was being refilled. When she walked over to the coffee station to reset the missing carafe, she didn't even check the creamer pitchers at all -we had to tell her the half and half pitcher was empty. Bottom line is that the meal was pretty good at a pretty good breakfast price. But the customer service sure could have been better. And that's the difference between 3 and 4 stars. read more

I love a place where I can grab a breakfast sandwich for lunch, and this place is my new fav. I'm a huge fan of the West Coast sandwich - 2 eggs, avocado, tomato, cheese, a hash brown patty (absolute brilliance), on a really hearty wheat bread and grilled perfectly. It also comes with bacon - I just kid myself by thinking I'm getting it on the lighter side by holding the bacon - lol. My husband loves the Breakfast Bomb (eggs, steak, mushroom, bbq sauce). Love that I can call ahead, roll in, have a super nice person hand me my lunch, and arrive home with a still warm & not soggy sandwich 15 minutes later. Coffee is super too. I'm disappointed because I don't want to experience the utter disrespectful treatment that 7 different customers experienced the last time I was there 2 weeks ago. There was also a family of 4 who walked out!!! Was it a huge line? No, not really. My wife and I - plus the other 7 poor souls who decided eating at a restaurant on a Saturday Morning is a good thing need to sit around waiting for all of the doordash and ubereats orders to go out before we get served. Really a shame, because I kind of like freshly made food instead of something that has been getting cold in the footwell of some stranger's car. This comes off as odd to me, because so many other places actually do a ton of takeout and serve the dine-in people in a timely manner. Anyways, order online. Don't bother going here. Don't expect a nice fresh warm sandwich from a great place, expect nice lukewarm food in a greasy bag sitting on your doorstep. 30 seconds in the microwave and it should be 75% as good as it would have been fresh out of the kitchen. My partner had the basic club sandwich which was kicked up a notch by, you guessed it, GARLIC MAYO! The space itself is tiny, with two four seater tables and a long communal table down the center, which has ten seats. Honestly, while the communal table looks nice, it's a great rough hewn board table, the restaurant space has room to fit a bunch of two seater tables, which is preferable to the awkward overhearing of conversations you get at communal table thing. Maybe they will consider adding some other options in the future. You order at the counter, and they call your name to pick up the food. The food is fresh, maybe a bit expensive, it would be nice if they tossed in chips or a pickle on the side. Overall, a great little place. I will give this place 2 stars because the breakfast burrito was ok. The staff is not very friendly and although it was not busy when we walked in we felt like we were really putting her out by having her take our order at the counter. It's self service, you order at the counter and get your own coffee . For the prices charged for the food here you should not have to eat on paper plates and plastic utensils. I was charged 9.00 for 2 pieces of thin bacon and two hard scrambled dry and tasteless eggs ( I had asked for soft scrambled) . No toast, no home fries....$ 9.00 on a paper plate with a plastic fork. I asked for salsa , they had non in the restaurant. Coffee was another 2.00 , self serve and small paper cups. We also had to ask for the cream to be refilled which took 20 minutes although only 2 more customers came while we were waiting. The breakfast burrito was ok but they had no salsa or sour cream. Heck, even McDonalds has salsa for their breakfast burritos. I won't be back....High prices, small portions & paper plates & plastic utensils.....not what I'm looking for when I go out for a meal. read more
