This is our favorite breakfast spot in Hampton Roads. While you may have a wait to get in, it's almost always much quicker than they tell you it will be! The waiters are attentive and the food is fantastic. I usually make my own omelette with avocado, jalapeños, and crispy bacon. It comes with a side and toast so I usually get cubed potatoes or grits and then wheat toast. My wife will either get an omelette or their french toast, which is equally fantastic. They play good music (we always hear some Dave Matthews Band) and the food is always served hot, which is a big thing for me! I've never had to sit with an empty coffee cup either. We always take our leftovers to go and get to make another breakfast out of our meal. I also really like that you always see a diverse crowd inside. Went on a Friday around 11ish assuming everyone would be at work. I was wrong, it was super packed as usual. The wait wasn't too long though. We sat at the bar,server was nice. I had the crab benedict which is supposed to be 1 of their top sellers. I was very underwhelmed. I was expecting much more crab. The crabcake seemed to be made of claw meat and just didn't taste good. The hashbrowns were good and pancake was rather tough. My boyfriend had the biscuits and gravy and said his wasn't too great either. I guess many people go here for the bloody mary and mimosa because the food is really nothing special. read more

Great spot for breakfast/brunch! I got the Bennie and the Grits with hashbrowns and a mimosa flight! Sip carefully or you'll be walking sideways with this one! 4.5 stars. Decided to come here on New Year's Day. It was so crowded but the wait wasn't awful and the food was sooooooooo good. I listened to others who have been here multiple times and decided to give their Cinnamon Swirl French Toast a try. I absolutely loved it. I also like how you are able to order the French Toast ala carte. Also, how awesome are their cubed hash browns?!?! It was like having French fries for breakfast (and I loved it). Of course, I ordered a mimosa flight bc those are 10/10 as always but the flavors I recommend would include the peach pear, mango, PINEAPPLE, & forbidden fruit. (mostly pineapple though.) Wow! So good! My father was visit from out of town and wanted to eat breakfast, my favorite local place was closed so we went to Egg Bistro. Great decision on our part! I ordered the pineapple mimosa and the new cinnamon honey cronuts, holy Moses were they good!!! My father had a traditional mimosa and an eggs Benedict with asparagus and grilled chicken, also phenomenal! The line was out the door when we got there and there was a 30 minute wait. Such a great time!! I had been hearing about this restaurant for about a year and haven't had a chance to check it out until today. We went around 11:00 on a Sunday and had about a 20 min wait, however it was well worth it! Tried the a couple of their bloody Mary's and then went for the loaded one which is a meal in itself!! Whenever I'm visiting Chesapeake I always come here. The food is consistent as well as the drinks. My cousin's order was incorrect due to the kitchen not reading it correctly but the server Kristen and the manager Stephanie (I think that was her name) expeditiously fixed it. What can I say? The food here is amazing! Regardless of what you get, you will not be disappointed. I have yet to dine in, I've always done takeout (thanks to COVID) but it is worth it. We beat the dinner rush, arriving right around 6PM with 3 kids in tow. Thursday nights is their pasta special, AND one kid eats free for every adult ordering an entrée. We were seated at a 6 top in the corner next to the swinging kitchen door. Not the best seat in the house, but one where I assume a lot of our demographic may get seated. The vibe of BEB is modern diner. There is a combination of booths, tables and a bar. Overhead the open ceiling exposes industrial joints, wiring and such, which is camouflaged with black paint. The walls are warm terracotta in color. The noise level is medium to high with all the hard surfaces exposed. I love Tuna and never fix it for myself. Their Tuna bite appetizer sounded interesting. "Our blackened tuna served with Pico de Gallo, homemade guacamole and flour tortilla chips." ($9) There is an option to have it grilled versus blackened, which is what I selected. I paired it with a standard Caesar Salad ($7) and a glass of Italian Pinot Gris ($7). The Tuna was excellent. Unfortunately, the Pico de Gallo was a bit too spicy for my wimpy taste buds. I took two or three bites before throwing in the towel. The guacamole was really good, which completely surprised me. The Tuna was slightly overcooked (I ordered Medium Rare), but not to the point where I would send it back. There was still pink to it. It was covered with a sweet teriyaki flavored glazed which paired up nicely with the Mexican flavors of the guacamole and pico de gallo. The Caesar was nothing crazy, but it was good. I liked the croutons, which were small, well seasoned and proportionate to the salad. My girl's green beans looked delicious, so I stole a few during the kids' third field trip to the restrooms. Served al dente, lightly buttered and seasoned with garlic, they were fantastic. My daughter came back to her seat and polished them off. She loved them. The grilled cheese was also history. This was my first adventure at the Egg Bistro, but my third time trying to get in!! This place is ALWAYS packed, but today I found a parking space...YAY!! Upon entering everyone said good morning and was very nice. They took my name and cautioned there would be a 30-35 minute wait. In actuality it was only 20 minutes. My server (Heather) was VERY nice, giving me time to look at the menu, after I informed her it was my first trip. She stopped by to see if I had questions and gave me a few more minutes, as their breakfast menu is significant! I settled on the Harvest 2, which gave me a choice of one meat and four sides. I had bacon, 2 eggs, a biscuit, hash browns and a 1/2 order of french toast. The eggs were scrambled perfectly, the bacon crispy per my request, the hash browns crispy with cheese on top, the biscuit light and fluffy (and BIG) and the french toast, just heavenly with lots of cinnamon in it!! Everything came to the table fairly quickly and was piping hot. All of it was DELICIOUS! My glass never got below half full and Heather checked on me several times. For a restaurant operating with little room to spare, I couldn't believe how nice and efficient everyone was. I was so impressed that I ordered one of their lunch sandwiches to take home. I can't wait to go back. This place puts IHOP to shame and I believe I've found a new favorite breakfast spot in Chesapeake!! There was nothing about this visit to complain about...5 stars!! Came in for breakfast on a weekend while traveling with my family. I ordered the french toast meal and man let tell you make sure you come hungry as they give you a ton of food. I ordered it with cubed hashbrowns (highly recommended and everyone at the table thought it was the best item on the menu), 2 eggs, and turkey sausage. They are very kid friendly as I have a 3 year old who was starved as soon as we sat down in the packed restaurant. They brought his out first and asked if we'd like them to make a happy face of whipped cream on his waffle (of course he loved that). BEWARE OF THE SPINACH WRAP, IT COMES WITH SOUP!!! My wife finally convinced me to have breakfast away from my normal places, should have stayed strong with my conviction... The hash browns have an after taste of old burnt oil and the "infused" pancakes are pancakes with items placed on the grill before the batter gets pour in top, paired pancakes more accurate. Welcoming and friendly place! The wait was about 25 minutes around 11am on a Saturday for a table of three- not bad! The coffee was flowing consistently into our cups (our waitress was a champ) and the food wait was just long enough to keep us hungry. The atmosphere is busy and comforting for a weekend brunch.
