Now after trying it I'm not sure how.. the pancakes were rubbery, the fruit was mushy and old, the biscuits were burnt on the edges... Also the bathroom looks like it has mold all around it. I have been going here for a few years now. I've thought that it's just a classic diner with good food. The past couple times I've been, the service has gotten worse each time. This most recent time I've been, the service was awful. We waited about 20 minutes in their waiting room with no AC meanwhile their dining room had several open tables. Even if we had to wait at the table for a while, at least we would have been in AC. Right when our drinks were delivered, they were set on another person's table in front of a stranger's face, and served to us. While she was serving the drinks, the waitress spilt soda all down my arm which was met with an empty "sorry". I had to ask for napkins. Food tasted pretty standard for a diner. I couldn't rate this higher! This was a great experience when you know what to expect. Pros- Our server, Cherie, was cheerful and expedient. The table was clean and well stocked. Our food arrived promptly. All the orders were large portions, and everyone was happy with what they ordered. I got the Taco Salad, which was beautiful, delicious, and had plenty of ingredients. Everything tasted fresh. Coffee was hot and unending with plenty of creamer for all. Cons- Parking could be more plentiful, but that is to be expected when they are busy. I think I've found my new favorite diner ! I had breakfast here today first time ever and got the lemon poppyseed pancakes and they are the BEST pancakes I've ever had in my life!!! That housemade lemon syrup is so damn good!!! I just wish they gave a little more of it ! The orange juice, eggs and sausage were very good quality as well and my waitress was very sweet and attentive... even with the restaurant being so packed and busy! I plan to come back at least semi regularly since i left very happy with my belly full... and it didn't break the bank. It was just a little over $15 for my juice, meal and tip included which i find it's not easy to get a decent breakfast that price or less anymore when you go to eat out. Having recently moved into the area from Northern Nevada, I was genuinely pleased with my breakfast visit to the Egg Factory. Nothing fancy about the exterior of the building that would reflect the food inside; it's simply a non-flashy building. Wandering inside seems to match the exterior, very simple tables and chairs that have seen some extensive use. Was warmly greeted and seated promptly. My server was quick to take my coffee order while setting my water and utensils down. Being my first visit, I needed several minutes to decide which of the many breakfast options to try. Ultimately, the "Pig Out Scramble" oinked the loudest. The scramble had crumbled bacon, smoked ham, country sausage, bell peppers and onions topped off with monterey-jack & cheddar cheeses. The ingredients were fresh. Surprised at the quality of bacon used in this scramble - thick and tasty. Enough cheese to require fork-twirling separation. I chose the hash browns (the other potato choice was house [cubed] potatoes) and breakfast bread. I opted for pancakes as my "bread". The pancakes (two) were thick, fluffy, and tasty. The meal was pleasing and I thought very reasonably priced. I could have easily taken half this meal home given the large portions (but heck, I finished it!). My pleasant server (Kaylee) checked on my coffee level often and made sure I had everything I needed throughout. I would have lifted this review to 5-stars had it only been reflective of the food and service. My only detractor to all of this was the use of "experienced" tableware. There were chips in the ceramic coffee mug, normally not something you would use to serve the public. Following suit, the plates, etc., were a bit worn also. Definitely NOT show-stoppers and I will definitely return here again. These were the only negatives on an otherwise wonderful meal. read more

We were excited to try the food since the restaurant looked cute and homie, but after 30 minutes of waiting and being ignored we decided to leave. I've never been one to use the race card, however We did notice everyone that entered and were seated were caucasians and we were Hispanics. Then we went back for a third time to experience another round of terrible service with reasonable, just okay tasting food. It's very sad when you can't get good service and good food at the same time. Why is it so hard to find and hire good waiters? There's some basic fundamentals to becoming a good waitress. None of those fundamental qualities exist with anyone at the Egg Factory, I'm very sorry to say. I love leaving 5 star reviews, but I just can't do that here. Went on my birthday. Arrived at 9ish, not super busy like the many other times we have eaten here. Waitress took 10 minutes to arrive at a first touch. She took our drink order, never came back after 10 minutes. My wife went up and asked for her drink, waitress said, I'm busy getting food to the only 2 other tables she had next to us. Food was great as usual. Waitress never returned for a how is your food. Didn't come back again. We had to ask the bus boy for a to go box and had to ask her up front for the bill. Inside out: right off the Caldwell Boulevard, the first thing is the parking lot is an absolute nightmare. This place can busy, it wasn't there yet when we got there but it was still so chaotic and cramped in the parking lot with no lines and people parking horribly wherever they can. The inside looks like it may have once been clean and charming but it has not been maintained in the slightest, I like their country decor but it seems like they are focused on taking money out of the place instead of putting it in there to have some pride in their presentation. I'm not sure what changed about the Egg Factory or if this location was always this way. Whatever it is maybe they should watch some Gordon Ramsay 24 hours to hell and back or something to get some tips on maybe what they're doing wrong. It would be a shame to see this place go to the wayside and I would love to see it returned to its former glory. The food: it used to be our favorite breakfast joint in town at the Boise location and the food was never disappointing. I got the rise and shine with eggs over medium (they came over easy and beyond greasy), hash browns which I requested crunchy and were more burnt on the outside and wet on the inside, toast to dip in the eggs and I have no idea how they managed to mess up toast but it happened, and a former favorite of Lemon poppyseed pancakes with lemon syrup. The lemon syrup was just... wrong like cough syrup mixed with fermented sadness. My husband got the sausage lover's breakfast, he never has much to say on the food but he was sick after, he even tried to eat some leftovers and got sick again. He said 'never again'. The food also took forever, I'm willing to wait for something that's good but this was just tragic. I am pretty easy to please but this was one of the worst breakfast meals I have had in long time. The only reason for the second star is coming. Service: They seemed extremely short staffed but the waitresses were absolutely kind and doing the best they could with the situation. I can never knock someone working in an environment where they're trying their best, and these people truly seem to be. Overall: It got continually louder and busier in there, so maybe not everyone has this experience or they enjoy a different type of food. Whatever it was I don't like to leave a negative review is very often, and this place may still be thriving despite this what do I know. I ordered the HOMEMADE corn beef hash and it's the best corn beef hash I have ever had at a restaurant. Most breakfast places usually use canned hash but this was absolutely yummy! A well prepared cafe breakfast is HARD. Most restaurants, even the most popular, frequently fail. Here, the California scramble was possibly one of the best egg scrambles I've ever had. The eggs were perfectly prepared to the right temperature. Not dry nor runnny. Soft and well seasoned. The homemade biscuits were delightful and worth all the calories. My wife and I stopped by for some late breakfast and we were not disappointed! It is a very small building with a faint rooster outside so you can't miss it! Very homie and all the employees were super friendly! I got the Lemon Poppy Seed Pancakes and they were AMAZING! They came with a lemon syrup and I was afraid it would over power the pancakes but it was definitely the right balance, the sausage Pattie's were delicious and meaty and the eggs were cooked perfectly. My wife for the strawberry cheesecake French toast and fell completely in love!
