If you have solar - don't call The Electric Touch or Arie to install your generator! They don't know what they are doing and are causing solar contract violations by installing generators and as a result - rendering existing solar contracts null and void because you can't just add things without following legal and technical protocols when you have existing solar. (You would THINK a generator installation company like this would KNOW how to install a generator without voiding your existing solar contract - I'm here to tell you - they don't know!). It's incredible to think they are out there install generators with ZERO knowledge of existing solar contracts and breeching them as a result of unauthorized work to a home's system. Arie and his company The Electric Touch installed a generator and didn't consult our existing solar provider - as a result of his generator installation, our solar contract is now in breech and our home is no longer able to get power provided by the solar company who said Arie and The Electric Touch did unauthorized work to our system. Arie and his wife both blame us and said it was our job to contact the solar company and in inform them of his technical work and plan - that's OUR JOB he said, not his, to contact the power company and to discuss these technical professional-level issues - we hired them for this - but they say that was all on us to be sure the solar company was on board with what changes had to happen for him to install a generator - we aren't in that business - that's why we hired them to install a generator - assuming they knew the right protocols for doing so with an existing power system provided by solar - they did NOT and just unplugged our battery, re-did our breakers and left us with our solar contract in jeopardy and our solar company has stopped providing power to our home as a result of this installation. This is causing excessive power bills as our home is no longer able to utilize our existing solar panels as our contract was voided as a result of this generator installation by THE ELECTRIC TOUCH. His wife who handles sales calls literally said this: "When we first came out to give you an estimate you never even told us you had panels on the roof. " This is the level of professionalism we are working with when dealing with THE ELECTRIC TOUCH. They don't know we have solar panels?? REALLY?? It's pretty hard to keep solar panels a secret when they are on the roof visible for anyone to see. This is now escalating into a legal battle, as a result of using THE ELECTRIC TOUCH to install a generator - now we have a generator installed, but by using this company, who did nothing about the protocols for handling a home with existing solar - completely voided our power contract with SUN RUN, our existing solar provider. In addition, Arie's company told us nothing about the generator's programming that turns it on at random times every few weeks for it's own self-check, when this happened we thought the power went out and had to call the power company to find out what was happening, and if we were having an outage, because Arie and his company couldn't be bothered to tell us they set the generator up for regular checks when it starts on it's own every 2 weeks - they never mentioned this or let the customer know about it after spending $40+K on a generator with them. read more

After the recent spate of Edison PSPS outages, I contacted the good people at The Electric Touch. I spoke with Nicola who told me that they were overwhelmed with requests but she would get her boss Arie out to meet me and survey our situation. Sure enough, a week later Arie came out on a Sunday and we agreed the generator size, where it would be sited and he said he would have a quote to me by the end of the week. I also called around a few other generator companies most of whom did not get back to me or couldn't quote for 2-3 weeks. It actually took about 12 days until I got the quote but understandable as everyone was looking for a generator. Two weeks later Arie's crew showed up led by Jose and installed everything in two days. I was worried about the placement of the transfer switch and breaking the stucco but Jose came up with an elegant solution and did a masterful job of the electrical installation it looked so neat and tidy. The two other crew members worked very hard as well, altogether a great team who know what they are doing. One thing to remember is unless your generator is started up the first time by an authorized dealer your warranty is not valid! Another piece of advice I received from an electrician is don't let an electrician install your generator use a generator company because that is all they do day in and day out. Five days after everything was installed, we had a scheduled power cut, the lights went out and forty seconds later the power was back on again with the generator humming away for 9 hours! We have a Generac battery and solar panel system at our house in Mammoth Lakes, CA. During its third year of operation the PWRcell system blew an internal fuse and refused to function until serviced. Getting an official Generac service visit proved problematic because there are no Generac battery dealers currently working on the east side of the Sierra mountains. Our quest for service finally located an electrician willing to make the long drive up Hwy 395 three hundred miles away in the Thousand Oaks area. Arie (from The Electric Touch) agreed to step up and go that extra mile (320 miles each way actually). His response was prompt and every effort was made to mitigate the per diem costs incurred with such a distant multi day service call. Arie came for a generac estimate he told me "it has to be 5 foot from property line" this is not true to califronia Laws it needs to be 5 foot from a door or opening, 18 inchs from home or wall. He miss led me and lied for reasons I don't know. He needs to study codes and Laws, it would be about 91/2 foot from door. This is bad business. read more
