You can't overstate how poorly the Enclave is run. Turnover is constant, so many Executive Directors and Medical Directors have come and gone. The current Director is unprofessional and doesn't respond to calls or emails. Amazing indifference to care for the elderly. They are very deceitful in their billing and unethical in their charging for services. Do not put your loved one here, you will regret it. read more

The staff turn over and food service here is horrendous. People waited over 1 1/2 hours for breakfast this morning and never got served, so they walked out - hungry. These people absolutely do not know how to operate a dining room. This event was not uncommon, although the proverbial straw that broke the back A bed can go anywhere m so the apartment isn't critical, but quality food is top priority for seniors, and Enclave doesn't get it. Looking for a new place for my father-in-law after 6 years in this very poorly managed facility. read more

The Enclave at Gilbert memory care facility did NOT honor my mother's DNR when she passed. When she passed we were notified by the police and NOT the facility. When we arrived we found my mother on the floor, where they had preformed CPR. We cannot get an explanation of the staff's actions, because Enclave will not respond to our inquiries. Beware if you have a loved one in this facility. Document everything and be an advocate for yourself and loved ones. The staff and management turnover is constant. It's not the type of management you would want in a senior care facility. This is totally unacceptable and irresponsible behavior. read more

Tonight my mom ended up in the emergency room because (as I watched on her in room camera) two staff members basically flung her into her wheelchair. She needed five stitches on her leg where it was gashed open. The facility prohibits recording so it's my word against theirs. I also watch caregivers come in and impatiently fling their head back or heavy sigh because she is slow. They offer very little conversation, encouragement or compassion and never bother to say good night... they basically get her into bed and then walk out the door. I am very sure it is done differently when a supervisor is with them. There are a few good caregivers but it's more the exception. Recently she was headed toward a medical crisis after returning from the hospital and rehab. She lain in bed for 4 days. I asked the director to meet me in her room to see the state she was in and she told me she had seen her several days prior. And then said she was very busy but could give me 30 minutes of her time in a conference room. Her unwillingness to walk up one flight of stairs and spend just a few minutes with my mother made me decide meeting with her was not worth the conversation. She made it clear her mind was already made up. And I agree with all of the other negative reviews so I'm not going to repeat them but they are accurate. This place can be very toxic. I worked here and while there are ups and downs in every job, the problem I find here is that there's not much improvement that happens in my experience. The restaurant management can be very toxic. Some of the chiefs also are pretty mean and at times yells at the servers and even each other. The HR lady herself is also mean and rude in which few can come to her for guidance. The residents here are decent and this place has some good workers, but I think management needs to do a better job at communicating with its employees. All in all, this place isn't doing a good job to abide by its mission and values. People resign often within the kitchen cause it's very toxic. read more

Front office lady is rude. My Mom lives in independent living. I have questions about her all the time... And most of the front office does not care! She even writes two checks a month and they allow that. So now she's getting bounced check fees in our account. I feel that they should bring that to our attention. read more

There is so much staff turnover that the place is run inefficiently. The bookkeeping system is nearly nonexistent. It has taken me up to 3 mos to get reimbursed for a wrongly charged meal. Housekeeping is a joke; apartments aren't cleaned as often as the lease says they're supposed to be cleaned. My 3rd floor patio reeks of dog from the 1st floor neighbor below me. Management is ineffective in getting pet owners to clean after their pets. Common areas smell of dog and spilled food, or strong disinfectant to mask the odor. The new Exec Director is THE WORST. She's been there about 1 month and thinks she knows everything, when she can't even locate an inventory sheet of items provided upon move in. My advice if you live here: keep good notes and copies of all documents. You'll definitely need them to prevent being accused of eating meals you didn't order, having extra cable boxes and remotes for tv's you don't have, and for not giving 30 days notice, when actually I gave 45! My aunt moved in to the Enclave at Gilbert in January and loves it! She does a lot of the activities and has made new friends. The staff is wonderful and has taken care of any issues in a timely manner. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! read more

I have lived at the enclave at Gilbert for the past year. It has been a very enjoyable, fun filled year I live in the independent section, and there is also assisted living and a memory care section. The staff for all three sections are caring people who go out of their way to accommodate the residents needs and wants. The activities are varied, and the Director is always open for new things. We have several exercise classes, games of all kinds, bingo, and outings. We also have. Activities around the pool. Last summer we had kayak races right in the pool. The food is constantly changing and improving. Our Director of dining even solicits some residents recipes to try. My apartment is very comfortable and kept clean by our housekeeping staff, and if anything is broken the maintenance is right on the spot. I am very happy here at the Enclave at Gilbert. read more

My mother has been a resident at this facility for almost 3 years. I agree with others in that the facility "looks" very nice. There are a few staff members that are wonderful and do their best in the situation they find themselves in. For the most part, it is a fairly welcoming environment. It is clear that management wants to hide behind closed doors instead of being out and about in the facility. Initially I believed the excuses for running out of food, being short staffed, etc. Unfortunately, it has progressively gotten much worse. The dining room is a DISASTER! My mother is still able to prepare food when she needs to. But there are many others that are not able to do that and I'm sure they end up hungry at times. The wait has gotten longer and longer and has now progressed to some of these poor residents having to wait hours for their food only to end up leaving because it's inedible. These people are at the end of their lives and meals are one of, if not the only thing they have to look forward to. I have brought it to the attention of management in the past and nothing has changed. It just continues to decline. They are well aware of the issues and are either unable or unwilling to make changes. I will be filing a formal complaint with the State and anyone else that will listen. My mother WAS an assisted living resident at the Enclave. The facility appears very nice however, it is disorganized and mismanaged. My mother requires some assistance at 92 years old, not much but some. These were some of the highlights: 1. Waiting for meals up to 45 minutes at the table. 2. Requesting for laundry to be moved from washer to dryer on occasion. Never moved. 3. Falling and pressing alarm with no response. 4. Filthy carpet with 4 work orders placed. 5. Finally haphazardly cleaned and floor fans left behind for weeks (of course we moved to hall), Mom high risk for falls. 6. Uncaring staff. 7. Mom spilled ketchup, requested to clean (she has been instructed not to bend down) staff never came. 8. Moved Mom to another facility bc she was becoming withdrawn and depressed, Enclave called two weeks post discharge to confirm discharge for next day. Honestly, could go on. My mother was visited daily by family. I know some of these things may sound trivial but I'm attempting at being concise. I'm communicating so others are aware not to waste the precious moments of an older adults life and money at the Enclave. Since moved, she is engaging in activities, eating meals and is starting to come around. read more

Prepare to work for your elder - a lot. Since March 2020, I have to check Karen's work and ask her - EVERY MONTH - why she hasn't sent my father's continued care form to his Long Term Care insurance provider on time or at all. This form is required to give the insurance payout to my father. If my father doesn't get paid, they can't get paid so I'm not sure why it's so difficult for Karen to do this simple task. So I have to check her work every month. I also have had to read thoroughly their "careplan" every 6 months and approve/sign it as my father's power of attorney. The last one (my father has been there about 2 years now) was identical to the previous one even though I had corrected several errors I found and sent them the corrections. Every 6 months I go through with a fine tooth comb to correct mistakes and update my father's careplan and it is ignored until I repeat myself so many times for weeks that they finally fix the document (the Careplan is the document that Enclave uses to assess how much they will charge you for their services, so it needs to be right). During the pandemic, I was informed by their manager of Assisted Living, Daniela, that my father needed supplies like toiletries and such. This request was in an email in September. The problem, as I responded to her, was that I had just bought a large supply of various items for my father in August (I even forwarded her an image of the receipt which I kept - prepare to keep copies of all receipts). I asked her what happened to all of the recent toiletries I just bought my father. Daniela never replied. I followed up in another email about a week later to ask again. Got an Auto-vacation responder. I tried again and again to only receive silence. Finally, 2 MONTHS LATER in November, I get a call from Vanessa, head nurse, to ask me to send toiletries to my father as he has run out. I was furious and told her how I had been getting the silent treatment from the manager. Vanessa and I straightened the situation out eventually, but with no help from Daniela. I was hoping Enclave would be different, but they aren't. They care only about taking your money and not about helping provide a life to our older generation. If I could move my dad to someplace better, I would, but he is so settled and with his disabilities (mental and physical), I'm afraid it would wreak havoc on him to move him. So I just fight for him and I don't settle for the BS they try to pull on me. I am in the process of compiling a report of my findings and sending them to the state to make them aware of the lack of adequate care at Enclave. They have had a half a dozen or so cases of Covid-19 and one resident has passed away from the virus. I am so sorry for that person's family, and I am certain it is due to Enclave's cavalier approach to caring for their residents. Although the facility is beautiful, it's lipstick on a pig. Mom complained often about how bad the food was. That was one of the things she was looking forward to when moving here - not having to cook. It didn't start that way, but over time the quality went way down. She complained that she wasn't allowed to take leftovers back to her apartment. She also didn't like that there is an enforced dress code for meals, so she missed several because she didn't feel like "putting herself together" just to go get breakfast. Her toilet in the master bedroom was broken for over a month. It wasn't until I got involved that it was repaired. I doubt that the part they were waiting on just happened to be delivered the day I talked to the manager. And why make her wait? They could have easily taken parts from a vacant apartment instead of making her wait. She hated the car wash so close. The lights, the noise, the inconsiderate patrons with blasting bass heavy music at all hours made her change apartments, which was a huge inconvenience. Mom passed in April, during the covid lock down. I could write a short book on that experience with the Enclave, but I'll leave it at this. I hid a security camera in her apartment after her passing, because we couldn't move her out until August, and despite a DO NOT ENTER sign on her door, I caught staff going in her apartment on multiple occasions. Gilbert police weren't able to do anything because I couldn't prove anything was taken. Eventually the Director had to put gate hardware and a padlock on the door to keep people out. Very sad and disturbing. If you or your loved ones decide to move in here, I would recommend a detailed inventory of valuables, a safe and security cameras. The good part of the experience was that she met her new best friend. I'm very thankful for that, but it tears me up thinking that Mom's final year was not what it should have been. I have to live with that, because I thought she'd have a better life here. I was wrong. read more

I agree with every review here. Shiny as heck on the outside and the sales people are super SALES people. Although there are a select few staff members who are amazing, they are woefully under staffed and/or under supervised in all areas. My mom has suffered theft on several occasions, the response times to her requests for help are slow and their accounting of it is shady at best, tonight she waited 2 hours for her meal. On two occasions when I've gone to have lunch with her they ran out of plates. On both occasions the server said she would "go back and wash some." And then proceeded to come back with "clean" plates (um health codes?). The beds aren't made as scheduled...so many other areas that could be discussed. There is a new director who is allegedly working to pull them out of the mess that The Enclave has become. There is nothing in this review that I have not shared directly with her. read more

It's been 3 months since last review. Food is still ridiculous, our Dads dinner tonight was spoonful of rice, few veg, piece of dry hard bread, applesauce. "Where's the Beef". Didn't seem to me that management knew the needs of eldery. Big electricity box dominated the main wall in living and bedrooms. Grab bar in handicapped bathroom was a far reach and I am 5'7". No small shelf by entrance door. Needed to be standing to see out living room window. The little nicities that makes life better were missing. Ate lunch by ourselves (before COVID) instead of being escorted to a table with residents. Many of the residents eating by themselves. Apparently no effort to encourage socialization . I ordered a quesada---a bit of lettuce, a decent piece of chicken, tiny bit of cheese on top of a cold tortilla. The young lady serving said it didn't look very good. She left and returned with some salsa and more cheese. I asked for a dinner menu and learned the luncheon menu was the day's menu. I found little to eat other than hamburger and hot dog. Friends in sister facility said their food was terrible. Ate with them as a guest and had to agree. And that was prime rib night! They contacted management about the food situation. They got "no place" eventhough several promises given to improve. They finally moved out and said many of the early residents had already or were planning to leave. The facility being new looks very nice and appealing. Getting our deposit back was no problem. read more
