Played two games here while on vacation in DC. We only planned on doing one but had some much fun and there was availability in a room after ours that we decided to stay and do another one. The game master and manager were pleasant and explained the different room themes. They have a button that you push when you need help so the game moves at your own pace. This was a fun experience. It is a small building, but all the rooms are downstairs. I think the rooms are well designed and the props were meticulous. It was fun that they accommodated 8 people for one escape room. We tried Prison Break and it was challenging, but very much doable. However, my first escape games were in Portugal and they had even harder games. Or, perhaps I have enough experience now that I am finding these games easier and easier. Regardless, still a fun experience, but now I am wanting something harder. I still find them more challenging than some other escape rooms in the DMV. read more

We booked the Prison Break game which was rated 9/10 and their hardest game. It honestly wasn't too bad if you're relatively familiar with escape rooms. It was pretty fun and lots of great details. Our game master was Sequoia who was super friendly and gave great clues that weren't too revealing but pointed us in the right direction. Outside of that, service was great, we booked for a later game but was able to come in person and switch to an earlier time that was empty with no hassle. I booked the Escape Game, The Heist room, and it was so much fun! My team of 7 worked well together, unlocked several rooms and solved many puzzles. It was quite difficult - without using 3-4 hints (one of which was unsolicited, but much needed hahaha) we actually would not have "escaped". So we loved the challenge and also the access to hints! My family had a blast doing this escape room while on vacation in DC! The check in process is smooth. You sign waivers in the lobby before you enter. You can choose the difficulty level of the room, which is great for multi-age group. There was a variety of easy and challenging puzzles in the room and they give unlimited hints if you need them. Ambiance: In the end trust your gut, if it looks out of place it is out of place and might be a clue. Cool design and artwork in the lobby area definitely worth taking a picture. Saw the storefront from the patio of a restaurant just down the block where we were having dinner and decided, why not? It was so fun--5 of us made it through the "Special Ops: Mysteriois Marketplace" with over 5 minutes to spare (and thanks to clues from our game leader)! This was not my first escape room but it was my first time at this location and it was so fun and challenging! The staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend! read more

This was one of my favorite escape rooms I've done! I came with a group of friends and pre-registered online to reserve our spots. But due to delays in the metro, some of us couldn't get there by our start time. But the great thing was the staff were still able to accommodate us by letting some of us start early and the late ones just joined when they got there. We did 'The Heist' Pros: +fun and challenging - great for folks who like to problem solve and a great team building exercise +intricate multiple room setup +various locks, trap doors, and other unique mechanisms +all the puzzles flow together to form a coherent theme (some escape rooms are just a series of random clues) +unlimited clues - and if you are getting stuck, even if you don't ask for clues, they will give you clues to help you along +exit door is always open if someone doesn't feel well and wants to leave to there is really no risk (I know the disclosure form seems to imply otherwise) +for the 'The Heist' there is a clever twist at the end +they gave us each a sticker to keep at the end since we escaped +friendly staff What could be improved: -there were certain puzzles that I think required an unnecessary step (ex needing to add numbers after determining what the numbers were) -when something opens would be nice if there was an audible sound. We spent extra time rearranging something not noticing a trap door already opened As an FYI, this locations seems to be pretty popular. We went at night and there were still walk-ins. So expect to be combined with other groups. But that didn't make the experience any less enjoyable. Though it was a bit crowded at times with the 8 of us. We each paid about $41 including the taxes to come on a weekend. There may be cheaper rates during the week. But even at that price, in today's economy, I think my money was well spent for a thrilling 60 min experience. read more

We came here as part of a birthday celebration and had such a blast. We had a room that was 8 out of 10 difficulty and it was so much fun. I love that they don't let you get stuck and have hints to help you out because through laughing and having fun sometimes you need that extra help. The room was for 60 minutes and holds 8 people, we filled the room up but if you don't then you can get paired with other folks. They have more than one room option with lower and higher difficulty levels so will definitely be back. read more

Out of all the escape rooms I have visited, this was, thus far, the best one I have been to. We booked last minute because life kept getting in the way, but we were welcomed with open arms. From what we were told we were the last game of the night and the room we were going into, no one had escaped that day. Honestly, we didn't know it was the most difficult one they had either. We went with the Prison Break room. We had to wait a little bit, which put us past our check in time. There was a party in before us who were just finishing up in the room and they had to reset it all. On our way down to the room, we were given instructions on the game and that there might be a piece or two missing in the room as the party before us may have taken a piece with them. Once inside, we were off to defeat this game. It immersed us and took us a few minutes to start figuring out what we were doing. Once we knew we had to cooperate with one another things really started moving. However, big brother is watching, we were going a little too fast at one point and they chimed in that what we were trying to do was a little too soon. We were to a point where we needed to transfer a key in a particular way and it didn't go as planned. They were nice enough to allow us access to grab the key as it had fallen out of reach, and allow us to get back to what we were doing. Room by room, we were getting closer to exiting. We were kicking this room's butt and making our way nearer and nearer to the end. Actually, when we were in the last part of this room we were a bit stumped about something and my one friend said just do this without any justification but to do it. When we did successfully escape the room, the employee came in and said that they were worried we were just going to do that without solving the rest of the puzzles. What my friend had suggested would have got us out of the room. Other things the staff told us was that we were the first group to notice something happen in one of the parts that no other group had noticed. On top of being the first and only group to escape this room, we had pretty decent time left on the clock too. If you are looking for something to do, and have an hour to spare, check this place out. Book ahead to ensure you will have a room. Show up early to scope out the place and all the pictures of people that have been here (take a selfie you feel inclined). I know in the future, I will be back here to tackle some more of their other games. read more

I've done many Escape Rooms around the world and this is one of the best. Three friends and I went on a Sunday afternoon and spent an hour in the Special Ops: Mysterious Market. Without giving anything away, we ALMOST got out within an hour. It's tough and we used all three clues. Cost is $35 per person and there are four different rooms at this location. Parking can be tough so go on a Sunday when street parking is free. read more

My friends and I booked the heist escape room. It was fast and easy to check in. It looked small on the outside but the rooms are located underneath which they'll walk you thru. We paid about $40~ each for 5 people. The guide who helped us was very nice and descriptive on the rules and what to do. We had unlimited amount of hints and the hints were very helpful. I came in thinking it was going to be easy but it was a lot harder than I thought. Everything is magnetic so once you figured out something, it'll automatically unlock for you. After we finished, we were able to take pictures and they gave us free stickers for escaping! read more

Went with five friends to try this new escape room location. We did "The Heist" game. It was a lot of fun! We were warmly greeted when we arrived at The Escape Game. The staff were great throughout the experience. It just opened, but their staff are already knocking it out of the park. The game was a fun challenge. I won't give away the plot, but it was a pretty cool one. They also built it to be fairly challenging even for a good team but to have nudges to get through it even if you get stuck, so it should be fun for teams with a wide range of abilities. They also incorporated enough different types of tasks that it felt new and exciting throughout. It wasn't just "find the key" or "solve the equation" each time, but combined "I, Spy," a little math, word games, riddles, visual puzzles, and more. A little kitschiness is part of the escape room experience, but I appreciated that the room for The Heist looked and felt fairly professional and well designed. I've been to an escape room elsewhere that looked a little too much like the set from Legends of the Hidden Temple, which made it a little harder to take seriously. Everyone in our group had a great time. We're already talking about when to go back to The Escape Game to try more of their games, and we're hoping it's sooner not later. read more

This is the BEST escape game my family has ever played. We went for my son's 14th birthday and we did The Depths. There were a few warm up puzzles in the waiting room before you start to help get your brain working. The three of us finished barely (with a little help from the staff). It was fully immersive, high tech and each puzzle was accessible to my 14 year old, and with a little help, my 10 year old could complete most of the puzzles. However, they were still challenging enough that we needed a few hints. This room really needs at least 3 people to complete as some of the puzzles need you to be in multiple places. Once we finished the staff presented my son a birthday card and gave us a $15 gift certificate to a local doughnut place. We had told them before we went in that we were doing a room escape and doughnut crawl for his birthday. It was such a professional, welcoming and joyful experience for us all. We already bought gift certificates for another game and will be finding your company in any place we visit! We have given a recommendation for you company already. Thank you all so much! read more

This is such a great experience! We played I think four or five of the rooms in two days and it was so much fun! We went to both locations and the staff was the kindest I have ever encountered!!! They made our trip amazing! They even made us an award for visiting 3 rooms in one day! I know my son who is 9, will never forget that trip because of this Escape Company! Just me and my partner but would definitely recommend coming with a group to get through the clues a bit faster. We came for The Heist and after successfully completing it (with LOTS of help from our clue helper Jayla) we decided to check out The Depths as well. I went to the free preview and did the The Market one. It was pretty hard and is rated 8/10 on difficulty. The setting is pretty elaborate, so that was impressive. I went solo so they put me in the room with another group. I found it a little off-putting with the other people running around yelling instead of calmly analyzing the situation. One woman even brought her baby, which was strapped to her front. Surprisingly the baby didn't cry during the whole thing. Overall, it was a cool experience but would have preferred to have gone with my own group of friends. read more

We did the Mysterious Market - everything from the clues to the plot to the game master were spot on. The decor/set design was super detailed and beautiful. My group had a fantastic time, we all agreed that we'd love to return and try out the Prison Break room (the game master recommended it since we did so well!). We escaped the room only using 2 clues and had 8 minutes to spare, but don't be fooled - it was far from easy, even for our group which consisted of multiple post-graduate degrees and the valedictorian of the Howard University Law School.
