This was my first escape room experience. Not sure it is my cup of tea because it was a bit too much of a challenge (I went to The Cabin), but I won't hold that against them. It me, not you... The guy who checked us in was very friendly and made us some nice shots to get us started. The place was very clean and had sanitizers all over which was good to see. We booked the room all to ourselves which made me feel extra safe as well. The only downside was the guide who helped us out. She was ok, but not quite as nice as I expected - and she clearly was unhappy we moved the small refrigerator in the room from its original location. It's not like we remodeled the cabin or messed up anything at all. So for her less than stellar persona I deducted a star. Besides that, it was a very good experience. read more

Excellent!!! My family of 7 played 2 games at The Escape Room in Georgetown DC. on 12/23/22. Ages in our group ranged from 18 to 78 years old...we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Our game guide, Aniya, was the best! She brought real energy and excitement to our experience, she explained the game really well and was excited for our victory! Will absolutely return and request Aniya. We loved the Mummy room, theming was great. Lots of fun, good value for price! We booked the second game after the first and got 20% off! We as a family while visiting DC (on 9/4) decided to put on our thinking caps and try out the Escape Room Live in Georgetown. This place is not your typical escape room. When you enter you come into a lobby that is set up with beautiful leather furniture and a bar....boom! Prior to starting our mission we took a shot to start off the night. Nice and chilled by the bartender. We were then greeted by Captain Lee (our theme was the Titanic). He explain the rules and we were off into a room that was setup like a cabin on a ship. We had forty-five minutes before our ship would sink and fail the mission. Captain Lee explained he would be watching us from outside of the room and would give us hints ONLY if we asked for them. I think we asked a few times BUT we managed to ESCAPE (hence the name) within minutes of the expired time. Woohoo!!!! Cause that's what we do...team work makes the dream work! Very fun escape room, the Mummy one was a good difficulty level. We did have to use some clues but the puzzles were creative. We had a lovely guide (Eryn) who made the experience enjoyable. We went for our anniversary and she even made us a little card and took photos for us. Overall, it was fun. read more

We were wandering around the neighborhood and found many of the shops to be closed while we waited for our dinner reservation and stumbled upon the escape room. I had done an escape room previously in CA and my mom who was with me had never done one. We popped our heads in and were delighted to find out that we could do the Titanic room which was starting in a few minutes. We grabbed a quick drink at the bar where Lee was the most friendly bartender! You can't bring drinks into the escape room but there is ample bar seating and a fun seating area in the lobby with games while you wait to be called to your room. The drinks were well priced for the area and tasty too! We got taken back to our escape room promptly and we set out to work. Boy was it tricky! I am embarrassed to admit that we sadly didn't "escape" on our own. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and it was a wonderful time. I won't spoil any of the details of the Titanic room for others, but I would highly recommend it! All of the staff members were great and it was a fun way to kill the extra hour that we had. read more

This was the best escape room experience I've been to in DC. The rooms are very well maintained and I felt challenged, but not to the point of frustration. Their experiences are multi-roomed so it actually feels like a journey and not just a puzzle room. My friends and I did the pirate, elixir, and titanic rooms. The Pirate Room: the puzzles are tricky! You're definitely going to need to think outside of the box for half of the puzzles and make sure you're really observing patterns within the room. The Elixir Room: extremely fun, a lot more puzzle solving than the pirate room but somehow a lot more fun - in my opinion. I liked how it reminded me of a high school chemistry lab. My personal favorite. The Titanic Room: this experience is a lot shorter than the previous two rooms. I felt like the room was a little bit boring in comparison to the longer experiences due to fewer puzzles and it was more confusing. Overall: I can't wait to visit the other locations with my friends. They have a deal that allows you to get a gift card for 20% off your next room or you can book an adventure after your initial one for 50% off. I personally wouldn't recommend trying to fit two experiences in one day because we were extremely winded by the time we finished the second one. read more

My friends and I tackled on "The Curse of the Mummy" and it was inteeeeense! We were definitely forced to communicate and work together as a team, and while the room was difficult to get out of, it wasn't impossible. The staff here are awesome and there are free lockers available on site to store belongings. Although we're "trapped" in an escape room, if at any point anyone needs to leave, the door to the room is unlocked so there's freedom to do so. We got to walk around and take a look at the other rooms that were available and the Pirate's Adventure looked super cool! They offered a discount rate if we decided to play another round, but we had to head off to dinner so we couldn't... if we had the time though, we absolutely would've! Definitely planning on coming back here the next time we're in town! read more

What a great experience! We had a super fun escape room to puzzle out of plus had 2 hours of private even space for our group afterwards. It was a great time for everyone. Staff was really nice and allowed us to decorate as we wanted. Plus they went above and beyond to bring us napkins and forks (partially from their stash & partly from a neighborhood business) when the restaurant catering our event forgot to include those critical items. My wife and I have played many games here, but this was our best experience yet! The games the themselves were fun, but the service and staff made our nights. Super friendly and the joy they have at their job, lights up the room. I'd like to specifically point out a very sweet young lady named Abi. Super sweet and joyful, very encouraging we were entering a difficult room, but she had faith in us. So much faith in fact, that she had a personally handwritten card waiting for us on our escape, which was the icing on the cake for a great night! read more

Two stars as we never got to get into the game room let alone escape. We showed up 15 minutes early and about ten minutes past our time they told us they were working on a technical problem and it would be ready soon. The manager scurried over to work on it. After a half hour they offered to have us go into another room with a group where we looked like we would take away from their enjoyment or wait another hour. I asked for a credit and we left. The staff was very nice though. They should not have waited so long to tell us that the event would not be happening and a a 24 hour tourist stop it ate up over an hour of our time and an Uber fare. I am sure this was an exception and the waiting room was nice. read more

This place is so much better than Escape the Room near downtown dc. While waiting for your game to start there are other games to occupy your time or get a drink. The escape room, elixir of life one, was really fun and the was straightforward enough to not be frustrated with a big group. I came here last night with a friend ( we love doing escape rooms and had done one from this company in their other DC location) We drove in from VA after seeing some of their afternoon times didn't have a booking on them. (This place combines reservations so you might end up with strangers in the room with you) Knowing this..we didn't book online in case other people booked with us. We showed up about 15-20 min before the game started and waited to see if anyone would book. *They didn't * Which was great, we got to do the mummy room with just two people. MUMMY ROOM IS NOT RECOMENDED FROM ME Without giving too much away and from someone that's done many escape rooms in the DMV area this was one of the worst. It took us about 22 min to get to the third clue after asking the person for clues that showed up on the tv screen.. Super frustrating and after the time had ended and we didn't escape we felt super sad and eye rolling (hmm this was a waste of money) SOOO we saw that no one had booked rooms at the next top of the hour....yes yes we did a redemption room. AND IT WAS MUCH MORE FUN. We opted for the pirates room which had a harder difficulty rating? But it was much more achievable ....clues weren't too abstract. We asked for maybe 1-2 hints but otherwise blew through the room with like 20 min to spare. Each escape room place is what you. make of it... previous rooms shape your experience for sure. Im not sure if I would go back to this location but it was a good friend activity on a Friday afternoon. I should of read some of the reviews before we booked perhaps. read more

This was only my second escape room but it was so fun! We did the Pirate Room which is their newest and most difficult room. The decor/props were good and the clues were fun. There were 3 different rooms you had to make it through. It was pretty difficult, we needed a hint and escaped with only 4 seconds left! We also loved the bar area and stayed after our escape room to have some drinks while playing Chess, Jenga, and what do you meme. read more

We played the pirates room. The room was well used, many of the props and puzzles didn't work correctly. The GM would have to get our attention that we solved something, because nothing happened. No lights, no sound, no movement nothing to indicate your solved it. We got out with plenty of time to spare. It's a little sad since they were a decent location before. read more

I've been a fan of escape rooms since I tried my first one 6 years ago. A good escape room is tough to find because you want a room that is hard, yet solvable and with novel puzzles. The escape room live brand (one in Gtown and one in Alexandria) is consistently the best brand I've been to in the area. I've done every room in both locations (minus the cabin in Gtown) and I love the variance of puzzles. The rooms are high quality, the staff are great. My only very small complaint is I wish the rooms changed over more frequently. For COVID, the rooms are only private now, masks required the entire time. We grabbed a drink before hand and were the only ppl on the floor besides the superman employee in charge of everything on that floor (checkin, bartender, etc). so we felt super safe. If you are a fan of escape rooms, I demand you try escape room live! read more

I wanted to surprise my wife for her birthday with something different, and boy did this work. Neither of us had any experience with escape rooms and were very happy with our first one. We arrived about 25 minutes before our reservation for the Titanic room. The gentleman that greeted us was cool and we enjoyed having a drink and relaxing in one of the chairs while we waited for our time slot. We ended up being in a room with a group of about 6 friends that had experience and led the way. At first I felt like they found several clues before I even had a chance to understand what to do, but soon we were all working together to figure out the various clues. We went a while, but definitely needed some clues by our friendly host. We just made it out with about 4 minutes left. This was a lot of fun. I can't say how it compares to other escape rooms, but for us first-timers we really enjoyed it. read more

This marks probably the 5th escape room I've been to. Definitely the best. While one of the clues was just not intuitive and I highly doubt anyone would innately guess without a hint, but it was a fun experience. The place utilized more tech in the rooms than other places I've been. The lounge area is great for hosting events and I went there with about 60 others. Definitely a great place for team building exercises and also probably a good birthday party option. read more

I really wanted to like this Escape Room experience. I booked the Mummy with a group of 5, 7/10 difficulty. The rooms themselves were decked out, the decor and props were compelling, and the sandy floor was a nice touch. But our guide was unenthusiastic and seemed to want to rush us through the experience. Our room was booked for 45 minutes and we finished in 20 minutes, primarily because our guide kept telling us what to do over the speaker without us asking for clues. The moment we tried something and it didn't work, the guide told us what to do, I wish we could have worked through things ourselves. The puzzles were also not so complex - it was mostly picture matching exercises. We almost couldn't believe it when we had finished. We had a much better time at Escapology - more enthusiastic staff and more compelling puzzles to break. read more

More of a 3 1/2 stars, but no half star option. When you first enter it looks nice with a lounge, bar, and tall tables to sit at. There are lockers in the back to store your things if needed. A picture taking area with props is here also for when you're done. They say they will upload to fb to have people like to have a chance to win a free room. I never saw my picture posted. When it's your turn to enter the room, you'll follow someone down some stairs to where the various rooms are. Looks like multiple rooms per floor. They will gather you in front to go over the rules and show the fastest times, then lead you to your room to give you the background story to get started. My only complaint is that there was only two areas for the one I did. Maybe there are more in other room types. For it to be rated as hard we almost beat the record first try. I don't know if we are that smart/lucky, or it just isn't that hard. I want to do another one, but want an actual challenge next time. If I don't have one, I'll lower the star rating and look for a better place with a challenge. read more
