Specific goal of coming here this time. Our server let us pick where we wanted to sit, most were at the bar. There were some tables busy around us. We ended up sitting in the corner at the window. It's definitely a smaller place and can be easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. To drink I had a sprite, but I opted for the Escobar roll to eat. It was super good and really filling. The taste of all of the food in the sushi was in the roll which I really appreciated. We also shared an order of steamed chicken dumplings which were also good, just wish they were a little crispy (even though they were steamed). Overall I'd go back and it'll stay on my list if I'm in the area again.

March's ladies' monthly meetup called for good vibes and even better food, so we decided to grab sushi at The Escobar Kitchen (Downtown location). Upon arrival, the outside signage immediately caught our attention with weekly specials and a convenient QR code for easy ordering. Once inside, the ambiance matched what you'll see in my photos and videos casual, lively, and perfect for a girls' catch-up night. Now, let's talk service. I'd rate it as mid. Our waitress wasn't necessarily rude, but there wasn't much effort to engage. She handed us menus and asked for drink orders, but didn't offer guidance or ask if it was our first time. A little more warmth or recommendations especially when it comes to their unique rolls would've elevated the experience. As for the food... this is where they the round of applause. I ordered the Caribbean Roll and the El Pollo Loco Roll, and both delivered. The Caribbean Roll, made with Spanish yellow rice, chicken teriyaki, sweet plantains, and cream cheese, was a standout sweet, savory, and perfectly balanced. The El Pollo Loco Roll, with white rice, chicken, teriyaki cream cheese, topped with sweet plantains and teriyaki sauce, was just as flavorful. The sweet plantains really take both rolls to the next level. I paired it with a Coke to keep it simple. Overall: 4.5/5 The food definitely carries this spot, but the service could use a bit more personality and attentiveness. Would I return? Absolutely. Next stop: checking out their Lake Nona location.

My friend has been raving about this place so we came for her birthday with a party of 12. Please take note that this is an extremely small restaurant! I'm unsure the size of their other locations, but their downtown location can probably fit about 15 people plus the seats at the sushi bar. They also only really have wine here. There is like a margarita and Cuba libre on the menu but I think these may be made from wine based liquors? I must say I was more impressed with the Hispanic parts of the food than the Asian fusion parts of the food. The Arroz Enchurrascado was TO DIE FOR!!! The sushi rolls we ordered too were really good, but my favorite was the Arroz Enchurrascado. I will say that I do think there was only one sushi chef there (we made the reservation for 12 people weeks in advanced so it wasn't a surprise to them that they were going to have a full restaurant). The food did take a whiiiile to come out, but that one sushi chef was working so hard so props to him!! Our server was very kind too and kept apologizing for the delay. Overall, I would come back here on a date night but not with a large group of people. The "liquid love" neon light was so cute also!

I definitely enjoyed my first visit to The Escobar Kitchen a few weeks back. I visited their establishment just before closing and dined in. They are a Latin-Asian fusion sushi restaurant and wine bar. The food was good. I enjoyed the Caribbean Roll, which features Spanish yellow rice, chicken teriyaki, sweet plantain, and cream cheese. It is topped with Chimichurri and teriyaki sauce. I am usually good with one roll, so this was the only one that I tried. I will definitely be back to try more of their menu. I also didn't try any of their wines, but on my next visit, I will try one of their wines as well. The staff were super friendly and attentive. The vibes and music were great, and since it was just a few of us, it definitely would have been enough room to do a quick one-two step. Again, I truly enjoyed my first visit here, and I cannot wait to visit again. Some other general things, price points are a STEAL - super affordable. Parking is hit and miss in this area as far as street parking goes. However, there are ample parking garages in the area that offer parking at reasonable rates. Since this is by Lake Eola, you also have access to numerous other eateries, bars, and shops in the area.

First time here and it did not disappoint. The food is Latin-Asian fusion sushi and Asian inspired types of plates. We started with the pork gyozas and the Arroz Enchurrascado. Then for mains we tried the Bandeja Regular Platter which includes: the Escobar roll, dragon roll, steak roll and Caribbean roll. Everything was made fresh and with high quality ingredients. The service was very attentive and courteous. They do not seem to have a soda fountain is all canned sodas which caught my attention bc it means no refills. We came on a Saturday late afernoon/night and the atmosphere was chill and laid back until a Dj arrived and was playing awesome tunes which set the vibe, I would appreciate a bit lower volume to be able to hold a conversation while dining. Other than that 10/10

This location of Escobar Kitchen is a very small, cozy spot. It's a cute little space, but keep in mind that they don't have everything available that's listed on their online menu, which was a bit disappointing when we arrived. The service started off a little slow and not the most welcoming, but as the visit went on, it did improve, and the experience ended on a much better note. The food was definitely the highlight. Everything we ordered was flavorful and well prepared. You can tell they put care into the food, and it made up for the earlier hiccups with service. We tried two rolls and the Escobar tower and they were really good. Overall, I'm glad we gave it a try. I would come back again because the food was worth it, but I'd probably visit one of their other locations next time to see if the experience is different.

This is restaurant/wine bar is an interesting concept. My friends and I didn't know what to expect. One thing I didn't like is the parking situation. This is not the business' fault but I forgot how difficult it is to find parking downtown Orlando. I loved the Latin / Asian fusion food; we tried different dishes and they were all very good. The Neptune salad was delicious and beautifully presented. It had crab, salmon and tuna topped with seaweed and avocado. What else can you ask for! The Arroz Enchurrascado was also really tasty l. The blend of yellow rice, steak and sweet plantain was to die for. I also ordered the Escobar roll which I thought was delicious. I would have never thought to roll yellow rice and plantains in a sushi roll. We had a great dining experience and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to try something new and different.

A hidden gem Downtown! This spot has such a cute and intimate vibe inside they have great food and the best staff. First time trying the Escobar tower and ahhh definitely a great pick if you want a filling meal. Also they have delicious desert options as well. If you're in the Downtown Orlando area it's worth checking out, especially for date night !

Some of the best sushi that I've ever had, it's definitely a unique experience with the Latin twist on a sushi favorite. I'd say the restaurant isn't one you go for for a typical restaurant experience think more of a cute stop and go grab a bite maybe a drink place it's rather small seating inside but there's definitely the option if that's what you'd like to do and it's a very cute theme inside. The service was also amazing, our server cracked jokes with us and there wasn't a crazy long wait considering food is made to order.

I was looking for a place to host a dinner for our board member/executives (17 people) within walking distance from our downtown office. Lewis, his wife and Gaby were so accommodating to our needs. They even opened on their day off for us. Sushi/Rice/seaweed salad were amazing! the atmosphere was great and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. we will go back!

Came to The Escobar Kitchen to celebrate a friend's birthday, and from the moment we arrived, the staff was just as excited to celebrate with us. The ambiance and the warmth of the staff took me back to the Caribbean--it definitely felt like home. Their menu features a Latin-Asian fusion, and I loved every second of it. We started with the Krab Salad. It was incredibly fresh, topped with avocado, and the perfect way to open my appetite for a sushi night. Next were the Pork Fried Gyoza, served with a sticky, glossy sauce that has just the right amount of kick. They were so good, you won't be able to put your chopsticks down. The Escobar Roll combines shrimp tempura and churrasco--the best of both worlds. It's topped with sweet plantains, chimichurri sauce, eel sauce, and spicy mayo. I had my doubts about all those flavors working together, but I have no idea how they perfected that combination--they absolutely did. The Mar y Tierra Roll was recommended by our waiter, and I highly recommend ordering it in tempura. It gives the roll a completely different texture, and it's absolutely amazing. The Pollo Loco Roll is topped with sweet plantains and teriyaki sauce. It's simple, yet packed with flavor. We finished it all off with a crème brûlée. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I'd be enjoying one at a sushi restaurant, but it was the perfect ending to an incredible meal. If you're looking for creative sushi, unique Latin-inspired flavors, outstanding service, and an atmosphere that makes you feel like family, The Escobar Kitchen is definitely worth the visit. read more

Me and my wife have walked by this restaurant quite a few times being that we live in the building next door. Today she was in the mood for some sushi so we decided to try it out. It's very small, but cozy and inviting. The first thing I noticed was how clean it was which is a big deal for me. They have happy hour Wednesday through Friday 4 PM to 6 PM. They are closed Mondays and Tuesdays. My wife had a Modelo, which was $2.50 unbelievable price in this day and age. We ordered some chicken Gyoza for appetizer which was some of the best I've ever had. My wife ordered a custom Poké bowl with spicy tuna I had their arroz enchurrasco. As for my plate, I would give it a 10 out of 10. We definitely will be coming back again because the service was top-tier as well as very personable. I'm so glad this restaurant is in our neighborhood. Just disappointed in myself for not trying it earlier. I highly recommend trying out this fantastic little Latin-Asian fusion restaurant read more

I found Escobar Kitchen before an appointment and man what a great find. The sushi is really fresh and so good. The chef made beautiful presentations and he happened to be the owners son. Super nice young man and very talented making sushi. Cool little spot with a nice bar or a some tables. Definitely worth a few more visits! read more

First time here, we were the only ones here 5:30pm on a Monday so service was super quick and the waitress was very sweet. They play music videos on the TV and the decoration is very cool, but the place is a little small. We order the goyzas and I had the escobar roll and it was SO good and fair priced. It had 8 big pieces, no end pieces, and it included steak, cream cheese, shrimp, plantain and chimchurri on top which i've never had in a roll. It was very different but super good and the service was so fast. I will definitely be back here and hopefully to try some drinks next time! read more

First time at this very intimate restaurant. Very personable staff, who were welcoming and helpful. The favor combination of the Neptune salad was outstanding. I could eat that everyday!! The Tropical Sexy Salmon roll has just a hint of pineapple creating a unique, well balanced roll. Reminded me of a poke bowl. Also, ordered the Gentlemen's roll. It was delicious and filling. Both rolls were abundantly sized. Even the dishes were beautiful! We will definitely become regulars! read more

A hidden little restaurant, with limited seating. The area is quite small, no real space to put your stroller if you have kids. They have a cute little lounge chair where you can take pictures. The sushi hand rolls that we got, are different to the usual of course with the Latin influence. The plantains were definitely noticeable when you eat it, and maybe even over powering on the taste. If anything, I'd say that there was too much sauce drizzled all over the hand rolls. Would have preferred less of the sauce. The server attended to us promptly and she was lovely overall. read more

Amazing place! We went during happy hour and were luckily the only ones there so service was great. The passion fruit sangria was super yummy. I can see why the Escobar roll is their best seller.. we ordered one then ordered two more!! We also ordered the Caribbean roll and it was delicious too. Highly recommended this place. About last night.. We decided to hit up a new place called Escobars's Kitchen Downtown for latin inspired sushi. Food was great but the service was eh. There is potential if the service is corrected. The single chef was so far behind, the single waiter was too, and they ran out of food. Our order came out incorrect but to not delay our meal we ate it anyway. We'll try their other locations because it is worth a second try. Hopefully the DT location can get it together and hire more staff for a Saturday night. read more

I had high hopes for this restaurant based on the menu alone, but unfortunately, the experience fell short. The ventilation was extremely poor, leaving our eyes burning throughout the meal and causing our clothes to smell unpleasant by the time we left. Service was not particularly welcoming, and on more than one occasion the credit card machine was placed in front of us with no word at all (with no itemized bill), a less than subtle hint to pay and leave. The first time this happened was at 8:00 PM, a full hour before the restaurant's posted closing time. We explained that we had just started our meal and requested another glass of wine. However, about 20 minutes later we were abruptly informed it was last call and that the restaurant was closing, and once again the credit card machine was set down in front of us. I might add again that we were never presented with an itemized bill. On a positive note the food was good. Not worth the poor service but it was good. The restaurant was not busy with only two other guests present, and it was hard to avoid the impression that the staff simply wanted to finish early rather than provide proper service. Overall, the poor ventilation, rushed handling, and lack of hospitality made for a disappointing evening. With these issues unaddressed, it's difficult to imagine this restaurant succeeding long term. read more

We went to the new location in Hunters Creek. Food was amazing Just at the start the waiter spilled wine all over my wife and my feet. They clean up fast and apologized. For some reason they switched server Food was excellence but at the time to get the bill it took forever and I really hate places that tip you and include the taxes when they calculate your tip. Also not even the courtesy of offering at least a free glass of wine to make up for their mistake. We didn't want them to feel bad about it but that was not good service. But please don't include the taxes when you calculate the tips read more

It's been 3 years since I moved away from Orlando and all this time I have salivated at the thought of your food! There is no better way to explain how I feel about Escobar Kitchen, it is family owned and I didn't even realize they had opened this location but it worked out great! Love that it is small and perfectly located, the woman at the front I think it's also family and she was so amazing, she took my order over the phone as I was in a rush but I still wanted to come in and eat inside with a lovely plated meal. We had the "Escobar" my all time favorite, the gentleman and two of the mar y Tierra and every bite was as good as I remembered it. They truly are geniuses, I absolutely despise all things sushi but this latin fusion is massively delicious. They have a location in lake Nona and she mentioned they will have a location in hunters creek soon. I really do hope they keep growing all over the state and later on nationwide. Jacksonville Florida would welcome this restaurant with open arms and I am pretty confident Texas would devour this genius concept! Glad I got my fix today! read more

I have now been to this location 5 times and still can't get enough. The Latin Asian fusion is done so well. The place is small but intimate and they always have good music on. The servers and the chefs have always been welcoming and polite. I highly recommend the Mar y Tierra, the Miami roll and the arroz enchurrascado. Devil's food cake at the bottom of the affogato was also not as sweet as I would have liked. Overall a really enjoyable experience. Would definitely recommend.

I recently went to Orlando for a conference, and while we spent the majority of our time in a large…read moreresort and convention center, the leadership of the organization hosting the conference hosted a special dinner in one of the reservable ballrooms at the Cuba Libre Restaurant. I believe it may have been the Havana Ballroom. There was plenty of food, drinks, and mingling. The Cuba Libre Restaurant staff were great, and the venue was well laid out and worked for this event very well. When we arrived around 6:30 PM on a Saturday evening for our event, we first mingled around the tables and near the cash bar. There were a bunch of large tables that we began to fill out. As our program began and announces made and awards given out, appetizers were passed out. We were offered Guacamole Cubano, Mama Amelia's Empanadas, and Shrimp Cocktail which we passed around to the entire table. Personally, I skipped the guacamole and shrimp dishes but absolutely loved the empanadas. Yum! Then, an individual Cuban House Salad was passed out with red wine vinaigrette. This was also quite tasty. Next came the entrees including a choice of Salmon Paradiso, Ropa Vieja, Citrus Chicken, or Paella Vegetariana. I was trying to decide between the Ropa Vieja (beef brisket) and the Citrus Chicken. While the Citrus Chicken sounded perfect, I asked the serving staff their advice, and they recommended the Ropa Vieja for a true taste of Cuba. I was happy that I did even though it may have been more heavy and with a kick than I was expecting. I'm still glad I ordered it though. It was wonderfully prepared! And then, everyone received Cuban Flan for dessert. The Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar celebrates Cuban heritage and explores Cuban flavors, music, art, and traditions. The mission of the restaurant is to provide an "escape" to Havana through exciting food and beverages and entertainment experiences to celebrate the Cuban people and their culture. Orlando hosts one of several of this restaurant around the United States. This restaurant is in the midst of the Pointe Orlando. The Cuba Libre Restaurant is open for brunch on weekends from 12 PM to 4 PM, for dinner Monday through Thursday from 5 PM to 10 PM, Friday from 5 PM to 10:30 PM, Saturday from 4 PM to 10:30 PM, and Sunday from 4 PM to 10 PM. Happy Hour is at the bar and bar tables on weekdays from 5 PM to 6 PM and weekends from 4 PM to 6 PM. They have a special Chef's Tasting menu during dinner. They also host weekend nightlife and shows on Fridays with a live band from 7:30 PM to 12:15 AM and a DJ and dancing from 10 PM to 2 AM on both Fridays and Saturdays. The lump crab cake is one of the best ever!!! Cocktails were tremendously delicious!! Each entrée was beautifully plated and definitely delicious. Freshness and quality are a priority here and it's obvious. One of the sides were not available BUT the chef/kitchen made provisions and got the key ingredients quickly to the restaurant and we were able to enjoy the selection after all. Hands down the star of the show was the shrimp dish, perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and honestly some of the best we've had in a while. Monica was friendly, welcoming, and provided excellent customer service. Unfortunately, our interaction with Mary was the complete opposite. She was rude and unaccommodating, which made our visit unpleasant. After ordering a few drinks, we decided to patronize another business. As a group of returning customers, we were also disappointed that no effort was made to accommodate us. We've supported this restaurant year after year, and we expected a more welcoming experience, especially as loyal guests. We hope management recognizes the difference that customer service can make and addresses these concerns so future guests--and returning customers like us--have a better experience.
