A Review I'll Never Forget…read more I honestly don't know how to express my gratitude for Eyemart Express in Asheville. My son's glasses were destroyed in a horrible accident, and after everything he had already endured, including plastic surgery, I was overwhelmed trying to get him ready to start school. We first visited Stanton Optical, where I was told his prescription had changed dramatically and that something could be seriously wrong with his eyes. Terrified, I paid an additional $80 for an OCT scan, which thankfully came back normal. The appointment took nearly two hours, and I left feeling scared, confused and without clear answers. When we arrived at Eyemart Express on Saturday, we had only one hour before closing. I was emotionally exhausted and felt close to breaking down. Then we met frank and Jody. They were kind, patient and genuinely understanding. Jody took the time to review the paperwork from Stanton Optical and quickly realized that my son's prescription had not changed nearly as dramatically as I had been led to believe. She explained everything clearly, answered my questions and gave me the peace of mind I desperately needed. She also went above and beyond financially. Since I haven't been working while caring for my son, I was worried about the cost. His lenses are very thick, but jody helped us get thinner lenses, gave me a coupon and then told me his glasses were FREE. I was overwhelmed by their generosity. They treated us with kindness and dignity, never making me feel like a burden. Even though we arrived just an hour before closing, they finished his glasses the SAME DAY. Jody and Frank may have thought they were simply doing their jobs, but to us, they did so much more. They helped a scared, exhausted mom breathe again and gave me one less thing to worry about during one of the hardest times of our lives. I will not be returning to Stanton Optical, but Eyemart Express will absolutely have my business from now on. Thank you, Jody and frank, for your compassion, patience, generosity and kindness. Aside from the fact they are set up like a DMV where dozens of patients sit in rows of dismal chairs in a large room waiting for their name to be called, the staff is brusk, rude and lacking in empathy and human kindness. New to Asheville Eye, I was diagnosed with a problem with my retina during a routine eye visit. The visit itself was terrible. I was passed off from one technician to another for tests, and saw my doctor for only five minutes. She did not even take the time to explain my eye problem to me in person. I was told she would follow up with a phone call the Friday after that visit, but she never did. I had to find out the results of my eye tests when I called the receptionist days later. The receptionist used words like "degeneration" and "retinal detachment" that scared me. I remained scared for a few days until my doctor finally called to further explain my condition to me over the phone. She suggested I see a retina specialist, which I did weeks later. That visit was even worse than the first. Dr. Cameron Stone also took no more than five minutes to see me, and he, also, did not explain my condition to me at all. The entire five minutes he barely made eye contact, but dictated notes into a recording machine while his assistant sat typing at a computer. I felt invisible. I left confused about my condition, told to come and follow up in three months. In neither of these visits was I given any clear notes by the doctors to take away that explained my condition. The sheets they gave me were written for doctors in doctors' language. I filed a complaint with the office manager about my experience, and she handled this by setting up the follow-up with a different doctor. As it turned out he was not a trained retina specialist, so that visit was a waste of time as he did not even dilate my eyes, so could not check my problem. Now, four visits later, today, I finally saw the second retina specialist and finally learned the details of my eye condition. He also only took five minutes to talk to me. He actually told me that he had to go after about five minutes because he was in the middle of a laser surgery in the next room! This visit, I insisted that this doctor print out notes for me explaining my condition. It turns out it is a serious one that it could result in loss of vision. I only today grasped that reality. Why did no-one take the time to properly explain this condition to me? I have had symptoms for months and expressed them at all appointments and none of these doctors connected those symptoms to the condition. I feel that none of these doctors wanted to deal with the stress and anxiety of conversing with a patient who learns they have a potentially vision threatening condition. They did not want to take the time to explain it to me. Or perhaps, they did not HAVE the time to explain it to me. Either way, the fact is that patient well-being comes last at Asheville Eye. Another fact: Of the four doctors i've seen over the course of four months, they have all told me conflicting things about my condition. I am left confused and frustrated and I am going to find another doctor. I am absolutely horrified with the way doctors at Asheville Eye treat their patients.

Everything from Vera Wang to Prodesign Denmark and back again! Much more of a selection of frames than I could have imagined, and they really ran the gamut from conservative and tame to funky and fun! Being more of the fun and funky variety, I picked a great pair of frames from the designer Urban Edge. The frames, along with high-index lenses, non-reflective coating, and 3 day turn-around were only $190! Everywhere else in Asheville charges $80 and more for the non-reflective coating, and Rhonda HALFED that.
