Stopped on a Saturday afternoon they had construction going on but no trouble because they weren't working just was a messy situation. Haven't been in awhile so liked the look of the new restaurant. I had a drink at the bar lost then came back for round 2 for both a drink and play another game did better the second time! Drink was made well the bartender was friendly little chit chat with the service. Games were fun made a little money wasn't crowded in the afternoon so got to pick different games even went into the smoking room was crowded but found a couple games I like the new games seamed like they kept the games in there before too long . It's always fun strolling around the Fair, look at all the food options (spoiler alert: the amount is overwhelming), enjoy the shows and concerts or just enjoy a special Fair beer. I love that the hamburg fairgrounds has so many events that they host here. It's really conveniently located to my house so I try to stop by most of the events they host. The space itself is huge and they do a great job of utilizing all of the space throughout the year. read more

I've been to this fair twice and had an amazing time both times (8 years apart) and I I think I'd like to make it a point to come more often. My first year I was a little younger and enjoyed some wine slushees! They got sure got me good but I had a blast and they were delicious! Me and my friend had fun riding some rides and wandering around and had some good food. After she left, I spent a lot of times in all of the animal exhibits as I find them so peaceful and don't get to be around them too often because I'm so allergic. This year I didn't indulge in the wine slushees but still had an absolutely terrific time! There were sooooooo many vendors and I really loved looking at all the different things! Whatever you want ... jerky, candy, clothes, jewelry, hair styling tools, tumblers, blankets, mattresses, cookwear ... EVERYTHING! Me and my roommate decided to buy some homemade jam ... I got blueberry lemoncello! Yum! Please bring your appetite because when I say the food options are endless I mean it!! Literally just as I think I reached the end, bam, another turn and mile long strip of food choices! Me and my roommate shared deep fried Oreos and ribbon fries! Sooooo good! I didn't play any games but did walk the midway and there's the usual games you can expect. There weren't TONS of rides, but they did have multiples of some rides which I thought was kind of a good idea because honestly we were there on a Saturday night and there was no waiting for anything. We went on one ride and I will tell you just skip it ... it's the haunted house ride. To be honest I was feeling old and tired and really just wanted to sit and relax for a few seconds and we came out of the riding laughing because it was so lame. Maybe it was worth the giggle, but really, don't waste your tickets. And FYI almost every ride is 8 tickets. I did see one ride that was 10. We also enjoyed looking at the hot tubs and RV displays you could go inside. I didn't look at all the animals this time but I did gloom at and pet all of the horses and no worries ... there is a sink and soap and paper towels to wash up when you're done. There was an attendant at each bathroom I went to which kept the people moving and clean and stocked. Afterwards, I ran into the Hamburg casino and won a quick $10 and left swiftly before I lost hahaha but it was so clean and nice in there! Very well maintained. I look forward to attending to the fair again ... much sooner than 8 years this time! read more

I was here as a Friends of the Fair volunteer. I worked 5 days at the Guest Services(info) booths, trying to give directions to fair goers. The Hamburg Fair has many food vendors, animals to pet and learn about. There were 4 calves born during the 12 days of the Fair this year and if you have the app for "birth notifications", you might get to see a birth. There are also exhibits from the military, hoping to recruit. There are vendors selling products like homemade jams and jellies and other homemade crafts. There are exhibits of homemade articles, like wine, jams and jellies, place settings and needlework. These are competitions with ribbons awarded. read more

This is for the Festival of Lights 2020 version. This actually was a great way to get out and enjoy the season of Christmas. We arrived around 5 and we were done about 6:15. The wait was not bad at all and we arrived at the starting point about 5:20. It was awesome and they had their own radio station loaded with only Christmas songs. Such a nice touch. The lights were great a visible from your vehicle and you were able to get some great pictures and videos. What I loved was it was during a Bills game and one of the first set of lights was a Bills helmet. I knew it was going to be a good day all around. Everyone was good while driving and made sure everyone had time to take pictures as well. It was a nice night out and we even followed social distancing. Woo Hoo! read more

I must say that I love the fair! It is my happy place, especially at night time with the lights illuminating the grounds. This year, I was lucky enough to attend on 4 occasions! From rides, to the ferris wheel, to caricatures, to the butterfly room, to the delicious food... oh there's not a thing I would change! Hands down one of my favorite times of the year. I love the fairgrounds. There was a good year and a half where I was coming here daily for a walk during my lunch. It's all concrete, so if that's your purpose for attending, prepare for that. Many buildings and things to do year round. There is the slot machines, horse races, and big events such as the Erie County Fair take place here. The workers are always so very friendly. No one has ever made me feel like I was in their way or not supposed to be there for my walks. The landscaping is beautiful and it's a nice private area that isn't too crowded for walkers. read more

A great venue whether you like to gamble or for family fun Hamburg fairgrounds has something to offer for everyone! Special events are hosted year round including the festival of lights and is home to the Erie county fair! This review is for Preview night at Plantasia held at the Hamburg Fairgrounds on Wednesday evening, March 20. What an incredible event this was! There were tastings, free samples, live music by Gimme Buffet, and beautiful landscapes. It made me feel like Spring is actually here at last! Went today for the WNY Home and Garden Show. The entrance for first timers was a little confusing. Once we paid and entered, everything was extremely well done and organized. For those who have mobility issues, you will find no issues here. The booths were very well planned and the entire show was excellent. Many booths gave out reusable bags and this was a great plus. I would like to see a little more variety of booths but overall worth the entrance fee. read more

This review is for the Ice Sculpting Masters Winter Wonderland Drive-Thru event at the Hamburg Fairgrounds. The event ran from 2/11/21 - 2/15/21. My family attended on Valentine's Day evening. Tickets were pre-sale only, for specified entry time-slots. We selected the 8pm - 9pm entry time. At $25 a car-load, it wasn't a bad deal for our family of four. Upon arrival at the venue, there was not any signage for the event. Perhaps since this was pre-sale only, they didn't want to draw too much attention to it, but one sign pointing you in the right direction of the show's entrance would have been nice. Once we found the line behind the casino, we were in it for about 20 minutes. At the gate, they scanned our QR code, and we followed the train of cars into the show itself. Cars were moving very slowly, enjoying the scenes, taking photos, which was excellent, as we did not want to be rushed through. The ice sculptures themselves were pretty, definitely way better than anything I could ever dream of making myself, so I certainly appreciated the artistry of this unique medium. Sculptures were brightly lit up in LEDs, some with color-changing lights. We lucked out that there was some snow cover on the ground, so the warm glow of the lights against the winter backdrop was festive and beautiful overall. The whole show, driving very slowly and taking lots of photos, took us just under 30 minutes to complete. In the end, it was worth it for our family. Tweens and teens are a tough crowd, but our kids (ages 10 and 13) at least humored us that they sort of enjoyed the show. My husband cracked-wise at what he interpreted some of the sculptures to look like, which is always a gas. And I appreciated there being something safe to do at all as a family on Valentine's Day, still amidst the pandemic. I hope the Hamburg Fairgrounds continues to offer creative, safe, drive-thru-style events while we're still getting through this thing. As far as fairs go, the Erie County Fair rates high! This year, the grounds are cleaner, more areas with shade...flowers are beautiful Bathrooms are clean and plentiful Animals are well cared for ( so important) Food is, well, fair food...yummy and bad for you Did not venture to ride area....very squeezy after all the fair food! In and out privileges, be sure to get your hand stamped....same with parking but be sure to ask at your lot attendant The entertainment is terrific Concerts etc every night! I must say that the prices for food has increased...corn especially! Loads of fun...come on out Also, this fair is approx 190 yrs old! Love the history read more

I'm not sure why these fairgrounds are named after the "most modern city in Germany", but so be it. Perhaps the fair is supposed to be German in nature. Maybe that's why so many young guys are wandering around showing off their "sehr gut" tattoos and waving their sausages around in people's faces. I've been here many times, and not just for the fair. For some reason my friend John Y (not on Yelp but reads my reviews, I think - lol - are you reading John?) wanted to "go to the fairgrounds and chill". I was worried that he was going to kill me and steal my identity, but in fact, no, it's just a "chill out spot" for him. Not sure if we're allowed to just "chill" here when nothing is going on, but it was nice and very quiet and secluded so I can see why he likes it. When I've been here for the fair it's been the opposite. Absolutely packed and crawling with people. These are ample and perfectly adequate grounds for the Erie County Fair, which I just reviewed about 7 seconds ago. They're pretty freaking awesome actually. You should come here when the fair is in session to really see what these grounds are good for. But of course they can be used for other events, and sometimes are. They score 4 instead of 5 for being a little out of the way for a lot of Erie County that lives on the "other side", and for being a little unkempt at times, but then so is Buffalo. And besides, unkempt is a very German word, so it ties in perfectly. Ya! And can I tell you how many times I've been here, you ask? NEIN! read more

This review most specifically addresses our visit for the Christmas lights. It was our first experience there not for the fair and we enjoyed it. We went as part of a business group, so we had early access to the activities such as the snowman maze, vendors, cookie making, crafts, and letter to the troops and Santa. They had Santa at the "North Pole" building which was swamped. My 3 year old is still terrified so we thankfully skipped the madhouse! They also had a section with rides, and a bounce house. The light at night were pretty, and around a 10 minute viewing. All in all it was a nice event! read more

I came here for a Taekwondo tournament and parking was easy to navigate. The signage was easy to understand as well so I didn't get lost which is pretty good. The facility was large enough so that I didn't feel crowded. They had some bleachers for us to sit which were comfortable and sturday. The acoustics were ok so I didn't feel like it was too loud in there. read more

Great location for lots of big local events. Check out the festival of lights in Nov and Dec.

We love coming here for the food and great fun. From the animals and rides to the cotton candy and other goodies. We even remember coming here when it rains and looking at all the indoor exhibits. So it is always a blast to go to. read more
