Awful experience Review below…read more I recently returned to this store after a fish I had purchased there a few months ago passed away, and unfortunately I had a very upsetting experience. I was the only customer in the store, store doors were wide open with the undeniable overwhelming smell of pot. Both employees repeatedly walked away from me while I was simply trying to buy a replacement fish. They kept trying to up-sell & I explained that I only needed the fish and was ready to pay, but I still felt ignored and treated with hostility. While I was on the phone speaking to my mother in another language, one employee made a comment along the lines of, "If you can speak another language, so can I," after speaking under her breath in a very harsh & angry language, to the 2nd employee. The entire interaction made me feel singled out, uncomfortable, and unwelcome. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt disrespectful and discriminatory. I ended up leaving without making a purchase and looked over my shoulder to see the 2nd employee glaring at me through the front door. I went to PetSmart instead, where I was treated kindly and professionally. I believe every customer deserves to be treated with basic courtesy and respect, regardless of religion, appearance, or the language they speak.

When the new owners took over, they turned half the store into their own personal zoo where they keep animals as pets. These animals are in cages too small, are not socialized and look stressed and unhappy. For example, any person who cares about the wellbeing of pets knows that rabbits should be kept in a minimum of a 4 foot by 4 foot pen. The standards have changed with research and rabbits need to run and play. There were multiple rabbits, including a very large one in those small rectangular cages. This pet store knows these cages aren't humane, because they don't even sell them. They sell a larger (although still not ideal) size. Rabbits are like dogs and need to be constantly stimulated and given attention. The large rabbit in the cage looked defeated and miserable. There were birds crammed into small cages, unable to move comfortably or fly. These cages would be bad for ONE bird, let alone two or three. Guinea pigs and rats without a house to hide in, forced to feel unsafe and have no where to retreat to. No toys or places to climb, doomed to live their lives in rectangular prisons. These cages are absolutely unacceptable and to not house these permanent "pets" in conditions which show love and care for the animals are not only selfish, but bad examples of appropriate pet care to customers who would trust a pet stores advice. If you cannot give an animal the proper space and setup it needs, STOP KEEPING THEM. You are jeopardizing their health, well-being and quality of life doing so. Just because you feel emotionally attached to an animal does not mean you can keep it in your store day and night without enrichment and interaction. It is criminal. Pets Place 2, I expect things to change. These practices cannot go on, and animal welfare authorities will be contacted if a change isn't made. Do better. I used to love this store, but it is obvious that things have changed for the worse.

She looked at me and asked, "How many crickets?" I said, "Are you even working today?" "Yes," she replied, but she was actually heading out for a break... and still insisted on helping me. That was really nice of her. We chatted for a bit, I grabbed my bag of crickets, and wished her a pleasant break. They also had some good sales going on today. Buy four fish, get the fifth free, plus discounts on dog beds, toys, treats, and more. The prices here really can't be beat as far as local pet shopping goes. One other change I noticed - they recently switched to a single winding checkout line that takes you through an aisle of... more stuff you probably don't need. Plenty to choose from and the owner packs the fish well for the ride home. Oxygen and Prime added to the bags. If you have any problems with fish dying, try letting him know. I had a few pass away on me within a couple days and he happily replaced them for me. Most local fish stores charge two or three times as much as big chain stores, but prices here are surprisingly competitive. I'll be happy to return here!

Neil picked up the phone and answered lots of questions without trying to sell me anything. I had to visit the fish farm and was in awe. I have never seen koi fish in such abundance and varieties. The holding pens are huge with tremendous filtering systems and tons of happy fish doing what they do. Neil spends time answering questions and making sure that the fish will be going to a good home. Like any typical dad, I had to go much bigger. After finding the tank I wanted, I called several local "upscale" fish and pet stores in Westchester, but no one had it in stock. I even called the manufacturer, and they told me that Beital's Aquarium was definitely the place I needed to contact. I called the next business day, and what I believe was the owner answered. Right away, he started calling his supplier while I was still on the phone trying to track down the exact tank I wanted. That level of service was impressive. Within about 15 minutes, everything was handled and I was able to place the order. He even matched online pricing. Since that first phone call, I've been making the drive from Westchester to shop there for some really amazing fish. Anytime I have questions--or even random algae problems--Craig, the owner, has been an absolute expert and incredibly helpful. You can tell he has years of experience, and it makes a huge difference for customers like me. Great store, great service, and an owner who truly knows his stuff. Highly recommend.

These poor animals need homes but this supposed "humane society" makes it like applying for French citizenship! Wow. Forget these guys, even though I feel for the cats they have. I've call numerous times in one day willing to adopt this dog and was told i'd get an email within 2 minutes and it's been over 4 hours... no email. I don't understand how an animal shelter who is looking for families to adopt these dogs would give such a hassle to those who are genuinely looking to adopt a dog that is in need. god knows how long these dogs might've been sitting there with potential families and couldn't get picked up because of how unorganized this facility is.
