Came here for takeout while heading back south after a trip over the Oregon border. Found it very much to be a typical Chinese American restaurant, mainly meant for carryout. The portions were large, prices were good, and everything was accurate. We ended up ordering too much (since we didn't know the portion sizes), and absolutely would have eaten it for multiple meals if we were closer to home. We arrived into Crescent City at around 3 pm, and I had looked at the menu on-line before arriving so knew what to order. The menu does not include an ingredient list, so asked if the twice cooked pork had zucchini...sure enough, it did (it must be used as filler in this area), so I asked it to be removed. They replaced it with green pepper instead. I was warned that the chow fun would take 30 minutes to complete, which I agreed to. Paid and waited. Sure enough, it did take that time, so appreciated the heads-up. Drinks are through bottles/cans and they had various sodas available. All dishes were presented in those styrofoam lunch containers, so the amount of food given was huge. Twice cooked pork ($16), Shrimp Chow Fun ($18), Mongolian Beef ($18). Only gave us one rice, though (should have been two). It took about 70 minutes to get back to our hotel near Eureka, so intentionally chose dishes that would travel well (i.e. no deep fried dishes). We made it just in time for Game 4 of the NBA Finals (Spurs blew the biggest lead in a NBA finals game). I came in after driving from Redwood NP/SP and stayed in Crescent City. I ordered the Singapore chicken noodles. It was a large size for one person. I liked that they give it to you on a go box but you can sit in restaurant and eat it. I ate a little less than a half, it was a lot. They have a large indoor booth seating. The service was great, she was super friendly came over to talk to me for a few minutes and was attentive. The noodles were a little bit salty for me but I like less salty for me. Always review your itemized receipt immediately after ordering! My total felt wrong, but I didn't fully realize the error until after she demanded her tip while I was still standing there confused by the pricing. When I asked for a breakdown, I found she had overcharged me by $9. When I pointed out the math, she rudely cut me off and just said "no." She clearly added a hidden $9 fee on top of pushing for a tip at checkout. If I had known I was already secretly charged that extra $9, I never would have tipped at the end! Wish I took the time to read previous reviews this looks to be a common issue. read more

Buyer beware this location will add additionally fees to your meal. The food is basic nothing to get excited for the wontons are not even wontons just wonton chips if your expecting wontons with filling this is not the spot for 7 dollars you will get a tray of wonton chips. read more

I just love that when I come in and place an order, it's cooked fresh and served hot. Excellent selection of some really good Chinese food. Their afternoon buffet is just that, a buffet but if you want fresh cooked, order at the counter. Their new location is very clean and a chill atmosphere. Pretty decent all around American Chinese restaurant where the sit down dining is limited due to the owners preference stemming from the Covid lockdown, has one of the most reasonable prices for the buck. With the recent trend of hyperinflation and additional 22% tip culture that is blowing through the California like the wildfires in August, majority of the restaurants are suffering from lack of customers. Therefore, the servers are leaving the restaurant industry and many places had shuttered for good. Not this one. The dinner size food averages only $14-16 with generous steamed rice for free. The ingredients are healthy and lots of protein and shrimps. I liked the big tough and chewy Mongolian Beef and crispy Kung Pao Pork and salty Salt and Pepper chicken. There's not too many food options in Crescent City..seems like. The Thai spot down the block didnt pick up their phone. Far East was quick to pick up. I ordered the chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein and their kung pao chicken. I think their customer service is great. There are tons of cars parked outside waiting for their "to go" orders. Several ladies come out constantly to check you in, get your payment and bring your order to you. They are quick and friendly! The food - Can I make a suggestion to give a little less food?! TOO MUCH food. Great for families. Not so much for individuals or couples. Or they could have family style portions and smaller "lunch" portions all day. That prevents food waste and they could charge less for the smaller portions too. Food was not bad- very basic chinese food. The fried rice was the saddest I have seen fried rice in a long time. Just rice and chicken. NO little peas, carrots, eggs. Fried rice always has some sort of veggies even if it's the cheap little veggie mix. Chow mein was not bad. Kung Pao was the winner- flavorful, a little kick of spice. Just food overload. Not bad if you're craving chinese food. read more

Went to the new sit down place. They pointed to the take out menu. We asked if we could sit they said ok and showed us the eat in menu, reluctantly. Asked about the Horrible squealing noise they said "wind". Reshut door and fixed it. After we sat, my daughter went up to ask for glasses of water. They said they don't serve water, we had to buy bottled water from the refrigerator. Seriously????? Is that even legal? We walked out. Not going back. Tried Far East for the first time and it did not disappoint! It was delicious! We ordered the Kung Pao Beef, Sweet and Spicy Garlic Chicken (AMAZING!), Won Ton Soup and the sautéed Mixed vegetables. Everything was great! They were busy with take out orders but they let me know it would be a 30-35 min wait and that was exactly what it was. I will definitely come back here! We love this place! Chinese food is our favorite, and this is, by far, our favorite Chinese food. We have been calling here for our orders for years. My husband calls, and the owner has it ready as soon as 20-30 minutes. They know him by his voice, and know our order. He goes down to pick it up, and it smells delicious. It always is. We are never disappointed. We order a lot of food, and eat it over two days. My favorite dish is the egg foo young, My husband's is the sweet and sour prawns. We both eat house chow mien and fried rice. We always eat at home, so not sure if the restaurant is disabled friendly or if there is even indoor eating anymore there. The people who own and run the the restaurant are wonderful. They want the customers to enjoy their meals, that's for sure. If you love Chinese food and haven't tried Far East, it might be time, to call and place your order soon. read more

Too much onion, greasy and not the authentic Chinese food the owner raved about. Egg foo yung was very undercooked. Sauce for Katsu was too watery. Owner asked me to give him a call and let him know how the food was but I decided not too unless I was going to get some big change refunded. It's disgusting! 21 dollars a plate! Tiny pieces of chicken covered in thick overcooked batter fried in dirty oil! Thick Ramen noodles also covered in dirty grease. It left a layer of grease on my lounge. I wouldn't have been back because the buffet used to make me sick. My daughter said they had new owners so I thought I'd give it a try. This was once one of the best places to have Chinese food. The food was always prepared with fresh ingredients and very tasty. I wish I could say that now, but the quality has deteriorated to the extent of being non consumable. Not sure if ownership has changed hands, but I can definitely say the food we ordered was old and stale. It didn't even smell like Chinese food. They used to have dine in, and now you can only call in and pick up, but that is not why the poor review. read more

Very good! Generous servings and always hot and fresh. Have got this for my family everytime we visit cresent city and it never disappoints! We get stuffed and still have leftovers. We like to have a lemon on hand if we order the lemon chicken just to give it a little zing because it is on the sweet side. read more

I LOVE Chinese food but this was the worst food I have ever tried. The chow mien actually smelled so bad I threw it out. The sweet and sour pork was small clumps of pork with very little sauce and no pineapple, onions or peppers. The egg roll was so greasy my wife could hardly stand it and threw it out as well. On top of that we picked up a "current" menu at their door before ordering and they charged over $5 more than it should of been. $36 for two and we threw most of it away.
