Probably the best Thai spot in town, maybe the only one. They've got good spice and authentic Thai favor. We enjoyed our food so much that we ordered extra for late night. It was Good Friday so we could only eat seafood and tofu. Even so, the seafood combo stir fry was very good. The clams tasted fresh and both our tofu friend rice and tofu pad kee Mao were good. We didn't get much service, it's a quick service style you order from the kiosk up front. The staff is friendly however. The restaurant does have good seating room. Overall 5/5 We enjoyed our food even though we had restrictions. I'm glad they had a lot of options to fit our needs. read more

My girlfriend had told me of this really good Thai restaurant she'd been to with her family on her visit to Crescent City. So for our last night in town, the 7 of us went here for our last dinner together before heading home. We arrived around 7 to some patrons waiting in line that lead out the door. Hoping it wasn't a long wait we stood in line which actually moved really fast and were seated in the back in less than 10 minutes after arriving. After being seated we received the menus and looked everything over, and eventually ordered the following: DRINKS: Thai Tea (x4) APPETIZERS: Chicken Satay Fried Calamari Crab Puffs MAIN COURSES: Pad Thai w/Prawns Beef Pad See Ew Surf & Turf Curry Fried Rice Holy Basil w/Chicken & Cashews (level 3 hot) The wait for all of our ready to arrive wasn't fairly short, but we started with Thai Teas and water. Then the appetizers arrived shortly arrived and the main dishes started following shortly after that. The Calamari wasn't bad, but was hoping it would be better...it was ok in my opinion. All of the other dishes were really though, and I was pleasantly surprised. And I'd have to say my favorite dishes personally were the Pad Thai w/Prawns and the Surf & Turf Curry Fried Rice. I'm not a big fan of Pad See Ew because of the type of noodles, but I did try it amd it was really flavorful. The Pad See Ew however, was my girlfriends favorite dish there. And was once of the dishes that made her want to come back again. The only other bummer was that the large dishes didn't come with large serving utensils, to help with plating food. So we had to use our forks, which then became the serving utensils. Which required us to have to ask for more, to have a personal one for eating. A little oversight maybe, but serving spoons and or folks I'd have assumed would be standard with those large dishes. Overall: Good service and good food. Great spot for a nice small city like Crescent City. The little things noted are the only reason I didn't give a 5-star, BUT the food was delicious. And we enjoyed our time at Kin Khao. read more

We got the yellow curry and holy basil both with chicken ! Would recommend both. Also got potstickers and two ciders. Service was prompt and Maria was very helpful even when they were closing within the hour. The ambience is also nice, utensils, etc are self service and spices etc are available at your leisure. We want to come back to try their pumpkin and salmon but they were out because we came close to closing for lunch. read more

In Crescent City on vacation and decided to try this spot on our first night. Coming from the bay area, I was worried we wouldn't enjoy Thai as much. However, Kin Khao proved me wrong! The food was delicious. We ordered takeout at the restaurant and got drunken noodles, basil fried rice and spicy garlic chicken. All of these were at a spice level 3 thinking it'd be medium but it was mild and we def could have gotten spice level 5. For the food itself: drunken noodles were yummy, had a lot of chicken but it was slightly sweet. Basil fried rice had a lot of flavor, was a good portion size and I did prefer it to the noodles. The garlic chicken came with rice and was also very flavorful and crispy. Since we ordered takeout, they were kind enough to give us utensils and disposable bowls. Don't recommend potstickers or summer rolls. Food is not authentic, potstickers seem to look like they came from a frozen packet and they charged $8+tax. For that amount it should be fresh made or price should not be that much for frozen. Peanut sauce was one of the worst I have tasted. read more

I think if you run a Thai Fusion place in Crescent City, you get an extra star. This is the case here. This is a pretty good Thai place in a town which is a bit of a food desert. Kudos for that. The menus a little large with Thai, Japanese and Chinese but it all was from serviceable to good. Service was standard for a thai lunch place, fast, not a lot of pleasantries, but pleasant. Each piece was shaped the same with soggy batter that doesn't get crispy. We heard from friends that kin Khao had reopened. So I called and found out they are open 11:30am till 7:00 pm daily. And you order at the counter and it's take out only, but you can eat the take out at a table. They are serving most of their standard fair. We had coconut prawns, tom ka yum soup and spices salmon with green beans everything was excellent. The food came out quickly and I let the staff know I was excited they were open and tipped them well. The restaurant is still a cute warm comfortable seating place to be. Go check 'em out. Always fabulous tasting, immediately cooked and served, very delicious Thai dishes with slightly different flavors and textures than traditional Thai dishes are so readily available in this truly magnificent restaurant that I have to give Five Michelin Worthy Stars. We had eggplant tofu stir fry and calamari dish! We had never had either in the past. The amount of foods and flavors were outstanding. We took both of them leftovers home for future dinner and also had a wonderful sweet Sake. I'm sure that you will find this restaurant to be different from any other restaurant in this city. Stopped through here on our trip through the Oregon Coast. Service was prompt and attentive up until their lunch closing time. At 3pm most of the staff had left, though they made sure to have us check out before then and assured us we could take our time to eat. They pointed to where we could get to go containers for any leftovers as it would be self serve. We did awkwardly have to find someone though because we didn't know where the to-go cups were for our Thai tea. Beef salad - Bright colors and the beef was tender. Tom Kha - Tasted average but there was way more protein than soup. Felt like there could have been more balance. Tom Yum Noodles - Very delicious as flavorful. I wouldn't say that there are a whole lot of great places to eat in the area but this place has been the best I have eaten at thus far. Ate here for the first time today. Loved the spring roll and warm peanut dipping sauce. Was not a huge fan of the pad Thai, a bit oily and less flavorful than other places I have been to down in the bay area. Would have loved to have gone here a few years ago when they were serving up sushi. I will be back. The salmon is farm raised fyi. Staff were really friendly. Yesterday we chose to visit this restaurant to try out their highly recommended food. We ordered the 4 star chicken pad Thai, and 4 star Pas Ke Mao. The flavor is easy 4/5, with spice better rated at 3 spice than a 4 spice level. Ambiance matched the local vibes, and was clean throughout the restaurant. Service however was hard to find, we waited 20 minutes for the check (after asking and waiting for refills that never came). We watched everyone else get their checks, served food, and offered refills though! Summary; The food is flavorful (though not as spicy as noted on menus), and the poor service is why two stars were removed. read more

the food here has always been great. The limited parking can be a problem, it has caused me to go else where a couple time.

The only thing to complain about is that the portions are too big (we were traveling). But, we figured out how to pack the leftovers in our small cooler and had a delicious dinner the next night, too. They offer craft beer on draft and a nonalcoholic option as well (thank you). My hubby ordered spice level 4 and I ordered a 3 and they were both delicious and a perfect spice for each of us. The chicken was tender and juicy. The service was quick and responsive. For those traveling without the ability to save leftovers, the customer should be advised that portions are very large (the pic doesn't really show how large the plates are) so they can perhaps share to avoid food waste. read more

This modern restaurant offers traditional Thai food with a flair. They use non-traditional veggies such as carrots although, this did not change my perspective of the dish in fact, not only did it look nicely decorated and colorful but it brought a hint of sweetness. I appreciated the amount of tofu in my curry, most places tend to be a bit chintzy with it. The wok hay was done well with the Pad See Eew overall, I enjoyed the meal here and would come back. OmG! I saw this l place out corner of my eye as I drove by! The name caught my attention, literally means "eat rice" but generally a meal. Almost home in the way it even has a bar!!! Excellent Thai food, go-to in Crescent City! I almost never like fried rice, but every grain of Basil Fried Rice was delicious (level 3 out of 5 spicy). Usually fried rice is 80% rice, but this was generous with 60% tofu, veggies, and basil. Cold, bright Papaya Salad balanced the spicy fried rice perfectly. Nice ambience and service. We got the chicken pad Thai, crispy basil duck, and red curry with chicken. We got level 4 spicy for the duck and 3 for the other two. Level 3 is the right amount of spicy to make the food delicious! My bf and I spent the afternoon at Redwood National Park and went here for dinner as a backup since our first choice was closed. We were both glad that our schedule ran longer because we would have never gotten the chance to try this wonderful restaurant. The place was popping when we went in, but luckily we were able to get a table. Both my bf and I were hesitant about eating here since we are usually disappointed with Asian cuisine outside of populated communities like the Bay Area. Boy were we wrong. This place was soooo good! We ordered tom yum noodles and pad see eew. I'm usually not the biggest fan of ordering tom yum noodles, but this was just fantastic. It wasn't too salty nor too lemony. It was creamy and had a lot of bean sprouts which I liked for that lighter and refreshing touch. The pad see eew was also flavorful and had that char which is what I think is one of the signs of good pad see eew. They also used Chinese broccoli (another good sign pointed out by my bf) which gave it a nice fresh, mustardy balance. It's just one of the best pad see eew dishes I've ever had. This restaurant really surprised me. If I ever get the chance to come back to Crescent City, I'm definitely coming back here. read more

Absolutely delicious Thai cuisine in a sleepy coastal town. We arrived about 6:15pm on a Saturday and it was busy but not packed. Friendly staff, nice ambience in the dining area. The waitstaff recommended crispy rolls for our appetizer, and we chose Tom Kha and Pad Thai chicken for our entrees. Oddly, the rolls were the least impressive of our three dishes, but tasty enough to enjoy. The soup was seasoned perfectly with a hearty abundance of mushrooms, onions and cilantro. The noodles were SO SO SO good, and plated with more chicken than two people need (but we finished every bite!). We're not in this area often, but when we do come back this way in the future, Kin Khao will be our chosen stop for a meal. read more

Stopped at this place for an early dinner on our way to Klamath. I dunno maybe I am being too harsh and picky but when I see the words "Jumbo Prawns" I expect actual Jumbo Prawns. I ordered their Crescent Prawns which states it comes with "Jumbo Prawns" but what I got were regular sized shrimp which were no bigger than the shrimp you would get as the pre-appetizer at any Japanese Hibachi Steak House you go to. You know the ones that they saute first and then cut up into little pieces then throw at you to try to catch in your mouth. Yeah those were their "Jumbo Prawns." On top of that there were very few shrimp which they tried to conceal by throwing so many veggies in with it. And as far as the taste that was the only saving grace as it actually did taste decent. Pad Thai was decent but my wife's sweet and sour chicken had zero flavor. The spring rolls and peanut sauce were fantastic & fresh, and the sticky mango rice was incredible! The reason for the 3 star rating is because the chicken that came in the curry was inedible. Both of us in our party got different curries with chicken as the protein & it was pretty terrible. It was hard & almost flavorless, like synthetic chicken. It was for sure real chicken but something was very off. We just ate everything but the chicken in our curry dishes. Maybe get something other than chicken here. read more
