I didn't have anything to eat here because nothing on their menu was vegetarian or vegan , just had a cocktail. But my husband got two appetizers and he loved them. He got the oyster Rockefeller and crab cakes , and both were very yummy according to him. Service was quick and courteous. We came here on a Saturday around 12:45pm and we were seated quickly. When we came in there was a few tables empty. We took the patio seat and it had a lovely view of the ocean. Definitely try to sit on the patio . My wife and I had a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon. Began with some tasty clam chowder and three fresh oysters each! The oysters were fresh and as my wife said " you can almost taste the ocean". She had fish n chips, I had prawns. The fish was really good, crisp outer with a firm juicy piece of cod, three pieces. The prawns were excellent, and big (just shy of three bites) too. The order came with five. Our server was Eve. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and attentive, without being overly so. Happy lady with a bright smile! Fish Hopper has my vote! Before I start, you must know I've been coming to this restaurant my entire life. My favorite restaurant to come to every time I come to Monterey. The hostess was friendly. The Bussers were friendly as well. Everyone greets you. I think the manager was waking around checking in with each table and ensuring that everything was fine. The table cleanliness was excellent. The appetizer was the whole fire roasted artichoke--it's my favorite appetizer For entree--we shared baby back ribs (no picture) it was so good we forgot to take a picture Drinks: strawberry lemonade (virgin), piña colada (virgin) --very yummy Quality--excellent It came out nice and hot You can tell it was just cooked and prepared The presentation was like the display My server was Dionicia-- so sweet we were celebrating my mother in laws birthday and I let her know--and she made sure to come at the end and surprise her and even sang -- it was great She was busy but she would check in and ensure that everything was good The accuracy of the orders perfect She was prompt The view you get is awesome nothing but ocean. I have been to fish Hopper 3 times, each time I've ordered something different, and each time the food and service were beyond fantastic the drinks, the appetizers, the entree, and the desserts all excellent. The ambience is as fresh and pleasant as the food here. The people here make the ambience even better by their professionalism, friendliness, and by their cheary demeanors. I'd especially like to mention Hugo, Rigo, Emily, and Juan. All of this makes the 4 hour drive more than worth it. read more

Writing this review as I'm sitting in the restaurant finishing my meal. I can't remember the last time I dined somewhere and genuinely enjoyed every single thing I ordered. The espresso martini was divine. We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms, & the clam chowder bowl & they were both so good my boyfriend and I basically inhaled them. Our entree came out right as we were finishing the appetizers, thankfully the service was pretty quick all night considering how busy the night seemed, & the staff was friendly too. We ordered the grilled parmesan sea bass to share between the two of us & it was the perfect size serving for us to get full. We were lucky enough to be sat by a window further out in the water & enjoyed the sunset as we ate. Overall this place was incredible and we can't wait to come back! Customer service was the worst. I came here with my family and my son is 10 months old. So I decided to do the take out and eat outside due to family life and it being later in the day. I ordered our food and waited. I was never called on and just stayed to the side. After waiting almost double of what they said the wait would be, my wife went up to the register to ask. They handed her a bag that another couple had just returned because they got the wrong food. They handed us food that was already handed out and we had no idea how long. It was still short a bread bowl. They made us wait an additional 10 minutes to make the bread bowl and helped multiple families out during this time. I had to go back up to the register again and ask about the claim chowder. They were extremely angry but made us our claim chowder. After they argued about giving us more plastic forks and spoons due to the couple they gave our food to only had two people. This was one of the worst and craziest customer service experiences I have ever experienced. read more

Drove to Monterey to celebrate my birthday and hubby took me to this restaurant for lunch. The resto is like any other resto I've been to that is close to the ocean. Price point is about the same. Views are the same. Service is great and food is where they differ. I ordered the salmon and shrimp Monterey and the sauce was good. It is something I haven't tasted before. After a day at the aquarium, we ran, under the rain, looking for a place to eat. As soon as we approached the restaurant, we were greeted with smiles and hellos. The host told us that strollers were not allowed inside, so we left our Doona Trike in the hallway. They currently have a Christmas tree and poinsettias all over the restaurant, which is a total vibe during this time :) We were seated in the back of the restaurant with a view of the ocean. Regardless of where you are seated, you will have a beautiful view of the ocean :) and this is a win. We ate and they were always so gracious & kind towards our 1 year old. The clam chowder tasted so good- it must be award winning! Lol My partner ordered a cup of clam chowder to start off with and he said it was filling. I just had to try the fish & chips because that's a must when you're in Monterey. I have to say we had bought a "snack" at the aquarium and the prices were the same as Fish Hopper, so it's pretty standard for Monterey.
