    Sampler platter

Ordered the sampler platter and I was blown away by how much food I got. Super fresh fish. Quality was top notch. Customer service was amazing too. This is a gem. I will definitely come back.

Bag-O-Fish has five pieces for $5. So good!!!

The bag-o-fish for only $5 is unbelievably good. No WONDER this place has such good ratings! A tiny little fish shop with great service, great food, great outdoor seating. Will be back!!!

Looking forward to Fish Monger fish & chips. Stopped by today 9/2/25 Fish Monger is closed permanently building is for sale. Bummer.

I have been wanting to try Fishmongers in Hammond OR for a long time, based on all the good things I had heard. I finally made it in one cold, rainy PNW day...and they weren't packed, like all the other times I had driven by and opted not to wait. This little joint did NOT disappoint!! I chose their sampler which included a piece of all the fish they offer. Tuna, salmon, cod, rockfish, fries and some slaw. Truly the BEST fried fish in the area! Numero Uno!! The batter is crispy and light. So crunchy, and not dripping in grease! I think the cod and rockfish were my favorites, but the tuna was also good. I'm not a fan of fried salmon, but that's my tastebuds. That had nothing to do with the quality of the fish or cook. I just like my salmon grilled or baked. (My husband liked it.)The fries were also fried to perfection. If I had a complaint it would be the food isn't seasoned much. But, I kind of like that cause it allows the customer to salt it as liberally or minimally as they want. A good thing for those watching their sodium. Just make sure to ask for a salt packet if you like salt. The slaw is a savory, vinegary kind, not the sweet stuff you get at KFC. On top of the delicious fish, the fellows cooking are truly sweethearts. Very nice, and informative when this nosy customer was asking questions about their establishment. It was a slow day so they had time to engage in a nice conversation. The portion of food was perfect for a big appetite, too. I wanted to eat it all, but honestly could not....which made my husband happy when I surprised him with the equivalent of 2.5 pieces of fried fish and fries when I got home. (I tied all the fish and left portions for the spouse! lol!) It reheated well in the air fryer and he now wants to try this place the next time we're in the area together. There is outdoor seating. Nothing fancy. Some picnic tables under an awning. It was too cold and wet for me to take advantage of the area, so I consumed the goods in my car. Do not overlook this little gem of a dive. Truly. Sounds like fun and tasty so we left early on Saturday morning. We splashed in and played for a few hours. After getting out of the water we walked to the food cart restaurant on the bank of Nehalem river. When we walked up there was a sign "Waiting Time One Hour". Ok! It's a three day warm winter weekend so many people headed to the coast. We ordered beer and chatted away the time. This is a good food cart, outside seating on the river on the sunny day. The cart is associated.with the roadside store in the downtown. The back of the store has a covered deck with tables in case it rains. Prices are high, for three piece halibut with a dab of coleslaw and overcook cold french fries was $32. My friend had the three-piece cod for $26ish. My friend really wanted to try this place and she enjoyed the cod. I, on the other hand, have had better with Moore sloth and fries at other places on the coast., But you're here, right. You're on a mini vacation, just enjoy the warm winter day and nice food.

Downstairs is an open kitchen with a few tables in the front room. I do think that if they didnt have a big communal table, they could rearrange the tables to get a few more for extra service. Upstairs is a bar and a few more tables. They also sell some nice restaurant branded merchandise. There is a chalkboard menu on the wall with daily specials and market prices. I ordered the Salad with Dungeness Crab. I loved the freshness and all the combined flavors. My husband had the fresh fish tacos and they were very fresh and full of fresh cooked fish. The clam chowder was a little weak in flavor and lacking clams so I would probably skip it next time. The fish and chips is their signature dish and everyone was ordering it. This place is definitely a dining gem!

Service: waitress may be a little overloaded so, she was quite slow to show up after we were seated. She took the order with warmth and enthusiasm. She did not return to check if we needed anything after the food was served. There was an older gentleman (may be the owner) who showed us to our seats and was particularly concerned about our experience at the store. It was a nice touch. Ambiance: nice soft lighting, noise level was moderate. I consider this place good enough to eat my meal comfortably and able to enjoy the foods without too much noise.

The only negative experience was with the guy seating us upstairs, he definitely had a bit of an attitude. We ordered a 16" half Almighty and half Margherita pizza along with a Caesar salad. The pizza was really good overall, although they definitely could've put more cheese on the Margherita side because it felt a little skimpy. Still very tasty though. The Caesar salad unfortunately tasted really old, but our server was fantastic, apologized immediately, and removed it from the bill without issue. Great customer service honestly made a big difference. Overall, I'd definitely come back!
