Since it's Seattle, you can find more than a few items that feature BigFoot on them. I went twice: once for a 1-hour short course in keeping my current bike in tune after I had gone ahead and had it tuned up at Mend. Cory was really respectful of my beginner-level status while being careful never to assume ignorance. Really detailed instructions about where to grip the bike and parts while doing various tasks helped me be successful right away. Being a teacher myself, I recognize what a natural Cory is -- how he truly sees his students and uses his carefully crafted curriculum to help them stay motivated and succeed. The second time I visited, I brought a kid's bike that needed a bit of work and adjustment, and we spent 45 minutes that were part teaching and part him just making sure everything was adjusted, lubed, and trued. This was fantastic because I got the bike fixed up faster than I would have done dropping it off somewhere, AND I learned the skills to keep it that way. The kind of education Cory is doing is so important to helping people create smoother, more enjoyable biking experiences for themselves. I learned how to tell if my bike needed attention or not, how to take care of basic issues on my own, and how to know if I was in over my head. I have an Indie XL which is not an electric bike. I simply added an electric front wheel that i can immediately swap out for the regular wheel but he refused to work on it despite me saying that. Irritated that I made this appointment and went down there only to be turned away without any discussion.
