Found this on Yelp and decided to give it a shot! So happy we did! Follow the directions online and just get buzzed into the gated parking. Their patio area is beautiful. Plenty of flowers as well as umbrellas for shade. I wasn't super hungry so I just got the shishito Brussel appetizer and my hubby got the chicken sandwich. Both were great. You have to order at the bar and then they bring you the food or drinks. We had to get up couple times to order drinks that way weird with waitstaff bringing you the food already. We had their house made drink it was like a spicy margarita can't remember the name it was good my wife had a couple of those. I had the flat tire white Bavarian style beer. It's a good beer tastes like hefeweizen but without the really bitter aftertaste. Anyway it was just an interesting flavor profile and I am going on about it. My wife's steak sandwich came out overcooked well done and she asked for medium. They cooked my burger which I asked for well and it was solid well plus LoL. My son Had the chicken tenders because they said they didn't get their wing shipment in which is what he really wanted. They were pretty dried up and something like you would get at a gas station. The French fries were the highlight they were some of the best we have had anywhere. The vegetarian had grilled Asian Vegetables with udon noodles. Very filling and the mushrooms were cooked perfectly. The Artichoke Fondue was delicious- more like an artichoke dip but very tasty. This is definitely a hidden gem a little outside the torn center in Vail, but the food is amazing! I had the sea bass with quinoa, asparagus, tomatoes, and avocado - would never think to have avocado with fish but it was great! My dining companion had the Flat Iron steak with carrots and fingerling potatoes and was equally pleased with her choice! We sat outside and the atmosphere was quite nice - service was top notch! This was a disappointing experience for us -- we went to the restaurant based on reading quite a few excellent reviews, but admittedly, they were a few years old. Apparently (our waitress told us this), there is new management as of a year or two ago and the menu is very different, so several of the items that were recommended as being excellent are no longer even on the menu. This elevated bar and bites boats a unique menu with choices for all different diet restrictions and styles. We got the honey siracha wings, truffle tots, roast chicken, and veggie ragú. Everything was delightful BUT the polenta cake served wit's the ragú was own of the best things I've ever tried. The Fitz is the best hidden gem in Vail! We normally eat at one of the "regular spots" in the village, but on a local's recommendation we decided to give The Fitz a try. I can confidently say we have a new favorite restaurant in the high country! It's right at the base of the Gold Peak lift, has floor to ceiling vaulted windows with an incredible view, and the food, service, and atmosphere are out of this world. The Food = True Culinary Experience! The Watermelon Salad with goat cheese and jalapeños is HIGHLY recommended and was one of the most unique appetizers I've ever experienced. It was cool, smooth, sweet and spicy. Trust me, you have to try it! Our steak was perfectly prepared, and the salad was incredible. (I normally wouldn't review a salad, but it was definitely a noteworthy salad that apparently had much of the ingredients sourced from their personal garden.) Our server, Liz was incredibly friendly and attentive to our needs. 5 Stars all around! We will be back soon, and can't wait for some apres drinks this winter. read more
