I've been here twice now, and both times I ended up ordering the same thing- the sun-dried tomato and basil flatbread, and the Lamps No. 5, which is a gorgeous mixed drink with vodka, watermelon, and simple syrup, garnished with a watermelon slice. The flatbread is crispy and is full of delicious flavor in every bite, which is honestly why I wanted to get it again. I also ended up ordering the potato wedges, which were perfectly seasoned, crisp on the outside, and soft and fluffy on the inside. We went today and arrived around 11:50am. We wanted to sit outside, and luckily there were lots of available seats. Since we were a party of 5, we were able to pull two tables together easily, and we were brought water soon after. The waitstaff are all very sweet and attentive. It does have times when it gets crowded, which is something to look out for. They have a somewhat limited menu, with only a few vegetarian options I can eat. I'm just happy there's something as delicious as the flatbread that I know can be my go-to! Next time I come, I'd love to try another one of their mixed drinks, because they do that really well. Would definitely recommend! read more

The Five Lamps feels like the kind of neighborhood pub every city wishes it had. One of the things that makes it special is how authentically Irish it is. Almost all of the staff are Irish, which gives the place a genuine pub atmosphere that is hard to find. Despite being known as a bar, the food is surprisingly good for such a small kitchen. Our favorites are the tacos, sliders, and the giant soft pretzel--perfect pub food done right. Dogs are welcome in the large outdoor seating area, but on a recent visit we learned that they do not allow l strollers while dining outside. Dogs need to be on the ground or in a carrier bag. There isn't a dog menu, but pups are otherwise welcome on the patio. They do offer water bowls. The pub also hosts fun trivia nights, and when there's a major sporting event, they'll sometimes set up a large TV outside so everyone can watch together. Inside, there's even a dedicated darts area--a point of pride thanks to one of the managers who is a big darts fan. Just be prepared: this place is popular. It can get quite busy, especially on game days and event nights. Dogba's verdict: Great food, authentic Irish pub vibes, outdoor seating for pups, and plenty of football, trivia, and darts. The five lamps is a local Irish pub in the upper east side. You will find this place packed on the weekends with pretty limited seating. But they have an outdoor patio area with a tv. A great pub to watch a game. I found their drinks to be a little pricey compared to other pubs in the neighborhood. They do have a kitchen but it does close down at 10p. Also the service was pretty slow. We ordered two drinks and had to wait over 10 minutes. I know it was the weekend but it seemed like they had forgotten about us. Wandered in here on a little evening walk and was immediately greeted by Savannah at the bar & Katie who was working the floor! Busy but was able to snag a seat and SO happy I did. Savannah asked me if I liked Espresso Martinis - turns out this Irish-American kitchen & bar makes them a ton of different ways, and despite their ability to do it all, not ONE was compromised on quantity. My favorite was the white chocolate espresso martini - they literally garnish it with grated White Chocolate and it made for a perfect pick me up + kind of snack ;) I have it on good authority from my Irish pals that they have a great pint of Guinness as well. Between the service and the vibes I am looking forward to coming back! The bartender Savannah also let me know that they're able to host semi-private events. I always see a lot of people eating at the five lamps whenever I pass by and I finally got a chance to go there for their taco Tuesday! They probably have the best deal for taco Tuesday in UES and tacos are $2 each and their margarita is $6. They only have three options for their tacos: pork, chicken, and veggies and I tried both the pork and chicken. Other than tacos, my boyfriend and I also got their chips and guac. Chicken taco: 5/5 They were good especially with the price! Tortilla was soft, and the fillings were flavorful. Pork taco: 3/5 The pork was very dry, almost like pork floss. Do not recommend at all. Original drink that was mentioned I believe they ran out of certain ingredients but the cocktail that was provided was amazing. This is a cool spot. My wife stopped in for a Taco Tuesday. $2 tacos?! In this, the year of our Lord 2023? On the UES? You don't need to tell me twice. There were also great drink deals. Beer for $4, margs for for $6. But obviously, you can read all that off the A-frame. This is Yelp. You're here for opinions, not facts--kind of like watching Fox News (though hopefully with much better opinions). My opinion: the Mexican food is better than you might expect from an Irish pub. Most of the beer selection is bottled, however, and I would hope for more options on tap. Also, to quote an old song, this place goes up on a Tuesday. It was packed. We arrived at 8:30 PM and had to wait until two seats opened up. The crowd is young, trending early to mid-20s (though July is peak intern season in the city). Our servers definitely got their steps in flitting between outdoor picnic tables. As a result, the service is not the fastest, but (a) this place is buzzing and (b) you are probably here to hang out and enjoy summer in New York. As you should. read more

I came here for Taco Tuesday. Their tacos are $2, and the margaritas are $6. The tacos were just okay, but for $2/each you can't really complain. I had 2 chicken ones, and I think the other was pork. The veggie taco at $2 was packed with black beans and grilled corn. There was a nice slaw on top. The chicken taco actually had some spice and flavor: These are not the best tacos around and are served in a non grilled flour shell. So if flour tortillas are not your thing, just go for the drinks. Great local bar. Absolutely LOVE it. I do need to say (without deducting stars) one of the servers on trivia night was very aggressive and almost threatening. He was a little scary; he kept badgering us. We understand you need to do your job and inform us of the rules, which we agreed to (although I did not hear them spoken or written anywhere, although I admit I was quite tipsy), but be professional. My husband and I come on occasion, spend good money, tip well, and just want to have a good time. The world is crazy right now and we have a lot of personal stuff going on. Came here for their Tuesday taco Tuesday Happy hour. It's definitely super worth it since their drinks and their tacos are really cheap. I'm a little bit particular about their tacos though since I believe they can do so much better. The meats were a little bit dry and I wish they use corn tortillas or maybe just charge the tortillas a little bit to elevate it. Biting into the taco felt artificially smooth because of the tortilla and also a little bit dry - but it's a two dollar taco so you're definitely getting what you pay for. What one would hope to be a great neighborhood spot, Five Lamps is far from. They are rude and hostile to families with kids and take up the entire sidewalk area. They refused to seat our friends with a child. I would absolutely never give this place my business and hope to see better treatment of neighbors by these local establishments. We had mozzarella sticks and the sauce was ice cold and the sticks were Luke warm. then the flatbread came out and it was awful. we got the sun-dried tomato. It was so so salty we couldn't eat it. Who doesn't love a good Taco Tuesday?! Thanks to the Autumn Tippler I was able to come across this place and discover a great bar with great deals. When I arrived, I was surprised to see this place so lively despite the horrible weather. Still I was able to secure a seat at the bar. Service was a little slow at first; however, once I placed my order the food and drinks came out rather quick. I was able to redeem my tippler drink, the Bramble. I'd have to say that was the best bramble I have ever tasted. It was not overwhelmingly bitter like the ones I've had in the past. Aside from great drinks, this bar has a great Taco Tuesday deal. $2 tacos I mean wow. You have the option of choosing between pulled pork, chipotle chicken, and veggie. I was a little skeptical at first so I only ended up buying two chipotle chicken. I mean how could $2 tacos taste good right, there has to be a catch. WRONG! For $2 they were great! I had to stop myself from ordering more as this was the first stop on my list and needed to save some space. Went here for the fantastic Tuesday taco deal during happy hour. Pretty solid tacos for $2 each! Really liked the chicken taco. Found that 3 tacos were the perfect amount for dinner to feel full but not overly stuffed. Love when I can get dinner & a drink in Manhattan for under $20, including tax/tip. What a deal! Love the Thursday night trivia - it's always so fun! Great cocktails and many can be made into mocktails. The inside has a nice woodsy Irish pub vibe.
