The Flip House in Lago Vista is a welcome addition to our town. It is a former food truck turned brick and mortar restaurant. The menu is not extensive, mainly appetizers, burgers and sandwiches, salads, and breakfast served all day. I'm usually suspicious of huge menus so this one is just right. It didn't take long to get seated or to order, but there was about a 30 minute wait to receive my order. This place has only been open a week so that's just one of those little kinks I'm sure they'll work out. I had chicken strips off the appetizer menu, mashed potatoes as a side and a margarita. The chicken strips were truly excellent. They weren't heavily breaded and were hot and fresh. The potatoes were also tasty - more like mashed baked potatoes than boiled. The margarita was, frankly, terrible. However, my server was determined to get it right and ended up making a good margarita and also comped it. That was really above and beyond and I appreciated it. I'm giving The Flip House 5 stars for delish fried chicken tenders and for a server who just refused to give up until everything was just right. She had a bunch of tables and never forgot a thing I asked for. The only wrinkle is a small parking lot. I didn't take the time to investigate other parking, but I will. I'm going back tomorrow! Update - I did go back with my grandson. I had the (yummy) chicken strips with fries and he had a cheeseburger. It was all very good. I don't usually eat a bunch of fries, but I did this time. Here with my husband on a Monday morning. Nice and clean inside. The server was very nice and appropriately attentive. I ordered the French toast with ham. An appropriate amount of food for the price and tasted good. They were out of the cinnamon cream syrup that was to come out with the French toast. Oh well. Husband ordered the Denver omelette. It had lots of red peppers and onion which we liked. It was very tasty. I think I would order that next time for breakfast. I was happy to see other meals that appealed to me for lunch and dinner. Makes me want to come back to try them. We will come back for sure to try out the chicken fried steak. Overall was a good first impression and really hope that continues because it is nice having different good dining options in Lago Vista. From the "You can't make this stuff up" files. We had dinner there a few weeks ago. My wife had the chicken fried steak. It was very good, the gravy was more of a cream sauce, but not bad. Small portion of undercooked crinkle fries. I ate some of her CFS since my food was a bust. It was way above average. CFS is a challenge to master. My wife prepares it frequently. I ordered salmon with asparagus and Brussels sprouts. The salmon was perfectly cooked and delicious, but the portion size was very small, more like an appetizer. The Brussels sprouts were undercooked, bland and bitter. I took one bite and pushed them away. (I make a delicious Brussels sprout stir fry, so I know how good they can be.) They forgot the asparagus, and it arrived after I finished the salmon. Four stalks. Four stalks. I mentioned all this to our server but no one offered to get me something to eat. I left hungry. I sent the restaurant a note explaining all this after receiving my online receipt. No response. We decided to give breakfast a shot since it was our anniversary. We both ordered the two egg breakfast with bacon and crispy hash browns. We order them crispy wherever we go. My wife requested a light to medium cook on her scrambled eggs and the server acknowledged. She doesn't like overcooked scrambled eggs. The coffee they serve is weak and has no flavor. I always bring a backup cup of high quality coffee to restaurants I've never been to before (but I always order and pay for a cup of their coffee), so I did have something to drink. It took at least 30 minutes for the food to arrive. Her eggs were way overcooked and neither of the hash browns were crispy. The server took her plate and also said he would get me a new order of crispy hash browns. My wife said we should leave, but I told her we should let them make it right. My eggs were getting cold so I tried a bite of bacon. It was overcooked and just crumbled. Her bacon was the same. Inedible. We waited another 10 minutes or more. The server brought her plate back. The hash browns looked like the same ones she sent back. I didn't see if the eggs were recooked. He said, "It looks like this is the best we're gonna be able to do on the hash browns." I couldn't believe what I was hearing. There was no mention of my hash brown replacement. There was a damage control guy walking around checking tables and telling customers their orders should be up soon. I'm pretty sure he overheard at least some of our conversation with the server. We stood up and told our server we couldn't hang any longer and headed for the door. The damage control guy opened the door for us and jokingly said something, not sure what. I told him everything about our food and coffee experience. No response. It doesn't get much worse that what we experienced. Decent coffee should be served in a slightly upscale breakfast joint. Cooking breakfast isn't that difficult. Customer service shouldn't be a challenge. We were never rude, nor were we upset. Just frustrated. I think this place is more bar than restaurant based on our experiences. I guess we could always give lunch a shot there, but it's probably not gonna happen. I hope they figure all this out. It's a really nice facility and Lago needs more dining choices. read more

Tried this restaurant for the first time last weekend and I really wanted to like this place.... But we were all-around not impressed. The booth/pew we sat in was dirty, crumbs left in the seat, the wood table had old food / syrup in the crevices between the slats.... Leaving me with a less than clean feeling. The food is just ok... the bacon was super thin, reminding me of the microwaved bacon. The pancakes were rubbery. The French toast tasted mostly like eggs and was not cooked through... the cinnamon syrup that came with it was an interesting consistently, more slimy than sticky. The biscuit didn't taste fresh and was tough... like the way bread gets when it's microwaved. The scrambled eggs and hashbrowns were the only things that were somewhat enjoyable to eat... Service was bare minimum level. Apparently our table of 5 was considered a "large party" and 20% gratuity was automatically charged to the bill... hmm. We don't plan to come back, unfortunately. read more

Ugh. I hate leaving a bad review. Listen, the food is great, but be prepared to wait. I mean set aside hours. I've been here three times. The first time was in the middle of a weekday, the waiter was funny and so quick. It took a while to get the food, but I knew it was freshly made so the 45 minute wait was fine. The next time I went was on a Saturday during breakfast service. We waited two hours. Never got refills. I decided to try them one more time on a weekday again... over an hour and still no food. There was maybe 3 other tables. We finally had to leave without food. It has potential, but it just takes way too long to get served. read more

It is great to have a breakfast restaurant in Lago Vista. They are still working out some kinks, but the food is very good and the people are friendly. Their omelettes are delicious and even come with hashbrowns! They also serve lunch. read more

Fries are low quality. Found a maggot like wormhole in the Fri on top but the human Jair on it almost covered it up from being seen. Overpriced small portion isn't cool but when the bartender steals by jacking up your bill with a drink special at regular price enough is enough read more

The food is OK. We went there on a Monday because the grandkids were here and hungry. We sat there for 45 minutes waiting for waitress to take our order then forever to get our food. I can make pancakes at home but the girls were hungry so we went there. We didn't know Monday night is Bingo night. We could have gone to JJs, which we usually do. We wanted to try something new. We didn't know they had to serve the Bingo players before they took our order and made our food. We would have left and gone to JJs. Plus, it was very loud with the gal calling out the Bingo numbers from across the room, screaming it out. We won't go on a Monday again, but we will give them another chance on a different time slot. read more

Went for breakfast this morning... I ordered the Eggs Benedict, with my eggs cooked over medium well with hash brown potatoes. Everything was absolutely delicious and amazing and my eggs were cooked to perfection!!!!!!!!!! My husband had the breakfast burrito with sausage and once again, his burrito was made exactly as mentioned on the menu!!!!!! Everything from the service, temperature of the food was hot and made fresh, to our liking. And for the food that was made fresh with good ingredients and a little time to prepare it, we enjoyed the food, Carmen our waitress was professional and checked on us frequently. Meh! Went at 2:00 in the afternoon. Had 3 different servers, including a manager. Two tables that arrived after us received their orders and their bills before were received our meal. I had asked for a plain BLT ( no egg, no avalado, regular mustard). The tardiness was blamed on them having to remake it several times. Husband ordered chicken with his wedge. No chicken was included. I think we were there for 1.5 to 2 hours for a "quick" sandwich and salad. Bread on the final BLT was soggy. Hoping they get better! read more

If you're looking for some yummy soul food in Lago, this is a great place to go. For breakfast on the weekends it really nails the diner vibe and I like their breakfast menu. I haven't been here for lunch or dinner. The ambiance needs some work but overall- we've been here many times and will definitely go back. read more

Strong 3.5. Good service. Pretty attentive staff. Food is a bit underwhelming at present but feel, given time, it will improve. First, under cooked hash browns. They came out like mush. The Flip House is Five Star in my book. I've had a lot of items on the menu and have never been disappointed. It's a fantastic eatery. The service is excellent and the ambience is relaxing. It's fun to watch the many tv's they have. The All Day breakfast is outstanding. I could eat there everyday. read more

Recently moved to the area so we wanted to try to local fair. Me and my husband were highly disappointed. Both of our sandwiches (chicken sandwich and BLT) were soggy...VERY soggy. I didn't finish mine because the bread was too wet to hold and he could barely eat his at all. Meanwhile, the table next to us had a drunk couple that took over the whole ambiance of that side of the restaurant (it was only about 6:30pm). They were so obnoxious and fighting about their relationship. Me and my husband couldn't have a conversation because of these other customers. I wish they were asked to leave so everyone else could enjoy their meal. Otherwise service was nice to us. Overall extremely disappointed though as this is one local places in our new community we will not be returning to. read more

New favorite restaurant! My husband and I both got the flipping bird sandwich and side salad. We could have slit it! Large portion. Chicken was so tender and sliced thinly. Bacon was delicious and cooked perfectly crispy but not too crispy. I got honey mustard instead of ranch. Great choice. Drew was our server and he was friendly and attentive. Looking forward to our next meal there. It is a new restaurant in a town with not many restaurants so you'll need to not be in a hurry. Oh we also got a sample of bourbon texas pecan pie. Over all experience was fantastic! Seeing young people working again waitstaff to kitchen! You can see how the Owners care about fresh homemade food! Not frozen!! Hope to see this place around for a good long time. You don't get hometown courtesy like you do at Flip House. read more
