Steak burrito with some of the chips they gave us in a to-go bag
    cassandra a.

We ordered takeout from The Taco Bar through Toast and the process was quick and easy. Food was excellent--we started with the grilled avocado appetizer and both ordered steak burritos. The burrito was packed with a generous amount of steak, which was both tasty and very much appreciated. For drinks, I tried the coconut lime margarita as well as the regular one, and my husband had the pineapple jalapeño. The coconut lime leaned a bit too heavily on the coconut and could've used more lime, but otherwise the others were fantastic. One thing I noticed is that the to-go drinks were priced higher than what's listed on the in-house menu, which was a little disappointing. That aside, overall it was a great experience and we'll definitely be back!

Tried out this local taco bar and overall had a pretty good experience. The drinks were solid, and the barbacoa taco--while flavorful--was a bit on the salty side. The steak taco was decent, but their special Cali burrito really stood out; it was packed with flavor and definitely worth ordering again. On the salsa side, the green salsa was excellent--bright and tasty--while the red one fell short, coming off a bit too watery. For dessert, the tres leches was disappointing. It had too much caramel and cinnamon, and the texture felt grainy, almost like the cake was crumbled before being soaked. Our server was great--friendly and attentive--and the moody interior with thoughtful décor makes it a nice spot to hang out. For Lago, where good food is hard to come by, this place is a welcome addition with a menu that actually delivers on variety. If you're going, I'd recommend sticking to the Cali burrito, green salsa, and a drink--you'll leave happy

My first time here - we enjoyed the place on this Sunday afternoon. Attentive waitress - food came out quick and it looked good. Started out with chips and queso - loved it. The steak fajita taco grilled fish taco were excellent. The side of cilantro lime rice was tasty. Didn't try the tequilas but they have a good selection.

5/5 I recommend this place to anyone that is visiting or living in the Lago Vista or Cedar Park area. The service here is amazing and really fast. I recommend the chicken and waffles and the porky everything here is just great and really good vibes.

Service was fantastic, food was decent! A solid 4/5. We are from California so we are used to a different style of tacos. We shared the crab tostada. It was good, the presentation was nice. We probably should have got the tuna tostada instead- that's just preference on fish. My husband got a grilled red fish taco and I got the Barbacoa taco. They both were good.. not bad.. not excellent. The inside was clean and cute. Loved the style of the place. I would come back and eat again!

Service - very good, server Riley. Food was good or ok. We had the crab tostado & the crab was the consistency of canned tuna fish served w/large blue tortilla chips (half were stale). Last time we had the crab tostado the crab was chunky & much better tasting (early March 2025). Won't order this again. The fried shrimp taco was ok - not worth a second try. The pork tacos were good - large chunks, well seasoned, moist served w/a delicious sauce. Drinks were fine - Sunrise Tequila shot & Jalapeño Pineapple margaritas. Next time we'll order different drinks.

If you like tacos and/or tequila, you'll love this place. First off, it's The Taco Bar, not a taco bar. You won't be making your own tacos from a buffet of fillings and toppings. The Taco Bar is a full-service "craft taco and tequila bar" where you can find all kinds of Tex-Mex appetizers, tacos and tequila cocktails (and other spirits). We dined here the first Friday night it was officially open, and it was packed at 7:30, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Decor might be described as industrial Tex-Mex, sort of moody and metallic; the tables are kind of packed together; ask to be seated along one of the walls if you want elbow room. The wall behind the bar is distinctive. Our server Riley was informed, competent and friendly despite the crowd, but with that many people there, nothing came fast. When I ordered a shrimp taco, Riley asked me if I wanted it grilled or fried; since that leads me to believe dishes are made to order, one shouldn't expect fast. My taco was great. They're pretty big, maybe 8 inch tortillas; beans and cilantro rice are available separately. The queso is out of this world, and the green and red salsas that came with the salsa flight were spicy and flavorful. I found the creamy verde less appealing but someone else might like the spice respite. The tortilla chips were thin and crispy and I ate every last one. Everyone at our table enjoyed their cocktails (except my husband who enjoyed his beer and tequila shot). Kind Of A Big Dill was 100% my jam since I have been known to enjoy pickleback tequila shots. It was pretty, expertly made and properly balanced, worth $12 to me. For shot lovers, there are amazing array of tequila options in every price range. Other spirits are available. Our table of four paid $40 a person plus tip which I found fair. We left satisfied.

Finally, today was the day and I sure wish I would have tried this place sooner. Since moving to Texas from Southern Cal, I haven't found many places that have what I would call authentic tacos. I keep trying hoping to find that place and I just might have. They are located in a small food truck court off 71. Easy parking and they have plenty of outdoor seating if you want to enjoy your tacos fresh. I only ordered "street tacos" with Adobada; I didn't have to wait long and I did take them to-go since I don't live very far. When I got home, they were still fresh and warm. They were prepared in fresh corn tortillas (they do also offer flour) and there is quite a bit of meat. They came with lime wedges and some red & green sauce. Given my experience with other taco locations, I wasn't expecting much. But my first bite... I was surprised at how delicious they are. Most places I have been to, the meat tastes as though it has been warming in a metal bin for awhile and lacks freshness. But this meat was very fresh and delicious. Squeeze a little lime and add some of the green sauce and these tacos are epic! I ordered three and thought for sure I would end up throwing one or two of them out. But after eating two of them, I saved the third for my daughter but was tempted to eat it too. If the tacos are this good... I am sure the rest of the food must be great. I have had tacos from a few places in downtown Austin that are good, but it's a far drive to get them regularly. It's nice to know the best tacos I have tried since coming to Texas is quite close to me. And between the tacos I have had in Austin and Ortega's, I would choose Ortega's any day. Although they provided red sauce, if you like really spicy... use the green sauce. Like finding good tacos, it has been difficult to find good spicy taco sauce but their green sauce is going to make you sweat a little. Although I waited years to try, I'm glad I finally tried Ortega's and I will be back soon.

I have tried dozens of places in Austin for tacos and just can't seem to find anything close to the tacos I enjoyed when I lived in San Diego. Living in San Diego, I spent a lot of time in Mexico and I would definitely say they make tacos a particular way. And it was easy to find places in Southern CA that served what I refer to as "authentic" Mexican tacos. When I came to TX, I had heard all about TEX MEX and the "tacos" and was really surprised at the difference between the tacos here and the ones from Mexico/SoCal. But, I'm resilient as a "foodie". I will keep trying until I find that one place and yesterday... I finally found what I would say are the MOST authentic Mexican tacos. I happened to find out about this place on a Facebook post and drove out. It's not a place I would have driven by and even if I did, I might not have stopped. But again, I am determined to find someone who can make tacos like I'm accustomed to eating. It's a little trailer located right on the road and they have a big "TACO" sign on the road so you shouldn't miss it. If not the sign, you will probably see a crowd of people enjoying tacos or waiting for their order. I started off ordering what I would consider the 'basics' - a Carne Asada taco and an al Pastor taco. For me, if these are good, the rest of the food is likely to also be good. For starters, they prepare it when you order it! This is a great sign. So many taco places I have been to, they have the meat all ready and just scoop it into a taco shell. Taco meat should be made to order and not premade so already, you know this is a quality taco shop. You can get corn or flour tortillas but I strongly recommend the corn for a taco. They serve them the traditional way with two tortillas and the tacos come with a generous serving of meat. And talk about hot and fresh! I've also found here in Austin, it's been difficult to find legitimate salsa. I had the green sauce and without question, the BEST salsa I have had since moving to Texas. They really should be selling their salsa! My first round of tacos was so amazing... I ordered more! I ordered more of the carne asada and al pastor to take home to the family and even ordered some bean & cheese burritos. Oddly enough, a bean & cheese burrito is such a staple of just about any Mexican restaurant in SoCal but try and get one here in Texas and it's almost impossible. It was refreshing to find a place that makes a bean & cheese burrito and make them authentically; in a large flour tortilla. If your only experience with Mexican food is "Tex Mex", do yourself a favor and make the trip out and experience some authentic tacos. If you have moved here from SoCal and are missing tacos from home... you'll want to make the drive out here for these tacos! And if you like spicy, you must try the green salsa. By the way, to save time, they do take phone orders so you can always just place your order on your way over and they will have them ready when you arrive. They are very nice people and the food is amazing!

I liked that the hot sauce wasn't too hot; it's smooth and pourable as opposed to chunky. Portions were nice; I took half of mine home. Soft drinks are in a can. I'm deducting two stars because while we were there, a couple came in with their dog and proceeded to order and eat, feeding the dog off of the plate as it sat in the woman's lap. If this was on an outside patio, I wouldn't have given it a second glance, other than to think that the dog was cute. But I'm sorry, gross. And none of the staff addressed it, which makes me wonder about their cleanliness standards...

Complete with a fire pit, full bar with TVs, lots of fans, QR code orfering and checkout an option...super chill, spacious, and inviting environment (especially since it's located directly off of busy 620). The inside is really large, including an oversized bar area seating. Offers a very nice dining option (or just for drinks), but if the weather's nice you'll "catch me outside." Don Mario has always offered traditional Mexican cuisine. If you're looking for boring Tex-Mex, you might be a little bit disappointed (albeit they do offer quesadillas, fajitas, flautas+ but kicked up a notch). Some of my personal favorites are the Mexican street tacos (seven different proteins to choose from), ceviche, albondigas, cóctel de camarones, and more; great chips and salsa. Another favorite is off menu, but it's just a basic refried bean and cheese burrito. Magically flavorful and they are not shy with the cheese, which is a very good thing in my book. A great inexpensive and indulgent option to get in protein for the day. Always receive very friendly and prompt service from both wait staff and kitchen. They're always amenable to any special requests, including creating off menu items as previously mentioned. If you're in the mood, they do serve some pretty tasty house frozen FRESH fruit margaritas (strawberry, pineapple, cucumber, or mango). They have a limited happy hour available Monday through Friday from 3-7pm. Save a buck is a buck is a buck. ;) Overall, sí por favor. :D ¡Salud!
