I've heard of the Taco Bar, and decided I would check them out after work. I do work in Bee Cave, so it took an hour to get there. By the time I got there I was pretty hungry. I was greeted as I walked through the door. The gentleman said sit where ever you'd like. He followed behind me with a menu, and laid it on the table. I looked it over for a few minutes. It's pretty straight forward. Not an over large menu. It's just a few tacos. Waitress came and took my order. I ordered the chips and salsa, and a Barbacoa taco. Chips and salad are great. Roasted tomatillos, just with a slight heat to them. Chips are light, and warm. Taco was delicious. Fresh flour tortilla, and so much shredded meat. Meat is flavored perfectly. I could have eaten 2 of them. But I filled up on chips. Enjoyed my dinner. Service was great. read more

This place was pretty good the first time I came. The flavor here can be really good. Although this visit was definitely not the same. Maybe it is a hit or miss spot, or maybe they just had an off day, but man... it was not great this time. The chicken in my burrito was so overcooked it was basically crispy chicken jerky, almost burnt. I am assuming it is pre made and then reheated on the griddle, but whatever happened here was just no bueno. The prices are crazy! $6.50 for the cheapest taco and $13 for the most expensive. You are looking at $20 to $40 for just three tacos. That is literally insane. The whole menu follows the same trend. I cannot imagine their business lasting long if they are only catering to people with fat wallets. I would get it if this was downtown Austin. But this is Lago Vista, dude. I know everything is going up these days, but this is getting ridiculous. These are the same owner's of Burger Bar, legacy B.B.Q., and Lakeside subs... ALL OVERPRICED SUBPAR FOOD! read more

We ordered takeout from The Taco Bar through Toast and the process was quick and easy. Food was excellent--we started with the grilled avocado appetizer and both ordered steak burritos. The burrito was packed with a generous amount of steak, which was both tasty and very much appreciated. For drinks, I tried the coconut lime margarita as well as the regular one, and my husband had the pineapple jalapeño. The coconut lime leaned a bit too heavily on the coconut and could've used more lime, but otherwise the others were fantastic. One thing I noticed is that the to-go drinks were priced higher than what's listed on the in-house menu, which was a little disappointing. Love it! Weekly repeat. Tacos, salsa flight - creamy green salsa is my fave albeit spicy. Black beans are ultimate favorite and shrimp taco, redfish taco, chicken and waffle and surf and turf are go-to's. Usually house margaritas for us with Grand Marnier floater/salt rim and another with chambord floater/tahin rim. Drinks are potent and service is always friendly! read more

Pros: Went on a Tuesday for their Taco Tuesday special. It's a good deal - you get chips and salsa, a house marg, and 2 tacos for $20. The shrimp taco and the beef fajita tacos were good. The margarita was a little too tart, but still had great flavor. Service was attentive and polite, but slow - I believe the kitchen must have been backed up. Cons: It was incredibly loud. I sat at a table for two and had a hard time hearing my friend sitting across from me because of the noise (and probably the echo) in the space. Tried out this local taco bar and overall had a pretty good experience. The drinks were solid, and the barbacoa taco--while flavorful--was a bit on the salty side. The steak taco was decent, but their special Cali burrito really stood out; it was packed with flavor and definitely worth ordering again. On the salsa side, the green salsa was excellent--bright and tasty--while the red one fell short, coming off a bit too watery. For dessert, the tres leches was disappointing. It had too much caramel and cinnamon, and the texture felt grainy, almost like the cake was crumbled before being soaked. Our server was great--friendly and attentive--and the moody interior with thoughtful décor makes it a nice spot to hang out. For Lago, where good food is hard to come by, this place is a welcome addition with a menu that actually delivers on variety. My first time here - we enjoyed the place on this Sunday afternoon. Attentive waitress - food came out quick and it looked good. Started out with chips and queso - loved it. Service was fantastic, food was decent! A solid 4/5. We are from California so we are used to a different style of tacos. We shared the crab tostada. It was good, the presentation was nice. We probably should have got the tuna tostada instead- that's just preference on fish. My husband got a grilled red fish taco and I got the Barbacoa taco. They both were good.. not bad.. not excellent. The inside was clean and cute. Loved the style of the place. I would come back and eat again! read more

Nope. No thank you. Place was dirty like greasy. nobody really said hello. Service was 50% tacos had no flavor. I doubt there was any Mexican people involved in the design of the recipes. We're gonna have tacos in Texas if you gotta bring your a game, they brought their C game. Come on guys do better. Service - very good, server Riley. Food was good or ok. We had the crab tostado & the crab was the consistency of canned tuna fish served w/large blue tortilla chips (half were stale). Last time we had the crab tostado the crab was chunky & much better tasting (early March 2025). Won't order this again. The fried shrimp taco was ok - not worth a second try. The pork tacos were good - large chunks, well seasoned, moist served w/a delicious sauce. Drinks were fine - Sunrise Tequila shot & Jalapeño Pineapple margaritas. I ordered flour tortillas but I got corn. No one answers the phone, their message says to send a text that apparently isn't monitored because I got no response. I ordered the fried red fish taco and shrimp taco. Both could use more seasoning on the seafood. Pretty mediocre for the price of one taco. Customer service needs work. read more

If you like tacos and/or tequila, you'll love this place. First off, it's The Taco Bar, not a taco bar. You won't be making your own tacos from a buffet of fillings and toppings. The Taco Bar is a full-service "craft taco and tequila bar" where you can find all kinds of Tex-Mex appetizers, tacos and tequila cocktails (and other spirits). We dined here the first Friday night it was officially open, and it was packed at 7:30, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Decor might be described as industrial Tex-Mex, sort of moody and metallic; the tables are kind of packed together; ask to be seated along one of the walls if you want elbow room. The wall behind the bar is distinctive. Our server Riley was informed, competent and friendly despite the crowd, but with that many people there, nothing came fast. When I ordered a shrimp taco, Riley asked me if I wanted it grilled or fried; since that leads me to believe dishes are made to order, one shouldn't expect fast. My taco was great. They're pretty big, maybe 8 inch tortillas; beans and cilantro rice are available separately. The queso is out of this world, and the green and red salsas that came with the salsa flight were spicy and flavorful. I found the creamy verde less appealing but someone else might like the spice respite. The tortilla chips were thin and crispy and I ate every last one. Everyone at our table enjoyed their cocktails (except my husband who enjoyed his beer and tequila shot). Kind Of A Big Dill was 100% my jam since I have been known to enjoy pickleback tequila shots. It was pretty, expertly made and properly balanced, worth $12 to me. For shot lovers, there are amazing array of tequila options in every price range. Other spirits are available. Our table of four paid $40 a person plus tip which I found fair. We left satisfied. read more

Tried this place for the first time, had fish taco and felt like I had food poisoning the next day around the same time. Figured maybe it was a fluke and tried to eat here again. Another gem owned by Hannah and Drew in our town of LV! The steak in both the taco and quesadilla is melt in your mouth delish! Do not come here if you have a shellfish allergy. I was told that nothing on the menu was safe for me to eat because everything is prepared on the same surfaces, and that they were "unable to accommodate a shellfish allergy." I always inform restaurants about my shellfish allergy and understand that cross-contamination can limit my options. However, I usually expect at least a few safe choices. Being told that absolutely nothing on the menu could be eaten safely was disappointing and frustrating. Atmosphere and service were good though. read more

Great craft tacos made with fresh high qualify ingredients. We have been here twice since they opened within the last month because we are trying to try all of the tacos.! We gave this place two chances--and both times, they failed miserably. First order: three burritos with some basic substitutions. Nothing complicated. What we got was a total mess. Not a single one of the burritos was correct, and it was clear no one even bothered to read the order properly. We reluctantly decided to give them another try tonight, hoping maybe it was a fluke. Big mistake. This time we ordered a fried avocado taco specifically for our vegetarian roommate. The taco explicitly does not list fish on the ingredients. And yet--surprise!--they put FISH in it. Not only is that gross negligence, it's incredibly disrespectful to people with dietary restrictions, whether they're based on ethics, health, or religion. How does something like this happen? Why is your staff this careless? Either your kitchen can't read, or they just don't care. Both are dangerous. We're not just disappointed--we're furious. This isn't just about bad service. This is what Lago vista needed! It's a perfect date night spot, but the lunch special is unbeatable! The shrimp tacos and fajita are our go to, but we love pretty much everything on the menu! The new taco with chimichurri ranch is awesome! The service is great even when the restaurant is super busy. 10/10 recommend! read more

Went in tonight, got seated immediately but then waited 20 mins without a waitress coming over to even acknowledge us or take a drink order. I went to go tell the hostess that we hadn't yet been waited on and she simply said "okay, so you're leaving". No apology or attempt to get our order taken. The novelty of having a new restaurant here in Lago will wear off pretty soon and they won't last if the customer service remains this way. read more

We've been to the Taco Bar twice and both times my wife and I enjoyed the food, service and atmosphere immensely! I love both the chicken and steak tacos and my wife loves the red fish taco so much she had it both times. The margaritas are outstanding! Yeah it's a little pricy, but I think it's well worth it not having to drive into Austin for food of similar quality. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

Went in for lunch. Was immediately told that nobody else had shown up, so there'd probably be a wait! We ordered iced tea and were immediately that it was brewing!! However the same waitress seemed to be concentrating all of her time and attention to three ladies drinking alcoholic beverages at the bar!! SO apparently unless you're drinking alcoholic beverages, you will wait and wait and wait to be served here!! The entire time that we were in the restaurant, she concentrated ALL of her time and attention to the same three ladies at the bar!! We will most definitely not be back since we're NOT alcoholic's and we DO NOT drink alcohol and it was majorly obvious that our business wasn't important enough to be given even a moment of the waitresses time and attention and obviously the owners don't seem to care about this type of behavior from their wait staff!! The way in which we were treated was absolutely appalling to say the least!! The Taco Bar will never get any more of our hard earned money!!!!!!!!!! read more
