It is Townwide Yard Sale Weekend in Strykersville, New York, so after shopping all the sales, we went to the Flip Side for some lunch. My little guy grabbed a plate of chicken fingers and fries, which made his day. We were delighted with the live band, and the big pink pig mascot was super jolly! You have to see the photos. The pit master was smoking brisket and the homemade macaroni & cheese specials looked absolutely incredible. It's the first time we sat on the outdoor upper deck, but the wind was so ferocious we had to come inside. Still blustery through the open garage doors, but much more pleasant. I've never been so disappointed with a fish fry. The fish itself was so-so. The batter was mushy except for the ends, which were hard as rocks. The fries were small and limp like they'd been microwaved. The way too sweet coleslaw was swimming in liquid and had little squares of maybe pineapple? I really have no idea. This place was really very good and I loved our waitress she was a trip. Food was yummy and the place is huge with large bar, bowling alley, games, and there's a large outdoor covered patio as well! The French onion soup was awesome and my buddy really enjoyed the ribs and brisket combo he got. I had the smothered chicken which was also very good. My only suggestions is they need more vegetables options for sides as it was a lot of potatoes and rice and stuff but hey it's a bar what do you expect! read more

Loved it here! This was my first visit and I was pleased at how accommodating and courteous the staff was. From the time I made the reservation for 8, to the time we all walked out the door together at the end of our party, they took good care of us and made us feel welcome. I came here with about half of the members of the women's motorcycle riding group I'm in and this was chosen as the location of our chapter's holiday party. I was the first to arrive so I sat at the bar until a few more women arrived. Once most of the women arrived we went to our table and ordered several appetizers to share. Cheese fries, two munchie platters, and an order of spinach dip. We snacked on appetizers for about 20 minutes, the rest of our group arrived, and we chatting until our server came over and took our orders. It took about another 25 minutes for the food to come out but that was ok because everyone was having such a nice time. Everyone's food was good and hot when it came out and there were no complaints. After dinner we pulled names from a hat (actually it was a bowl with little pieces of paper we all wrote our names on) and did a gift exchange. It was lovely. There was a bowling alley in the back which we didn't have a chance to use but could definitely see another event in the future. Great food, great atmosphere, short on staff. The staff they do have are doing the best they can, but it's impossible to check on tables as much as they should. If I were younger, I'd work there. The hostess/bartender was really friendly and the food was exactly what we were looking for. A good amount of people were there on a Tuesday afternoon. Went here on a Saturday night, not busy at all. Started with a dozen steamers and 1 order of clams casino. Both were just okay. The steamers were very small! I ordered breaded chicken wings plain with the Abbott sauce on the side and the guys split a double order of regular chicken wings with hot Abbott sauce. Both orders of wings were Super tiny, little baby wings! The breaded wings were nothing special, but the guys wings... Were borderline raw. Service was eh! Been to the Flip many times. Actually, was surprised with a birthday party there recently with 50+ peeps! Everyone had a great time! All the folks raved about the atmosphere! The food is always super tasty! Our service was top notch (friends are still talking about it 3 months later...). It goes good on chicken wings, chicken fingers, I don't know what else they put it on...but ..yum! They have a great outdoor deck to sit on which is nice when it isn't too hot. Inside they have a nice dining room area, and seating at the bar. There are a few bowling lanes, a pool table, dart boards, TV, music...an all around great place to spend a Friday or Saturday evening out with friends. The food is priced fairly, and so are the alcoholic beverages. Brought my hiking group here for lunch after a gorgeous Letchworth outing. Service was excellent and accommodating of our wanting separate checks. Food was delicious and served promptly. We were in the neighborhood, my bf knows the owners and he wanted to stop in. The place is big and definitely a local hang out. Don't expect hipsters or diva's of the elmwood strip. Just regular town folks enjoying a night out. The waitresses were not your snobby girls. They all looked like they were down to earth and pretty with a touch of bohemian look. The thing is...EVERYone.... hostess and waitress greeted u with a smile. The food is normal comfort food. Tasty and satisfying. The fries ...they tasted homemade.
