Recently I purchased laminate flooring from the floor store. I needed to butt the floor up to another laminate floor. I asked for trim. They special ordered the trim transition piece . When I brought it home it was not the write type. When I tried to return it, I was told I couldn't because it was a special order. The sales person told me they would check with the manager and company to see if it could be returned. The company it was special ordered from would not take it back but the floor store manager and sales person , Jill, worked with me and helped me out. Hi, I worked with Jill on a couple of projects. One small fireplace design for our firepit outside and the redo of our master bathroom. On both projects Jill was exceptionally helpful, returned my calls, and was even able to diagram my thoughts on paper. She really understood my vision. We bought hardwood flooring from the Floor Store. Cambria, the sales manager helped with the selection of the floors, and reduced the original bid price below to beat their competitor. But the biggest thing was the installation. The installation team, led by Angel, was outstanding. It is the best flooring installation I've ever had done. Angel was fast, easy to work with, and a perfectionist about the results. A great combination. I would use The Floor Store again, and would insist that Angel do the installation. The Dublin store lighting and the ability to get up close to the large size flooring samples enabled us to visualize the products they offered. We appreciated how our sales person Diana made it so convenient to schedule an appointment to measure our home, how quickly she provided the estimate, how she offered us the option for early delivery of the baseboards so we could paint them prior to installation (which saved us time and effort), and how she provided product information that assisted us to make an informed decision about floor heating systems. The installers she sent were great. Larry & Nick were experienced and they did those details that make a quality installation. With all of us working from home, we cannot emphasize enough how important it was to us that they were friendly, unobtrusive, gentle with moving our furniture, and extremely neat. We recently purchased ceramic tile for our bathroom remodel and also purchased and had the store install new carpeting and underpad for the 2nd floor. Both the sales staff and the carpet installers were great. Brian, our sales rep, not only knew the products well but also came to our condo to perform the measurements for the carpet and explained how the installers would cut the carpet for the seams and cuts that would be made to accomodate permanently attached items to the floor. Good prices but do not I repeat do not use installation services. Install manager is a complete idiot. In middle of my complete home remodel he sends out the wrong crew and installs carpet in my upstairs not the laminate downstairs as ordered. My whole project grinds to a halt and he won't own his mistake. My upstairs needed to have all 8 of the prehung doors installed as well as the baseboard. The tile guy was working in both bathrooms and had his saw setup in one of the bedrooms which they moved. When I called very upset the installation manager stated "thats what I told him to do". A bold face lie. Never the less they returned a week later and removed all the carpet. Now the laminate guys come out and do not do what i was told they would do. I had asked about leveling the floor and was reassured that it would be done. I had one spot by the entry of the room that had a noticible slope. They did not level and then stated that they do not do that. Now comes the best part. All of my tools are stolen the evening of the laminate install. Every power tool and hand tool including ladders and workbelts. My brother inlaw was my contractor so we can rule out him. The only guys I did not know you got is the "The Floor Store" install people. They denied any of their employees could be involved. It took a truck or van to remove all my stuff, not a neighborhood thief stealing a saw or drill. Now the carpet install guys come back and reinstall carpet all goes well accept carpet has the strange problem. Each time I vacuum individual carpet strands extend up from the surface about 1/2 inch. So you have this nice evenly vacuumed carpet with these strange noticable sprouts of carpet sticking up. Call back installation manager it takes weeks to talk to him and an additonal 5 weeks to get him out to my house to inspect it. Mind you my home is less than 1 mile from the store. His answer, I have never seen anything like that before, let me contact the vendor. So another 2 months go by with no phone calls and finally I go into store and talk to guy. His answer I will come over with scissors and cut each one off. Thanks, but no thanks I will handle it. The sales crew was great, knew their products and helped me decide what was best for my appliation. The install division is a joke. Run don't walk to someone else. read more

First of all, DO NOT EVER use this store for anything you may need for your home. The sales person at first seemed very friendly and very helpful as we spent 4-5 hrs with her ordering an assortment of bathroom tile for the shower ,tub area and the floor .The order was over $3500.00 .We felt comfortable in our decisions as we saw samples of everything and the theme we had chosen was perfect. But then the order came and all the trouble started. First of all, the floor was competely the wrong floor and when we pointed that out :our little sales gal says ,and I quote, "well it's close,so why not just take this so I don't have to worry about it coming out of my pay-check." Of course, we reminded her we had stood on that tile and went over it a dozens times that ,that was the one we wanted and Not this one .She was not happy to have to re-order the tile we had chosen . Then we opened the boxes for the floor and found out that the tiles were not tumbled and when we called she said it doesn't come like that but never bothered to tell us that in the 4-5 hrs we spent with the original ordering process. So we layed the floor tiles as is .Now ,we are on the tiles for the shower and we open all those boxes to find out they are not even close to our original samples we had chosen. When we called the store they would not return our calls right away and then after talking to the Assisstant Manager ,we were assurred it would all turn out ok and all we had to do was drive to Hayward and exchange them for something we liked at the warehouse MCI. Now the sales people at MCI were wonderful and indeed we found another product we knew could work out for us. While we were there we also discovered there really was tumbled tile for our floor and in several different colors. But that was too late as we had already had the floor installed. The sale person (Cambria) did not know her products and did not suggest we go look at the warehouse to see all the products ,so we took her word for it and now have the floor we didn't order. Lastly ,we now had driven to MCI x4 to pick out all new tiles to try to make this work for us afterall and when we were done ,The floor store REFUSED TO TAKE THE ORIGINAL ORDER BACK FOR CREDIT AND NOW WE BASICALLY HAVE 2 SETS OF TILE. Never have I encountered such poor professional business conduct from the salesperson , to the Assisstant Manager, to the Manager. On one ocassion ,we had called our sales person to find out if she could call MCI for us to find out if there maybe would be about 13 more pieces to finish our order and she called us back and told us someone had just come into the store and bought it. Of course,we did not believe her and drove to Hayward the next morning only to find all 13 pieces and was also informed by the MCI person that they had told Cambria that we could have it ,but we were lied too!!!!!!!!!!!! The Manager was told of this and said we could possible have a situation here where we could work out some credit maybe ,but since she never returned our calls and when we called her ,we were told NO that they could not take any returns. I was planning to buy all my supplies there for my kitchen and also floors for the entire house ,but ,NEVER NEVER NEVER after this experiebce. I also have informed about 200 people I am acquianted with who are currently planning to re-do their bathrooms and kitchens not to go to the Floor Sore!!!! TOTAL FIASCO!!! 23 DAYS AND COUNTING!!! We purchased wood floors for our living and dining room more than a month ago. We chose the same style we had installed in our office a year ago. My contractor arrived on Oct. 20th ready to install. He moved everything out including our VERY heavy wall units and ripped out our wall to wall carpeting. He then installed all the additional sub-flooring so that the floor was the right height to accommodate the new floor. We then opened the first box of flooring.....IT WAS DEFECTIVE!!! We didn't think we'd have to open the boxes to quality check them!! I called the store and was told that yes, in fact, they had other customers with the same problem. My first thought was "Then why the hell did you sell it to more people if you knew it was defective?!!" My second thought was "Who the hell quality checked this before it was shipped to the warehouse?!" I was given the run-around for several days until finally the manager called me after I became really upset since we were left to be living in our home completely torn apart with all of our living and dining room contents STUFFED in the main hallway and our kitchen, and our sales person decided to take the day off without even contacting us to give us an update on what was going on!!! It has been a HUGE inconvenience living in this disarray!!! The manager was in contact with the manufacturer, Anderson, but it still took a long time to get the answer that THEY DECIDED THEY WERE NO LONGER GOING TO MANUFACTURE THAT PARTICULAR WOOD FLOOR?! Anderson's Casablanca Spanish Hickory is one of The Floor Stores most popular floors and has been selling it for almost 10 years without a glitch. Anderson has offered to give us a DIFFERENT floor...."something close". Of course it's not going to match and our office floor is within sight of our living and dining rooms! Furthermore, I have lost my contractor as I was "borrowing" him off a very large job on the Peninsula. He drove to the East Bay on Oct 20th as a big favor to us and then got screwed out of our two-day install. I can't get him back, as he is committed to finish a very large remodel somewhere else. Now I'm being told by a new installer that the plywood my contractor prepped the floor with is going to have to come out because the "different" floor we had to choose is a different thickness. So, now even though I'VE ALREADY PAID FOR THE LABOR AND MATERIALS on that subfloor, I"M GOING TO HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AGAIN?!! I'm supposed to shell out another $500?! I don't think so!!!!! IF I WERE ANDERSON OR THE FLOOR STORE, I WOULD COMPLETELY EAT THE COST OF THIS MANUFACTURING MISTAKE. We have already paid TENFOLD in inconvenience, lack of matching floor, not to mention all the additional TIME and FRUSTRATION it has taken to deal with this. MY TIME IS VALUABLE TOO!! The frustration is not good for my compromised health situation!! At more than 3 weeks later we are STILL living with our house torn apart and no floor. I will update this rating based upon how Anderson and The Floor Store Dublin resolve this once and for all. UPDATE: 11/13/11 MANAGER "JENNIFER" at The Floor Store informed me today that they would not cover the cost of the subfloor and that we would now have TO PICK OUT A ANOTHER (yes ANOTHER!) DIFFERENT FLOOR to fit with our newly prepped subfloor that was the correct thickness for the original floor we were supposed to receive. She informed me that WE should have QUALITY CHECKED the wood before having our contractor prep the subfloor, which we would have done but we had already installed the same floor in the office....this product is not new to us. Doesn't the MANUFACTURER QUALITY CHECK? How does a product this defective even leave the warehouse?! She then would not let me get a word in the conversation which angered me as it would anger anyone because it's just plain rude and very unprofessional for a MANAGER to speak to a customer that way. I simply wanted to ask why they continued to sell a product that they KNEW was defective after having other angry customers before us. We will be seeking a full refund, as we are clearly not getting anywhere with this place. I'd like to give my money to another business that is not penny wise and pound foolish!! VERY POOR SERVICE AT FLOOR STORE DUBLIN!!!!!!!!!! UPDATE 12/1/11: I have changed my one-star rating to 4 stars. The store owner, Larry, called Nov 16th to apologize for our experience, and he was every bit sincere. I finally felt like I had been heard and that our complaints were validated. Larry immediately corrected the problems and I'm happy to say that the resulting customer service has been EXCELLENT. Many thanks to Jeannie for all the follow up calls....I greatly appreciate your can-do attitude. The left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. The installers for the carpet weren't told they had to move the furniture (negotiated at time of purchase). That delayed installation. They were given the wrong information about the stairs and came with no carpet tacks. That delayed installation. Didn't have a floor strip nor did they have closet guides as the old ones aren't correct. I also had them install new bathroom floor. The grout was short shipped. They broke the toilet. They stated twice what day they would be here to complete the floor and fix the toilet, but when I called to see why they weren't there, I was told I wasn't on the schedule. This means I wasted my time waiting, and the job isn't complete. Although the carpet looks great and they did a good job installing it, its the details. Update: Spoke with my sales rep and he apologized and accepted responsibility for the miscues during the job. He also adjusted the bill. Not to gripe...another detail not told to us. Apparently Shaw "Plush" can only be cleaned by a hand full of vacuums. I had a Shark that worked great with old carpet, couldn't push or pull with the new carpet. Went and bought a Hoover, better, but not great. On Shaw's website they have a hand full of suggested vacuums to use, They are brand and model specific, so that eliminates the discounters. Why they don't give you a hand out or mention it is maddening. read more

I've been comparison shopping for carpets & had a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. The sales rep showed me some samples & when I asked for the face weight and some other specifications (it wasn't available on the displays) he informed me that "we only provide that for commercial, carpet retailers don't provide that information for residential". At that point he lost interest in showing me anything else or answering any of my questions. So - I have to wonder who they actually sell carpet to - rubes that don't do any research or price comparison at all? read more

I would have recommended this company based on the selection available and our experience with the sales staff...Judy was especially helpful and friendly...BUT then came the installation process. YIKES! First the installation crew brought the wrong tile and had to redo portions they had installed. Then we had the carpet installed. First the installer argued with me about areas I had purchased/ requested to be installed. Then he argued about the demo that was needed (or what he would do)...then he said he didn't have all the tools necessary to complete the installation. At one point he asked me to see if the work looked OK. I pointed out that an area on the stairs showed bare floor underneath and wasn't done properly. He became so angry that he ripped out the carpet from the stair and flung it down to the floor below (where my 4 year old and I were standing). I have never felt so intimidated and basically unsafe in my own home. The crew was supposed to leave remnants of each carpet as stated in the warranty conditions...and did not (even thought I specifically asked for it). They also didn't clean up the carpet fiber mess left in the house and in the front driveway. Overall horrible experience. The owner of the company seemed to care less if we left satisfied customers or not. Lots of companies have similar products...it's all about the installation and service. The tile sample that we decided on didn't even come close to what was delivered. Either they had an old ,non current ,sample board or they had it mislabeled. Of course when you order you have to sign the contract that says there are no refunds or returns. The tile was installed and looks horrible, color wise ,and doesn't match our kitchen cabinets or anything in our house. Very displeased with the Floor Store. read more

Knew what we wanted before going in and just wanted to place an order, but the salesman proceeded to quiz me on the selection and whether I knew the difference between laminate and hardwood flooring. Little did he know that I have a contractors license and manage rehab work. You never know who your customers are. read more

We had laminate hardwood installed just over a month ago, 1200+ sq feet, total just over $18K, got 24 month interest-free option. Measuring was professional, sales was very helpful and accommodating. Completed in 4 days. Day 1 removed all carpet/baseboard and installed flooring in one room and hallway. Day 2 finished installing all the flooring. Day 3 was the stairs. Day 4 installed all new baseboard. Two installers except for day 3 - one guy doing the stairs. These guys were efficient, polite, had good suggestions. We prepped by packing everything in the house, took about 3 weeks and filled the garage. They moved some large furniture while they worked, but we had it almost empty. We moved pets from room to room and they worked around them. The floors look great, everything went very well, and we've had no problems at all so far. This was a good decision. We wanted the most water resistant laminate, and it's already been tested. Works great and cleans easy. One issue, they brought the wrong baseboard on day 1, but quickly fixed the issue and got the right baseboard the next day and didn't delay installation. I would have no problem recommending them. read more

We didn't have a great experience with this business. It all began with the sales person who took our order miscalculated the square footage. Installers ran out of carpet as they went up the stairs and left a few steps incomplete with nails protruding out from tack strips. It took almost 10 days for the additional carpet to arrive and for the job to be fully complete. By the way, the quality of carpet installation on stairs left a lot to be desired. I don't often post reviews but I'm very unhappy. I Placed an order for tile for our kitchen with Jill. I picked out the final tile while she was out but a note was left on her desk with my selection. After a week I did not hear back so I stopped in the store. I was told she was busy and I would have to wait. I waited while she worked with multiple other customers and no acknowledgement and no offer to have someone take my info to follow up. After almost 30 minutes I left. I called to cancel my order and was told I was an unreasonable customer. So unreasonable that no other store will be able to satisfy me and when that happens I can come back. No thank you! I understand that people are busy but to not follow up and then blame the customer is pretty bad. I will not be doing business here again. read more

This place is a joke! We purchased subway tiles at this store for 7.95/sq ft.... dumb mistake. The EXACT same subway tiles are sold at Home Depot for 1.95/sq ft! Are you kidding me??? And their return policy sucks. We also bought 12X12 mosaic tiles for $35/piece. We bought the tiles in advance during a no sales tax weekend, but didn't use them until several months later.... sure enough, almost every sheet of tiles had at least one broken mosiac tile. But it was our loss because they do not accept returns after 10 days. Will never purchase tile at this store again! If you buy tile here, make sure you inspect it right away! read more

I received quotes from three floor stores in the Dublin/Pleasanton area for Armstrong Altura tile. The Floor Store was several hundred dollars less than the others so I decided to go with them. My experience, unlike some other reviewers, was fabulous! Rachelle was thorough, pleasant, gracious and very patient with us while we decided on the color. Decent selection of flooring and would be 5-star but they oversold the product we ended up with around 10% extra instead of the contracted 5% extra.(two extra boxes of flooring instead of one) When we requested a return/refund, we were summarily dismissed. Needlesstosay, it has left an unpleasant taste. If you're willing to pay for an extra box of flooring above the contracted overage, then this place is fine. read more

We were in the Dublin Floor store over 4th of July weekend and what an amazing selection of flooring and tile they have!!! Truly awesome! Jill walked us around and explained all the nuances in the flooring and helped us pick some samples to take home. Ultimately we went with a laminate vs. hardwood because it was more interesting and more affordable/durable. I was worried that the experience would be overwhelming but with Jill's help everything went very smoothly. We went back and are selecting tile for our bathrooms now!
