We have made many purchases from this long established business over the years. The sales staff is very helpful and they have a large selection in the showroom. Their carpet installations have been good but the flooring we recently purchased was not well aligned and with chipped panels on some of the stairs exposing the concrete underneath. Their measurement for ordering flooring was insufficient to cover requiring a second order that took almost 3 additional weeks to install. Although it was their error they charged us for the additional flooring as well as freight charges a second time. Unfortunate for us as a customer with little choice but to pay for their error. read more

Went in recently and spoke to Fred about installing a vinyl floor for our basement. We went with the coretec pro plus, Belmont hickory. We set up an appointment with a very nice young lady over the phone after Fred had come to measure the dimensions. A pair of installers named Todd and Christian came and installed our vinyl floor in great time, they also really cleaned up well and did an excellent job. Very nice guys who took the extra step in terms of the fit and finish. Today we had a follow up to install carpet on our steps. Luis arrived with his partner and made quick work of the job. It came out great! Very happy with our experience, the floors and carpet came out excellent! Prices were good as well. Highly recommended. read more

I was initially hesitant to go with The Floor Store - I had received an estimate from a chi-chi north shore carpet store I had used several times in the past which, even after all of their additional "promos" and "discounts", was roughly 25% higher for the identical carpeting. How could this be? Yes, it could be! The carpeting is beautiful, the installation flawless (they even surprised me by making me several additional mats!), and Nancy, Fred, Elyse and Richard(?) were patient, professional and a pleasure to deal with. Used The Floor Store to install engineered hardwood on our main floor (2 bedroom, living, dining). The selection in the store was great, the service was great and the installation and product have proven to be great as well. The installation crew was fast, efficient and professional. Very impressed with the overall experience. Speaking of experience, it was so good that we had them come back and install a runner on our stairs. Same experience. North Babylon just had a basement done in vinyl planks came out great. while fred was there measuring the basement we showed him the main floor of the house which we were renovating and had 3 different levels of flooring (old crooked house) he suggested what wood product we should use and we did what he suggested and that floor came out great also. my wife and I pestered elise and fred for weeks taking samples back and forth and they were very helpful. also kudos to there installer todd who installed both floors and did a great job. would highly recommend the floor store. read more

The Owner Fred is a nasty unprofessional man, who took my money. They did not go over the product that I was purchasing was not correct for my application. When I confronted him on that he told me that the item is not exchangeable and that I should have done my research prior to selecting that as a choice even though they are the professionals. They never explain to me that to go on call on stairs you need to purchase a wall versus a nylon because the nylon will be slippery and someone can slip and get hurt. Obviously if they would explain that to me I would select something else. There are many other suppliers out there I would not recommend purchasing from them they are extremely unprofessional and all you get is games in a run around. read more

Had a small order for edging tile that turned out to be a 'special order' finally arrived after two months of waiting (I don't fault them so much for that, but I had to keep calling them to give me an ETA from the Manufacturer) Initially they were nice enough as I described my project & what I required. When they did come in, many of the border pieces were not what I wanted - they were 'capped' instead of 'regular'. They would not return them nor refund me my money. I got stuck with them and they told me "it was my fault & was what I ordered" in quite an overbearing, rude way. I know it wasn't a 'large' order but $100 is a $100, and if they treat the 'little guy' this bad, I fear what the ramifications would be if I gave them more $. If you DO use them, do NOT pay fully until you know you have what you wanted, or you'll get stuck like me. I'll take all my business elsewhere and tell my family & friends to do so as well. read more

Waited forever for product. Contractors who eventually cane were hard to understand, one floor installer bordered on arrogant and was nasty regarding our dog. This job was a long drawn out process. I would run out of space here explaining the play by play of what transpired! Five stars to my wife who picked out a nice floor and it does look nice. Finish work and details were not so great though. " oh, paint that, put a molding there, that sharp floor cut is just the way it is ( near handrail by stairs) Oh, and thanks roger for not showing to put in that oak threshold!! I got it!!! So what you actually live a block away!! My wife was an angel who put up with Fred , and all the rest!! Fred mr " how can I make you happy?!!" Come by the job, check on progress! My experience with the Floor Store in Farmingdale , NY was simply horrendous. They took my money and left me with a kitchen floor that had pronounced indentations and air pockets. The newly installed saddle was also damaged. The owner, Fred, took no responsibility and only offered an arrogant and defensive posture. He spoke to me in a rude and condescending manner. This company had made 2700 sqft of custom wood flooring for a sales office. Fred the owner showed us a sample of the finished product on 1 plank. When the entire shipment came in it was paid for in full. We opened the boxes upon delivery and found that the finish scratches off with your finger nail and their were 5 or 6 different shades of the product. The majority of the material is defective. Fred, the owners answer to us was " to bad, you already paid for it" I would never use them again and neither should you. Buyer BEWARE!!!! read more

He showed up to the appointment 1 hour early and rang the bell when we specifically said that the seller was a bit difficult. Fred was angry, rude and full of himself. We just had carpet installed in our living room and two sets of stairs. Attention to detail and very good job. Installers were professional and knowledgeable. Well I have been going there since June 2000. I made the mistake of getting an estimate from Lowes for 3 rooms. 2 carpet and 1 kitchen floor. A complete waste of my time. Buyer beware once you enter this place. The owner is an obviously angry man and has some kind of chip on his shoulder. When I went in, he was at the tail of berating a couple that were seemingly unhappy about a recent installation. I was up next and got a mouthful from this guy over nothing. I don't know how people can run a business this way but it seems to me that unless you get perfection in your first shot, difficult to do with flooring, you'll be treated as though you've done something wrong when you look for remediation. This is the worst customer service I have ever had in my life. The installer was smoking in my house and even after I asked him to stop, he refused. A second installer actually went upstairs in my home and when I questioned him why he was upstairs, he said he was "looking for my dog". They blasted their radio all day long and were extremely rude whenever I asked them a question. When I called and asked to speak to the owner, he never called me back! Horrible, horrible customer service, would never ever recommend them as long as I live again! They really don't even deserve one star. read more

Walked into the store and Elyse greeted me and showed me carpeting and tile, she was so helpful that is until I said I needed it for installation before the holiday and the jerking around began. I picked out tile brought it home to see if it matched brought it back to say yes its a go. They measure and I waited a week for a price, i said great lets do it, next they had to contact supplier, ok do it, a week to 10 days they said, ok again. I wait a week call back, we don't know schedule of installer waiting on them, ok i said. Call back 2 days later, Elyse says I will call you back, doesn't , i call next day, she answers I said I need this before the holiday its 2 1/2 weeks, ok she says will call you right back. Shocker she does but says its 7 to 10 days to get supplies, i said i thought you did that already, oh no you need to put money down. WELL GUESS WHAT ELYSE YOU NEVER MENTIONED THAT!!!!! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!!!!! Never again!!!!! read more
