We love visiting the St Augustine area! This place was recommended by lots of friends. It's not very fancy, has more of a chill vibe. It was a rainy Friday and the wait was about an hour. Definitely worth the wait! The servers were very friendly. The bar area was clean and attentive. Pork belly appetizer was small but tasted really good! For the meal, I got the fried green tomatoes sandwich with a salad. It was delicious! Flavors were definitely there. And the price was really good considering amazing taste and presentation. Good spot for lunch! The Floridian is decorated such that you feel like you're dining in a shack in the swamp. We visited for lunch on a Sunday and there were plenty of tables available. I ordered the fish camp fancy with a side salad. The fish camp fancy was delicious although I would have preferred pickles instead of cucumbers on top of the sandwich. Best restaurant in St Augustine. We always try when visiting at Augustine to come have lunch here. The food is always amazing and so is the service and they are one of the few restaurants that is pet friendly. This time around we ordered i guess all the menu hahah. Our first stop in St Augustine was at The Floridian for dinner! To begin, everything about this restaurant is adorable. True to it's name, The Floridian has a nostalgic vintage "Florida" vibe- lots of vibrantly green plants, wood accents, and fairy lights strung across the porch. We had made a reservation at 6:30, and I'm so glad we did given that the restaurant filled up quickly! Our server was great and started us off with some fried green tomatoes, I think because we told him we were on our honeymoon. The tomatoes were served with some pickled veggies and were delicious! There were so so many veg menu choices I had a hard time deciding what to order- but I went with the summer salad with blackened tofu and it was an amazing salad! The dressing was a rosemary dijon which I have never heard of but the flavors complimented each other well for a fresh salad. Mike had the cornbread stack with flounder. I tried a bite of the cornbread and it was decadent- sweet and spongey inside while having a good crusty edge. I wish I could bring The Floridian with me back to KY! If you're wondering "should I go here or...?" Go here! This was everyone's favorite restaurant in St Augustine. The wait was only 30 minutes on a Saturday afternoon, which if you've been in a very touristy city, you know that's short. The inside is an interesting mix of southern and Caribbean, with plants and multiple art pieces. The food: the menu is compact but it makes you feel like you want to try everything. I had the cornbread stack, it's offered with daily catch or tofu, I requested it with pork belly and OMG so delicious. You must try the fried green tomatoes too! The drinks: our favorites were "the evening redness in the west" and "no country for old men". Server was attentive without being overbearing. The only "con" is the seats. On the back, the tables have really tall stools or benches that are very high from the floor. read more

It arrived only mildly warm, so my friend sent hers back for reheating. We also had the charcuterie tray. We both loved the Lil Moo soft cheese on the tray. I came here because it was featured on Southern Living, but to be honest, it left a bit to be desired. The fried green tomatoes were fantastic, however. Our server was very attentive, but we were served with broken dishes, both plates on our table had deep cracks and chips. I wish my phone weren't dead when I was here, I would have shared pictures. As for the meal, I got the shrimp and sausage pilau, which was good, but the sausage was like a sweet breakfast sausage, which wasn't really my jam. We had an amazing meal here on our first night in St Augustine! This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend who has visited here a bunch. The food and experience did not disappoint! The vibe is very beachy and laid back. I would definitely recommend getting reservations in advance! It was very busy when we went. We were seated upstairs. Our server was super nice and attentive. They are known for their signature cocktails, so I naturally had to try them! I got their "Swamp Water" drink, which is their take on a mojito. It was awesome and super refreshing! If you like mojitos, you'll like this drink! We had a later reservation and didn't want a full meal, so we ordered a bunch of appetizers to share. We are so happy we did, because all were awesome! -Fried Green Tomatoes: super fun take on a southern classic! The breading was crisp and the sauce they had on top was incredible. -Fried Shrimp: My dad's favorite! The sauce and nuts on top was a great addition to these bite sized shrimp. -Chips and Dips: Loved this! The homemade chips were crisp. We loved the black bean dip and the hummus! Definitely add the pimento cheese dip (available as an add on). It went great with the chips! Pro tip- scoop the dip onto your plate first. The chips were thin so dipping them right in caused them to break. -Shrimp flatbread: This was a special the night we went. The bread was very different, but we loved it! It was thick and doughy and had a great seer on it. The different flavors in the flatbread were unique! It was a pretty large portion, so there is plenty to share between 2-4 people. For dessert, we had the caramel brownie. It was served warm and was ooey and gooey! I only wish it came with ice cream instead of whipped cream. Overall, this is a great spot to eat at when visiting St Augustine! It is in the heart of downtown and in walking distance from many of the hotels and bed and breakfasts. After waiting about 2 hours for a table we sat down . In their defense we brought our dog (thanks for allowing pets) . We previewed the menu during our wait. We decided on fish and grits and cornbread fish stack. Both were tasty but very heavy! Cornbread had great flavor and fish was good. Fish and grits had good flavors as well but heavier than I wanted at this time of the evening. Not a large selection of beer but they do have some to choose from . I have been coming to St Augustine my whole life and the crowds are getting larger which means businesses have longer waits. Writing a review will not make justice to this place! This is hands down one of the best vegan places I have ever had.. they have great variety of food options for vegans and they can even replace a non veg item to make it vegan for you. We started with the friend green tomatoes and that was absolutely mouth watering, crispy and tasty. We were 4 of us and took 4 different dishes and each of the dish was absolutely worth the money.. they also suggested great dessert options and we took brownie caramel, if you are a person that likes chocolate desserts you will love this. My boy friend and I are definitely visiting this place again sometime over the weekend to have the friend green tomatoes and an interesting dessert the host suggested "Peach Pie" and of course a nice main course. The ambience was great and the service was also pretty quick. We wrote our name for table and they gave 15mins time to let us know and they in fact sent us a msg within 5mins which was awesome! What an exceptional place. I don't know if the women who took our names, brought us water, cleared tables and sat guests, was an owner, but she acted like it. Our waitress was also very helpful. My wife has a long list of food sensitivities, and our waitress made sure her meal was perfect. Best lunch spot off of the busy old town strip. I come here often and really enjoy their specials as well as their standard fare. I love a beer with lunch and if I can throw in some fried green tomatoes, my day is made. I love how they kind of captured old Florida in the middle of a tourist spot. Easy walking and you get to see some cool things behind the main drag. Watch out for that lady that carries the Trump flag up and down St. George Street you want to give her a wide berth. read more

Incredible experience at this restaurant tonight. We had reservations for 5 and were seated right away. We overheard the hostess tell someone that they were full and accepting no more reservations--pretty impressive for a Thursday night. For an appetizer, we ordered the Company is Coming. It had pimento cheese, fresh pickled vegetables, fried green tomatoes and a homemade dill sauce. Perfect start. My husband ordered the brisket that had a street corn with cilantro. I ordered the salmon with potatoes and an incredible sauce. I was delighted with my dish as was my husband. For dessert, we had a peach sour cream pie with fresh whipped cream. There's a simple reason why my friend J brings all of her out-of-town guests to The Floridian: it's awesome. J made a reservation day of, and our trio arrived in a timely fashion after parking a few blocks away on a side street. We sat on the covered porch, and a fan kept any airborne insects at bay. Here's what I dined upon: Pickled Pepper Shrimps ($10.50) In the description for this appetizer, "addictive" is mentioned, and that would be appropriate. We really dug these Florida shrimp that were pickled in a lemony brine. There were also poblanos, bell peppers, onions, and capers in the mix. Kind of like a southern ceviche? Served with two slices of rustic bread sprinkled with herbs. Florida Sunshine Salad (with fresh catch grouper $23) You could get Florida shrimp, blackened fresh catch, or tempeh with this cheerful salad. It was almost too pretty to eat. While the fish was fine, the real stars of the salad show were the Florida strawberries which were perfectly ripe and divinely sweet. As a Georgia resident, it was cool to see blue cheese from Sweet Grass Dairy listed as a component. I have a slight beet aversion, but The Floridian managed to get me to chow down on their wee pickled beet cubes. The local lettuce, candied pecans, roasted sweet potatoes, and rosemary Dijon dressing rounded it all out. Sour Cream Strawberry Pie ($6.50) I made sure to save room for dessert since a place like The Floridian was bound to have praiseworthy sweets. Even though I was salivating over the lavender + sea salt + honey pie and the chocolate peanut butter cheesecake, we got the sour cream strawberry pie since I was so enthralled with my strawberries from the salad earlier. But frankly, everything sounded tempting! The sour cream strawberry pie was just as delightful as I'd hoped. The lovely berries were mixed into a sour cream filling sprinkled with almond streusel on top. There was also a fluffy ball of whipped cream, drizzled with bitter butterscotch (I think?). Superb. Our server wasn't bad though he could've been a tiny bit more attentive, and he didn't offer us a dessert menu, just asked about the checks. But I had an unintentional soft spot for him since he resembled an old friend of mine. Even though dinner entrees top out in the mid-$30s, The Floridian is quite casual. Bust out those tees and flip flops, locavores! If/when I'm back in St. Augustine, a second meal at The Floridian is definitely on the docket. read more

This place features such a unique twist on classic Southern food. You seriously won't find another place like it! Ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were some of the best I've ever had. They're topped with an incredible aioli that must be tried to be believed. For my main dish, I had the Shrimp 'N Grits (they were served with a delectable ginger-passionfruit reduction that gave it a "wow" factor never before found in tradition shrimp & grits). My boo got the 'N Waffles (pulled pork atop a delish cornmeal waffle). I also got a great cocktail - the Not So Basic Bee (vodka, aperol, orange liqueur). Refreshing, but packed a punch. They were open to turning a few of the cocktails into mocktails, and I just asked them to create something based on strawberry and basil and they did that in a fun glass. Very old-school Florida. I hope they never update it, honestly. They also have outdoor tables with umbrellas that are lovely on a nice day. We split the "Company's Coming" appetizer, which has all my favorite things: fried pickles, fried green tomatoes, and pimento cheese. I mean, does it get any better than that??? The Floridian-- Stop #3 on our Bar Crawl walking tour was another WINNER!! Wooo hoo! Heading into the restaurant toward the back on the left is the little bar area with stools and a few high tables. Pull up to the bar, and enjoy!!! We did!!! There are old fashioned books from early 1900/ to peruse. There's a list of interesting cocktail choices you must try. And the bartender is more than capable of mixing you up something custom. One cocktail on the menu had some missing ingredients but she substituted strawberry for beat and a few other floats to make a delectable concoction we named 'the red headed stranger'- like Willie Nelson's nickname but younger, fresher! Haha. Good atmosphere. Nice people. A good looking southern food menu, but we were holding out for dinner later. So, we definitely need to go back again for dinner. Thanks Floridian! After wandering along the main drag unsuccessfully trying to find a vegetarian friendly spot (with outdoor seating since we had our dog along) for lunch we decided to take a detour a few blocks over and stumbled upon the magical garden patio of The Floridian. After a glance at the menu and seeing the gorgeous decor it was an easy YES! We were quickly seated on the patio, cold waters served and the hostess sweetly even brought a water bowl out for the dog. (It was a Friday afternoon, a bit after lunch rush hour and there were two other groups on the patio and several indoors.) I ordered a mezcal drink and a beet and berry salad. I selected tofu as the protein. As you can see from the photos it was a hefty salad with plenty of fresh greens, berries, roasted beets and a delicious house made dressing. The tofu was grilled to perfection. Husband ordered a shrimp PO boy with house made chips and our guest enjoyed a burrito. There were plentiful vegetarian and vegan options on the menu and the service was quick and friendly. It down-poured while we were there and the brick patio floor flooded out a little bit but it didn't stop anyone from enjoying their meals out there. The lights, the vintage eclectic garden art... it all made for a memorable meal and an escape from the bustling busy streets of downtown. We will definitely stop back next time we are exploring the Ancient City with our out of town guests! read more
