Let me run down the list of reasons why I will be visiting this location the next time I am in Tucson. #1- Smashed Watermelon-this is the best adult beverage that I have had in a long time. You have to try this if you are a fan of watermelon. #2-Chicken Tinga Bowl-the pinto beans were cooked to perfection +.the sauce on the chicken reminded me of a mole sauce-it was so good. Pros: Great patio overlooking the valley from above. At night it's a great view. Good facilities, decor, ambiance, utensils, plates. Has an upscale feel while not being excessively priced. Cons: Food was ok not great. The mahi mahi tacos and black beans were nice but could have used more flavor. The guacamole lacked. It was bland and mostly just avocado flavor. Honestly, I stopped here on a whim after shopping at la encantada and I was pleasantly surprised. Service was on point. My food came so fast. The busser greeted me with water immediately. The server made recommendations. My food came out in less than 5 mins. I did order a drink with a tajin rim amd they brought it with salt. We came for Sonoran Restaurant Week. $35 for 2, 3 course meal. Fabulous deal. 1st course we ordered the warm queso which is so delicious as are their chips and salsa. The perfect chip texture. It's wild I never knew this was here.... we come to the area frequently, but it's tucked in the corner, where you don't even see it if you aren't parking on that side of the mall. Fell in love with this place in Phoenix, and had no clue, FOR YEARS... that there was one in Tucson. I love their fajitas. They have a sauce, that's unique, and just full of flavor. We have gluten allergy, so had the freshly made corn tortillas, which, I'm normally not a fan of, but these were really good. Others in my group got a burrito, drenched in sauce and fun flavors. Rice was questionable. Not really sure what was going on, looked like a mushy mess. We had gotten our food to go.... and for some reason.... they thought it was ok to put hot food into plastic containers. The fact that restaurants are still doing this.... let alone, a fancier chain restaurant, is ridiculous. During the weekends, expect a wait. We will probably be back eventually. read more

Sat at the bar and had numerous times the delicious taco salad. Bartender is always nice and has a sense of humor. But last night I was disappointed with the taco salad. Maybe they changed it but it was thrown together. It's normally layered with avocados on top with tortilla chips. No avocado and all messy. Has anyone else experienced this? Friday night happy hour at Blanco was such a great experience. The vibe is perfect, with plenty of windows and patio seating that made the evening feel amazing. While the happy hour menu wasn't huge, everything we tried was really enjoyable. Service was excellent, even with it being busy drinks and food were coming out quite quickly. Ready for the truth? I use to be a regular 8+ years ago when the servers had a semi-skimpy dress code and the tacos were 3 street style tacos FILLED with mahi and the sides were in bowls. The chips were super thin and crunchy as always. Fast forward to today. This is the second attempt in trying their mahi mahi tacos since 2020. Here's the facts. Server = Jorge. Absolutely fantastic. He was making up for the super slowness of the kitchen. At a little past noon, half full restaurant... the meal in itself took over 50 minutes to get out to us. (Warning... planned meeting or need to get back to work fast... skip this place!) PROS. Jorge! The seasoning on the mahi mahi tacos and birra was spot on. That's it! CONS. The chips are thicker! The guacamole was bland so add lime and salt! Where's the meat?? Where's the mahi I just dished out $20 for? Each taco is about 5-6 inches diameter with a piece of mahi... NOT kidding, both less than 3 inches. One per taco... everything else filler!!! The sides were COLD!! Not even luke warm. The birra was a nice size of meat in taco for $9. Wow. I finally got the chance to try Blanco and I had a wonderful experience! The food itself was excellent, a great modern Cali-Mex style menu. I started out with the Rosa Bonita Margarita, which not only looked beautiful but had a really good combination of flavors. I ordered the Cheese Crisp and the Tucson Chimichanga with Short Rib Machaca. Both were great to split, with the short rib Machaca being well-flavored and tender. They also did not skimp on the amount of cheese on top! I also loved the cilantro rice as a side. We were able to sit on the patio, which does have misters for the hotter months, and ate before the evening rush. Our server was so genuine and sweet, going above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and our food came out extremely quickly. Similar to Pace out of a jar. Also very disappointed with the Queso appetizer. No taste at all. Mahi mahi and carne asada tacos were ok and had some flavor, but were pedestrian at best. Food was significantly better last time we were here about 8 months ago. Maybe they adjust recipes to be more bland during tourist season?
