This is a perfect example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover. From the outside, the…read morerestaurant is a bit unusual. It's an older house painted red with black trim, featuring a newer deck that, at least when we visited, had no furniture on it. At first glance, you might assume it's a neighborhood sports bar or a casual local hangout.
Step inside, however, and you'll find something completely different. The atmosphere is warm, intimate, and inviting, with a classic dining ambiance that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in the neighborhood.
We were in Oneonta for Cooperstown All Star Village and were excited to discover this cozy farm-to-table restaurant. The food was excellent, and the setting made for a memorable dining experience.
We started with the Crab Puffs, made with empanada dough, crab rangoon filling, and a jalapeño-green onion emulsion. They were creative, flavorful, and a great way to begin the meal.
For our entrée, we shared the daily fish special, halibut served with farm-fresh potatoes and carrots. The fish was perfectly cooked, and the fresh ingredients really showcased the farm-to-table concept. The dish was simple, fresh, and delicious.
To finish the meal, we shared the Crème Brûlée for dessert. It was outstanding, with a perfectly caramelized sugar crust and a rich, creamy custard that provided the perfect ending to an excellent dinner.
Despite the restaurant being packed, we were seated immediately and received excellent service throughout the evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and kept everything running smoothly. The drink menu was another highlight, offering a solid selection of craft beers, wines, and cocktails.
Overall, this was one of the best meals we had during our trip. Great food, excellent service, a cozy atmosphere, and a unique setting make this restaurant well worth seeking out if you're in Oneonta.
