My SL 500 on a nice day
    Mel T.

The first car I ever fell in love with was a Mercedes SL. I was like 12 years old and knew that one day I would have one. Growing up there were T.V. shows that I watched just because the lead characters drove SL Mercedes. Remember Heart to Heart? Bobby Ewing from Dallas? Both drove SL Mercedes. Anyway, I knew that one day I would own one. Flash forward three decades. I finally achieved my automotive dream and found the perfect SL 500. I use it as my daily driver. I take care of it. I spend amounts of money that I am ashamed to speak to keep it running smoothly. I have driven it across country on a dream vacation and enjoy it just as much now as I did on the day I purchased it. Recently, I had a problem with the hydraulic system. I took my car to another Mercedes repair shop that I have dealt with prior and was told that it was a lost cause. "Hey, maybe you sell it and get something for it. My suggestion is that the repair is more than what your car is worth and is a difficult repair" is what I was told. The guys at the Foreign Service (Bruce, Mike, David, and Peter), they all spoke with me. They could tell that I took great care of my my 12 year old Mercedes. They took the time to diagnose the issue and went WELL ABOVE AND BEYOND to take care of me and my car. The fix was professional and the guys were able to correct my issue and get me back to my baby! I can probably write a lot more to tell you my sentiment about the service I received, but I will leave you with this... I have found a NEW service home for my Mercedes. The professional service and care that I received went above any experience that I have had at ANY Mercedes service at the dealerships I have been to....period. The care and love that The Foreign Service has for Mercedes automobiles and the kindness they show to customers shows from the first moment you walk into the front office. If you own a Mercedes, and care about keeping it running, and also care about getting GREAT service...The Foreign Service is where you should go.

Went here for the first time and they were very thorough, very kind and very helpful. When it came time for my next oil change, I went in a couple weeks before I had to drive to Nashville so I made sure everything was in working order. They told me I'd needed my flex pipe replaced, and in order for them to do it, they'd have to replace an entire part that would cost way more than was necessary, so they sent me to a cheaper place to get it done. I went to the suggested place that Saturday where I was told they needed to do extra work that would cost $100 extra and they'd have to keep my car over the weekend (requiring me to get a rental). Instead, I waited to call Triangle Car Care on Monday, I asked them what the approximate cost would be for them to just replace everything. He told me it would be way more, but he would check with a buddy of his on the other side of town for another quote for me. He called me back that morning, gave me a ballpark figure, told me I could drop off my car Wednesday morning, his wife would drive it over and he'd have it back to me by Wednesday night so that I'd have time before my trip. It ended up saving me $100 in labor costs and a 2-day car rental. It was SO nice, his wife even waited at the shop for them to work on it. I couldn't believe it, I've never seen such thoughtful service anywhere else. I will definitely recommend them to everyone I know.

I have consistently been struck by how different this location is from other mechanics. No unnecessary upselling and deception, no rude attitudes. The customer service here is better than almost anywhere else. The desk staff genuinely wants the best for their customers; they're not afraid to talk with you for 5-10 minutes and politely explain what's going on. They're always smiling, always checking to get your preference/consent before touching your car, always keeping you in the loop. It feels great to not have to worry about getting ripped off or lied to. Don't be discouraged by some of the older negative reviews; this place has evidently changed and is as professional as it gets. I took my car in 6 months ago to get my brake pads changed because of a grinding noise. They offered to do a free brake inspection (rather than immediately taking my money). They quickly came back and explained exactly what was causing the sound, and that, though they were happy to replace my pads if I wanted, servicing them was unnecessary, as they still had a lot of life left in them. A few days ago, I realized it was *definitely* time to get my brakes serviced and I set up an appointment. They warned me it might take a while, but wound up having me in and out in under an hour! Brakes feel awesome now. My fiancé came with me and was shocked at how great the experience was. Both the guys who work the front desk are killing it. Wish I could give 6 stars.

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with the service I received at this center(Meineke…read moreRaleigh Millbrook road). In January 2026, I visited for brake pad and rotor replacement on my Acura, followed by a tire rotation. During the service, the technicians were unable to remove a stuck lug nut due to not having the proper tool. They attempted to remove it manually, which resulted in damage, and I was subsequently charged approximately $90 for a replacement. This issue could have been avoided with appropriate equipment and procedures. After the tire rotation, I began experiencing noticeable vibration at speeds above 60 mph. When I returned, I was advised to have the tires balanced. Shortly afterward, I also observed a wheel alignment issue. I scheduled an alignment appointment for February, but upon arrival, I was informed that the alignment machine was not operational. No prior communication was provided via call or text. The front desk staff asked rescheduled for the following week and indicated that the alignment would be provided at no cost or at a reduced rate as a courtesy. The following week's appointment was also canceled due to the machine still being out of service. When I was finally able to schedule an appointment in March, the store manager stated that the alignment could not be offered for free. After speaking with another staff member, he agreed to a 50% discount. However, even with the discount, the quoted price was $130 for a four‑wheel alignment, based on an alleged original price of $260--significantly higher than comparable services in the area. Additionally, after an earlier oil service performed by this center, I discovered that one of the fluid caps had not been properly closed. The cap was left loose on the hood area, and I had to secure it myself. Overall, my experience was marked by poor communication, inadequate post‑service inspection, and pricing practices that felt misleading. I had to return multiple times to address issues that should have been identified and resolved during the initial service. I ultimately had my alignment completed at reputed Tire & brake shop for $95, where the service and communication were far superior. Based on these experiences, I do not recommend this shop for any automotive service.

Since it changed to Assurance Tire the quality of services has declined and prices have gone way up. Last week was the final time we will have service at Assurance Tire. We brought the SUV in for tire rotation and simple oil/filter change. Rotation was free and the oil change was $115 (similar with dealership prices). After the car was home we noticed a large puddle of oil on the garage floor and we could see the trail of oil on the street in front of our house. We brought the car back to Assurance and they said the gasket they replaced had a tear in it. The car was basically out of oil so they replaced the gasket and the oil. The next three days we continued to see new oil drops on the garage floor so we took it to the Lexus dealer. They said it was likely a cracked oil filter cover and the undercarriage of the car was covered in oil. We paid for the new part and cleaning. Assurance did not offer a discount or refund of the botched oil change nor did they offer to clean the mess under the car. They did offer a future oil change for free, but given this experience we'll pass on that. Assurance did give an estimate for them to replace the front brakes and flush the brake fluid; Lexus gave us a quote for the same at $70 less than the Assurance quote. Do you think we are going to trust Assurance with our brakes when they can't even do a simple oil change correctly? About a year and a half ago I got a quote from Assurance for a brake job on my truck which was about $200 more than I paid to have the job done at the Honda dealer. I'm not going to tell anyone where or where not to have their auto service done, but the advice I can give is to check around and maybe the prices at the dealerships are competitive or better (as in my case). I will give my trust to a business that wants my future business and shows they actually care.

I went to Advance Auto in the Walmart shopping center on Glenwood, and was all set to start parts swapping (start with the battery, then try the alternator), and came out with my battery to find a puddle of coolant under my car. I see Dan chatting with the Advance Auto folks, he sees me, comes out and asks if I need help. We chat, he looks under the car, listens to me, and gives me a reasonable rate and estimate to fix the leak and the electrical issue. He gets the battery replaced (the old one was bad) and has the Advance Auto folks checking the electrical system while I'm going in to get the custom hard pipe hose assembly where the system is leaking. Advance Auto realizes that the alternator is also not producing enough current, and while I'm going in to buy a rebuilt alternator (and a timing belt - while we're at it), he replaces the hose assembly and cleans up some wires that the tie-wraps have rotted away. When I come out, he takes the parts, says he'll be done in 30 minutes. I run to Chick-Fil-A, eat a salad, come back and he's just finishing up. He charges a fair price, I write him a check, and have fixed everything including what may have been broken by the un-named major chain repair shop for $100 less than I would've been charged in the first place. I cannot recommend him enough after this experience. By the way, this was over a year ago, and we've had no major issues with the van since then, so Dan's work held up very well over time.
