Good to see new digs, finally. It's a comfortable, half-sports--half ski apres, set up. Honestly, well thought out for a tourist area. Had a Meatball Grinder for lunch, and it was fine. And, I liked the option for Tim's Jalapeno chips as a side. All the young crew working there on a busy Sat afternoon were great. Wow. What a gem. Came and visited family and worked all day. Looking for something to eat and family said to try Powder Hound. This pizza is amazing! I love wood fired pizza and we had the Garbage Can and Husky Hawaiian. Best pizza I have had I a while. I love Second Ave but this place is completely different. Service was phenomenal. You order everything at the counter which is totally fine. Front of house service was super nice and worked on changing the tv to the game we wanted to watch. Small place but plenty of seating. Outdoor section looks awesome but still a little cold out when we went there. I will be coming back here again very soon! read more

A web search for Margarita pizza came up with this place, and it was good! But we got more than that, with my daughter's Caprese sandwich being the best thing we had, and it came with a surprisingly large side salad that we all got to share. It's a newer facility, and it's nice to see them rebound from the bad fire that destroyed their previous location. It was at the end of the ski season, but it was still pretty crowded when we went on a Sat night. We enjoyed our dinner here. read more

Didn't feel like going out and didn't feel like cooking, so what did I do? Ordered Delicious and Unique pizzas from Powder Hound Pizza - on Superior Street in Sandpoint. We have eaten their pizza at Schweitzer Village and the one in town is a lot closer to home. We ordered the Spicy Thai and the Cuban Pork. The Thai is definitely spicy from the Jalapeños and Siracha but the sweetness from the fresh shredded carrots and the crunchiness from the peanuts is nice delight. The chicken is moist and tender and we loved the Thai Peanut Sauce as the base. The Cuban Pork has braised pork on an Alfredo Sauce and a nice topping of pepperoncinis and drizzled Dijon mustard. We love trying unique pizzas and these definitely hit the spot read more

The Prosciutto pizza is a go -to fave and im always impressed with their on point pick up times. Stopped at the hound for the first time over the summer. Weird that the building is an old bank my parents banked at in my childhood 1970's. Their is seating outside and inside. We sat outside just a fair warning, you may have to fight off flies or bees if you sit outside. We loved our pizzas and good choice of beer and soft drink. Overview: As a vegan, this place has my favorite pizza option. Service is very friendly, but its popular and busy which may make service slow. They are up front when wait times are very long. Ruthy is the best there, but she's the only person there I worked with, and she's still amazing with her friendliness and recommendations. Toppings and price: Unfortunately I have to take one of their specialty pizzas and make some modifications to get what I want because getting a pizza and adding toppings cost more than modifying a specialty pizza. Portion Size: You have to ask for vegan cheese. They put in a hearty amount so be prepared to feel sick if you eat too much. That's sick in the sense, I over ate because it tasted so good. Most large vegan pizzas feed 1 person, this large easily feeds 3 without sides or 4-5 with sides. Cut: I like square cut because I like the center pieces and my wife likes the crust corners and they'll do that if you ask. They cut 2x one direction and 3x the other direction which leaves offer sized pieces in the center and smaller on 2 sides. They need to do a 3x3 cut instead for even slices. Atmosphere: It's casual. Nice. Okay. Nothing fancy. Has outdoor seating but only a view of the road. They offer the game of corn hole which is great if the wait is long. Beer: Last but not least, they alternate beers every couple weeks which is great for people like me who prefer novelty over favorites. I've been here 3x now and took my sister who isn't vegan and loves pizza and she said the non vegan pizza was worth it too. read more

This is our new favorite pizza place. The 45 minute to an hour drive for us to come here is well worth it. I've driven past this place for work the last 2 years and finally checked it out a couple of months ago after my in-laws came to town and wanted to check out sandpoint. We loved the pizza! This weekend after cooling down at the lake at Farragut, we decided to drive up to Powderhound because we were salivating at the thought of it from our past experience. The pizza is phenomenal and did not disappoint! So good we didn't even need any dipping sauces, which we always eat our pizza with ranch. We got our pizza pretty quick. Most pizza places you go to the crust is usually tough and/or burnt but their pizza has the soft chewy crust and it was fantastic. The order process is so nice when you can just go to the counter or window to order or even order using the QR code. We sat on the patio this time and it was perfect. I also really like the chairs they have on the patio, super comfortable that I even looked up getting some for our own patio. This is our new favorite pizza place. It's delicious and they must have seen and were receptive to their low reviews they got a few years ago about their service because their service was great and I have no complaints! Online order system is flawed. Made me re-enter credit card info 6 times because "pickup time changed." Says 1 hour. We show up at 1 hour. They tell us it may be another hour. Ask if I got a text. I didn't see where there system said I would receive a text when it's ready. What does this help me if I live 15 minutes away and don't want a cold pizza? Have to wait in line again, 15 more minutes for a refund. Can't find a way to cancel order online. Cancel order. Receive a text 10 minutes later our order is ready for pickup. Auto text because of cancellation or our pizza was really almost ready? We would have waited. Either way wasted a bunch of our time and energy and ended up empty handed. I wish Second Avenue was open on Sundays because I probably will not order from this place again. Initially tried to order via phone but good luck with that because you can NOT get through to their line, not to order or to cancel. Forget about it. Save yourself some time and energy and eat somewhere else. read more

Got a pizza here for my lunch breaks one day. Flavor was not bad however, the pizza was not cooked through. The bottom of the pizza was for sure browned, but after that, it was raw dough. I am not writing them off. Next time I ask them just to cook it a little bit more. read more

We changed our mind and decided to eat in the restaurant instead of takin it home and was lectured by the owner and treated poorly when we were leaving being asked to take the box out to the dumpster ourselves. I am being extremely generous giving up 3-stars. Definitely has that ski lodge ambiance but the delicious Hound pizza is sadly a thing of yesteryear. Being Chicago born, I was raised on pizza and have enjoyed many, many, many pies from amazing to just so-so. It was a really long wait for the Hound to get rebuilt after the devastating fire and sadly this new version is a so-so version of the old one. My wife and I are very dissatisfied with the service we received (or lack thereof) at this establishment. We paid for our order and sat at a table and waited over an hour and I then took my table number up to the kitchen staff and asked if they had forgotten about us. They said they had messed up the pizza and then there was a shift change and then they forgot all about the order. Mind you, these are the same employees that were working the kitchen when we had arrived. The employee was very unapologetic and didn't seem to care in the slightest so we got a refund and left the establishment. We will never be back to this place and I hope this review can provide valuable information to future consumers. read more
