If you want to wait an hour for pizza, come to Bab's. We were the first customers of the day, and the workers apologized since the ovens weren't heated up. The ovens looked old and didn't seem to work well. We ordered a pizza with chicken and then they came back saying they didn't have chicken. Really? So, we had to change what pizza we ordered. Arrived at 11:15 yesterday, ordered a pizza and garlic knots. Just as our food arrived, local HS got out for lunch break. You would think chaos, but the staff of two handled each student professionally. Food wise, our pie was very good and the garlic knots were great! Prices are lower than most and a superb value. My family of 13 and I ordered pizza on our first night and ordering online was really simple. We got 3 XL pizza and 2 medium (one gluten free). I picked up the pizza order and there were two people working; the teenage boy was not that professional but the woman working was on top of everything. Our pizzas were done and ready at our pickup time (delivery wasn't available) and the slices are really big! The pizza was pretty good between the cheese, gf veggie, and bbq chicken. Once again I have to amend my original review. I ordered a medium Little Italy and I could almost count the number of toppings with one hand: pathetic. We have been coming here for almost 4 years. When we first moved to the area, we were excited to find a pizza place that was as close to NY style pizza as we could find in north Idaho. The pizza was good! Sadly, the wait time and the quality of the food have gone seriously downhill in the last year. The last 3 times we have ordered from here our food was just going in the oven when we arrived to pick it up at the time we were told it would be ready, which was over an hour after we ordered, the crusts were undercooked and the pizzas quality was way down. Between that and the price increase, I am sad to say that we will no longer be eating here and no longer recommend it. read more

I cant give babs a bad review pizza is too good. But recently I've been calling around 8pm to be told they are closed. 8:15pm on a Saturday im told they close at 8 on Saturday when i know good and well they close at 9. Same thing happened a few weeks earlier when i called an hour and half before close the dude told my dad that they weren't taking anymore orders. I called back after my dad and managed to negotiate a calzone to be cooked. Its annoying having staff not willing to cook because they want to limit work near closing. read more

This place is fantastic! We had decided to spend the day swimming and relaxing at City Beach, just a few minutes drive away, but didn't bring food as we were figuring on the abundance of restaurants in and around downtown Sandpoint. Then our kiddo zeroed in on pizza. Up to now, we'd really only gone to Second Avenue Pizza (also really good, but an entirely different animal where their pizza is concerned), and Second Ave is closed on Mondays, which this just happened to be. We found Bab's via Yelp pretty much right away and decided to give it a try. Boy, am I glad we did! Described as NYC style pizza, it is very much that: Enormous, thin crust slices with what appears to be homemade sauce, and a nice variety of toppings. We did the Meat Lovers with added mushrooms and black olives (similar to the Yuppie, which would also include bell pepper and red onion, which neither my wife nor I are big on) and a small cheese pizza for our son. The pizza was huge. Enormous. I was able to eat about a slice and a half before I considered calling an ambulance to get me off the beach. We took it to go and ate it right there by the water. The drive was short enough, it was still fresh and hot by the time I walked it over to our spot in the shade. While the pizza definitely is what I would describe as NYC style, it is also very similar to traditional pizza as one would find it in Italy. The dough doesn't seem to be salted--typical of Italian pizzas--and the fire blackening around the rim of the crust was *chef's kiss* superb. Prices weren't exactly cheap, but not exactly terrible. An extra large and a small, with tip and a bottle of Coke came out to right around $50, and there was enough pizza left over for dinner that night, lunch the next day and then some. The restaurant atmosphere was very nice and inviting, as was the outdoor seating (apart from the hot weather). The two young people running the place when I went in were very pleasant, professional and attentive. We will definitely be back! read more

We make it a point to visit local pizza places while traveling, especially if they have calzones on the menu. Bab's did not disappoint. Their dough was great, soft crust, good flavor, and cooked to perfection. The calzone was great, especially since you get the option of 4 toppings. This seems like a secret because you can't see it from the street. So if we had not been looking on the internet for pizza we would have missed out. We were greeted as we entered and well taken care of while we were there. We ordered an extra large pepperoni and a medium Bohemian, which was the special . It was delicious with artichoke hearts, garlic and sundried tomatoes. We had one little issue which was that when the pizza's arrived our medium was an extra large, oops. We had gone for pizza to try to feed our clan of 5 that day for less then a sit down meal restaurant. Okay, I'll admit it: I'm a pizza snob. If Bab's were located in the City (and I don't mean Chicago), I'd pass it by. But since it's in Idaho and since the pies are huge and always hot, the sauce is tangy and not sugary, the crust is chewy but not gluey and usually delicious, and they're generous with toppings (the Yuppie pie is particularly tasty), I have to admit there's not much not to like about this place. I just can't give it five stars. I'm really, really sorry. But Bab's makes good pizza, probably the best in town, and the people who work there are awesome, and it's a good value. So... You know what? Forget it. It's not New York, and that's okay. The fact that Sandpoint isn't New York is, after all, exactly why we moved here. Five stars it is. read more

This was a pleasant surprise. A small intimate local place with a lot of specialty pizzas that were worth noting. 1st let me say that we were 3 families at a vacation rental from Connecticut and California, 13 people in total, so we called ahead to make sure they could accommodate us. And when we arrived, they had tables pushed together with exactly 13 chairs waiting for us. It's not huge in ambiance, small but tastefully decorated with historic New York Yankees pictures of Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, etc. The service was terrific with Karen (a friend of Babs) doing everything she could to make sure we were feeling welcome and satisfied. True small town hospitality at its best. Beer is in the cooler past the imaginary line where you are supposed to go, the opener is behind the cash register, help yourself and we will figure it out later. Karen was a terrific hostess, friendly and fun and made us all feel comfortable. The pizza was terrific. We started with a Bin of salad, large enough to serve all 13 of us. Dressing was served family style in bowls. It was terrific, fun and effective. Then we moved onto three orders of cheesy garlic knots. It was a perfect amount but I could have made a meal out of these alone. We ordered 4 pizzas. 3 of them were specialty pizzas off of the menu, the Greek, the balsamic bomb and the yuppie and had to take plenty home. We all agreed they were terrific, but I have to say my favorite was the yuppie. One of our group (a smarty pants college student) realized that all we had to do was eat 2.5 slices each and that we didn't finish meant that some were not pulling their weight. We rolled through town and ordered via phone with about 30 minutes before closing for take-out. We arrived 30 minutes later as advised by the employee who took our order, and upon arrival we saw 2 employees sitting outside eating dinner and they immediately told me that they were closed. I told them I had an order for takeout and the gentleman who took my order informed me that he forgot. The co-worker said that they could make it, but when I inquired how long it would take, she hesitated and answered with, "Well, the oven is off, so...". We left to find something quicker than that.
