Forge lunch $ dinner

The chicken fried steak is delicious!!! The bartenders know how to make the perfect martini!!!

The Forge, a hidden gem of a restaurant situated in Ben Wheeler Texas serves the best damn burger ever! Sourced from local beef, it's wonderfully seasoned and perfectly cooked, with a hand-shaped patty that looks and tastes like the Real Deal! There are quite a number of other delicious dishes on the menu; try 'em all, but make SURE you sample their burgers ASAP :-)

Fish and chips.

Food, service and ambiance is all great!!! We've loved every meal. It's a relaxing experience especially sitting outside.

Cat coffee cup!

Very cool spot! Service was very good. Stopped for the first time with my wife. My food was perfect and awesome! I had the Hippy Omelette and the fried potatoes were amazing! My wife loves Eggs Benedict and she didn't care for hers. She thought the sauce was sour but the waitress said that was the way they made it. My wife didn't eat hers. The waitress asked if she wanted something else (which she didn't) but that was good. I'd have to agree with my wife. I tasted the Hollandaise Sauce as well and it was not good. So to sum it up great experience except for that!

Local joint with a cool country vibe. Sampled the 1/2 lb burger, eggs Benedict and pancake. All were great tasting. Portions were more than adequate. Well worth the drive and would come back for sure.

Wow we were in town visiting for trade days and thought we would drive to Tyler and ended up finding this place in Ben Wheeler. Our server Brittany was super nice and checked on us frequently even with a busy restaurant! I had the fettuccine Alfredo that is to die for! We will definitely come back and strongly recommend coming here!

If you ask people in the area where to go for dinner, they all reply, The Forge. I came in a bit early for dinner, on a Sunday and was told to take a seat wherever. The service was quick and friendly. I ordered the Anvil. The description says it is a smoked tenderloin with caramelized onions, pepperjack, and creole mustard. The sandwich I got was pretty good, but it didn't really match up to the description. First off, it didn't have any mustard, which I asked the waitress for. She brought it to me and said the sandwich didn't look like it was supposed to. She offered to take it back, but as I had eaten a few bites and it was pretty good I declined. The mustard did give it more flavor. It definitely didn't taste smoked, and it wasn't as tender as I would expect a tenderloin. The cheese was pretty nonexistent but there were onions. It was an OK sandwich. The homemade chips were good and the restaurant was cute. They had a really nice patio, but it was just too dang hot to enjoy.

This place has lost its energy. Food is okay. The regulars don't care for "outsiders".

Our app came quickly but the drinks and food came so slowly. Also between us asking for waters while we look at the cocktail menu was a lot of elapsed time. Food: the steak frites were very salty (and I love salt) but definitely the best meal ordered. The "Mac attack" tasted cheeseless -- literally tasted like water. The chicken Alfredo was "mid" but also a super tiny portion. Both pastas looked like kids meals. I guess they were priced appropriately at least. Not pictured was the Donny burger -- described as "eh it was fine". All left more to be desired. We really wanted to try the cinnamon cake but decided against since service was sooooo slow. The peach tea was bad. The oasis marg was okay. When we asked for wine, we were told "I don't know what we have let me show you" and were shown the screen that listed: white, red, rose, and sparkling. The wine should be listed on the menu with the beer and the cocktails. I'd maybe come again to sit at the bar and have a drink or two if there's live music, but otherwise, this is skippable for a full meal service.

I went out with 10 other people in the group to celebrate my fiancée's grandmother's 84th Birthday…read more It has been 3 years since I went to the old Redneck cafe before it burned down... Here's what I ordered; chicken strips, baby carrots, steamed broccolis, and some home-cut French fries to replace the standard-issue salad it comes with on the menu. The order came with the ranch dressing for the broccolis and the gravy for the chicken tenders. So those are pluses for my order. Here's where it goes down south; The chicken tenders tasted okay, a bit dry and it was in the same fryer as the catfish with the cornmeal batter. I'd suggest using a different fryer for the chicken ONLY. The saving grace is the gravy which tasted quite good with a good note of black pepper on it! The baby carrots were a bit of a turnoff for me! It's pretty soft, almost to the point of being mushy, and tasted a bit spoiled! That is NOT what I want on my carrots! I wanted freshly cooked and buttery baby carrots, not this mushy junk... The broccolis were steamed okay. It wasn't fork-tender, but it wasn't crunchy at all. Personally, I'd prefer it freshly steamed until fork-tender. That is my kind of steamed broccolis! Another saving grace is the ranch dressing which tasted quite good and paired will with the broccolis! The main, and INFURIATING, part is when they forgot my home-cut French fries as a replacement for my salad!!! I was so upset that I didn't even want the fries when asked. I said to let them keep the fries, because I don't care and wanted them to learn the lesson on what the customers ACTUALLY ordered. I was waiting the WHOLE TIME on my fries while eating my dinner to the point when I was just "FORGET IT! Keep the da&n fries!" The man wearing jeans, a light red motorcycle shirt, glasses on, and a light grey beret cap, he brought out my order and did NOT bring out my fries! I fully expect the food to be better and taste the same as the old Redneck Cafe. Also I expect the bar/grill to hire more servers, because that place was running on two of them the whole time I was there!

Raw catfish delivered to my table twice after being taken back, made me sick. Would return for…read moredrinks but never the fish.
