    Pepper Bite Ranch Burger
    Kris S.

We found this gem while on a pamper day with my daughter. The staff were wonderful from beginning to end. Junior was our server and he was knowledgeable about the selections, explained the restaurant extra features and made sure all our questions were answered. They have a Bean Bar (unique to us!) and a Blue Bell Ice Cream bar, that are both complimentary with your meal. We had chips, salsa and queso to start. My meal was the Pepper Bite Ranch Burger and it was amazing. The burger was epic and the toppings gave it a perfect bite. My daughter had Fried Critters (cute name) and said they were good. All for a great price! We've made plans to return, the littles are excited about free ice cream!

Chicken tenders (I extra peppered my gravy)

What can be said?!? Amazing! The atmosphere is fun and friendly. Free beans and bluebell icecream with every meal. The beans are awesome! A bowl of those with cornbread is what I should have ordered. Chicken fried steak and chicken tenders were perfection! Portions are awesome, food is amazing, and this hidden gem is worth finding! Loved all of it! Daniel, our waiter was so friendly! This is a definite must try!!

Let's see, free beans (2 different kinds/flavors) before your meal, then Blue Bell ice cream afterwards! Yes, FREE Heck that's a meal in itself!! Friendly folks and a Daniel Boone atmosphere that you will surely like. The menu has something for everyone. From steaks to kids meals and everything in between. I went with the hamburger steak with a baked potato and green garden salad. The steak had mushrooms and grilled onions with brown gravy. It was all very good. The portions were great, you'll have to try hard to finish it all. Daniel Boone's has been around for a while in Tyler and you can see why once you go. Go get Full

The food and staff were amazing we ate here twice! The first time I got the chicken fried chicken and the second time I got the patty melt. Both were so good! And the free ice cream is the best part. Staff were very friendly.

Not sure what happened to their chicken strips. Last time my son ordered them and they were HUGE and crispy hand battered. I ordered the two piece and they were the sizes of my finger, not crispy and kinda mushy. Disappointed with the food, but thrilled to get together with my friends there. Plus my friend brought a coconut cream cheese pound cake!

(went on Feb. 25)…read more It's rare to find a restaurant that serves the entire fish, as seen here. But in Chinese restaurants, that's the norm! (There, they also steam the fish rather than fry it; but hey, beggars can't be choosers!) I knew this existed from other people's pics. But on the menu, I couldn't figure out which item it was. I asked the waiter, he pointed it out, but I forgot what he said. Lol. I think it's tilapia. It was $15 before tax, tip. Just what I wanted!

(NYC). Introducing Inka's. Peruvian meets Colombian cuisine. I am part Colombian so Colombian cuisine is something I am very familiar with, Peruvian not so much. The number one staple in Colombian food is going to be the dish called "Bandeja Paisa" which contains pork, beef, sausage, sweet plantain, egg, avocado, rice and beans. This is what caught my eye because it is what I am most familiar with. I also ordered a mango milkshake. This was not my first time being here at this establishment. The place stays pretty empty and it is quite unfortunate because the quality of food, the taste and the attentive to detail from the staff is above and beyond. Inside, the place is rather big and it looks like they have live music at times. I just wish them to a lot more busier because this is the closest thing I have to Colombian food. My bandeja paisa elevated me straight to Colombia where the taste from the pork was out of this world it was so crunchy yet so soft, the beans were amazing as well as the beef. Let me not forget the mango milkshake which was delicious. I need everyone to saturate this establishment and support this business because these flavors are international but teleported locally to serve good cuisine.

You come back to a place like Happy's, and it tastes like a Michelin Star establishment compared to the seafood up in Lubbock. Where is that fish from? The ponds? Ain't no way. Happy's is a staple of Tyler. Owned by the same team as Mercados and Posados, Happy's is their only seafood establishment, and it is a fine piece of art. Inside, there's plenty of lamps and fish hanging on the walls and decor that feels strongly inspired by Mardi Gras. The truest display of their beauty is a chandelier made of Corona bottles. I was meeting my aunt and uncle for lunch with my girlfriend, and my uncle knows this place up and down. You could tell it's one of his favorite spots in Tyler by how he lit up when I suggested it as the place we go to lunch together while I was visiting. We used to go quite a bit when I was still living in Tyler, and he still knows the name of the waitresses and they love him back. I went for the Catfish Po Boy because man did it sound fire. I got it with a side of fries and fried okra. The okra was great and the fries were super crispy. The Po Boy itself was the star of the show. I unwrapped it and destroyed the entire thing. The catfish side was super crispy and delicious and had a fantastic flavor. It tasted fresh and I knew it was really special. My girlfriend got the gumbo and thought it was incredible as well along with eating half of my fried okra. Happy's might have some of the best seafood in Tyler. It's a great establishment, and I was proud to be able to show it to my visiting girlfriend as the pride and joy of some of the food Tyler has to offer. RIYL: Something fishy

There's plenty of nice local establishments, but some can be pricey and some are just more casual than you want. Scott Williams has perfected the restaurants of Tyler that are balanced between affordable and still quite nice. He got his toes in the water with FDs, before expanding into Javi's, Twelve, and now the fanciest of them all in III Palms. I thought of all those options, Twelve would be the most unique and tasty for my girlfriend and I. We went in an hour before they closed on a Sunday and were seated immediately. We weren't too hungry so we didn't expect to be there past their closing time, and we were ready to go. Our waiter was quick and attentive, bringing us water and helping us decide on drinks from the bar and our order. He also showed us their insane over-the-top whiskey menu. If you like whiskey, give Twelve a shot I guess. To order, I just got their 'Osaka Style' Pressed Roll while my girlfriend got a Sushi Bowl Salad. We got Sweet Potato Fries to share. As for drinks, I started with their Monkey See, Monkey Do, an impressive and firm beverage, while my girlfriend ordered their Destin Dream, a fun Pina Colada-like drink. It wasn't long before our food came out. The sushi was beautifully plated with some wasabi and pickled ginger on the side. I destroyed all the rolls. They were all very fresh and very high quality, which was remarkable for their $13.50 price tag. My girlfriend's sushi bowl looked insane. She ate most of it, but I filled the gaps and devoured the rest of it. The sweet potato fries were crispy and heavenly like all sweet potato fries usually are. I felt adventurous and I got a second drink of their Rose Garden, which was simple but flavorful. Compared to FDs, the menu might be a little more sea-inspired and more adventurous, but I think it leads to better, more unique food, especially with offerings like Oyster Rockefeller and a sushi bar. I also know Twelve does a great brunch as well, so keep that on your radar. Ultimately, as the bill came, the price was very manageable even with the alcohol. It's nice that you don't fully have to break the bank to have a nice meal in Tyler thanks to places like Twelve. I rate it a 12/10. Get it? hahahaha... RIYL: A slightly adventurous, but affordable night out.

Jucy's Hamburgers got their start in Longview and eventually came to Tyler. The 5th Street location is the OG of Tyler and has been slinging burgers for as long as I can remember. I have quite a few memories of their location on Old Jacksonville, but upon revisiting Tyler, I had to stop at the 5th Street location. Upon walking in, it has been remodeled quite a bit making it a little more modern and similar in style to the other locations in Tyler. You order at the counter where you can get your burgers, sides, and more before getting a buzzer for when your food is ready. As they cook your burger (or whatever you ordered), you are free to get your free cup of their incredible beans. I took a picture of my girlfriend with her beans to send to my parents, that's how culturally important it is to us. That's course one. 10 minutes later, your buzzer rings and you're given a tray with a glorious burger and whatever delectable sides you decided to grab. Their onion rings are always a must. This time around, at the suggestion of my girlfriend, I also got an order of their Fried Green Tomatoes. Something I have never ordered before, but really enjoyed. It's greasy, it's deep fried, and it's incredible. The burger is as good as I remember. That's course two. As you sit there, trying to decide if housing that burger and cruising through all those onion rings was a good idea, you decide to get another cup of beans for dessert. The bacon inside them is subtle but always appreciated. They have a little heat and a little sweetness. They're a true delight and one of the best individual items you can get at any establishment in East Texas. That's course three. The 5th Street location is still as good as ever. There is just a consistent quality about their food that other places in Tyler lack.
