We refer to this place as the "inconvenience Cafe", because the staff seems inconvenienced by customers. It was as if they were paid to sit around and bullshit, and taking orders was getting in the way of that. And this wasn't during rush hour, there were only 3 other customers and they already had drinks. We ordered a fruit salad, coffee, and beer. Not too hard of an order....at least it shouldn't have been. The waitress was visibly annoyed that she would have to defrost frozen fruit, and possibly cut a melon. The Freight House is my go to cafe for the best coffee in town and for delicious--and healthy--breakfast and lunch. I'm not vegan, but the vegan food here is outrageous. I can grab a salad from the fridge if I'm in a rush or I can sit with my laptop for hours. It's truly an old school neighborhood place where you feel welcome whether it's your first visit or you're a regular. There's a deck out back when the weather is nice and there's great music on Saturday nights. I'm grateful we have such a great place in our town. read more

There is local artwork on the walls, all of the food and drink is locally sourced and supremely wonderful. It's the best coffee I have had around and their food is absolutely amazing. I absolutely love this place. It's s hidden gem. The food is delicious. It's all organic and their home made ketchup is spectacular. They have a delicious coffee selection in which you can take it to go or stay and relax and enjoy the quaint atmosphere. During the warmer months you can eat indoors or outdoors. Ive been a Yelp employee for the last year so this is my first review since leaving the company. Fantastic little cafe, amazing food, sweet people working there. We had some beautiful weather so we sat on the patio and it was beautiful! Theres even bowls for dogs so thats always a plus! Only recommendation is that now that its spring, they should trim the tree branches over looking the patio, they go over the porch and that can lead to leaves falling into coffee, bugs etc. there were none when i was there, it was absolutely beautiful! Just think if they trimmed back the branches and took care of some of the landscaping around the building, its easily one of the best brunch places around and ive lived around here for 25 years, and after working at Yelp ive seen my fair share of brunch houses. My fiance and I are moving to Mahopac in two weeks so we spent today exploring some of the area. Two coffee addicts seeing a big sign that says "Voted best coffee in Putnam County" thats right down the street from our new house, we of course pulled right in. We were given a friendly greeting right upon entering and the woman behind the counter, who I believe is the owner, was so genuinely warm and welcoming. They have many unique and seasonal flavors to choose from but for our first time we opted for basic iced coffees and a latte. I love that they use coffee ice cubes to avoid it getting watered down. Freight House has an adorable small town feel and right after walking out we agreed this would be our new go-to morning spot - the good vibes from this place gave us a positive taste in our mouths (pun intended) about our move to our new town :) Looking forward to trying all the different coffees and food choices soon! read more

Beware of unmarked items. Paid over $6.50 for a medium latte (with tax). That is just insane! The prices weren't marked on the board or in the menu, but would not expect to pay that much for an "okay" latte. I thought Starbucks was expensive at just over $4, until I came here.....
