Service was quick, popped in on my lunch break right before heading back to work. The crepes in the pictures looked sooooo yummy & the smell of the warm crepes being made makes your mouth water. They got me! I ordered a simple butter & cinnamon sugar crepe. It came out to almost $11. Which is pricey but it's Irvine Spectrum so it's in the "lower end" of painful price range. I didn't open the container until I got back to work & I was stoked to take my break to dig into my warm, sweet & buttery crepes...just like the pictures. No, not quite. My crepe was naked, she had been robbed. No whip cream, no drizzle of chocolate, nada. She had a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar. I think it wouldn't have been so sad had I lowered my expectations & not expected to see the pictured crepe, I guess. My mistake. I didn't think toppings were extra...? Idk. Please beware. I came tonight around 9:30pm. There were two lady's in the back chit chatting and had no clue I was waiting in the front for about 15 minutes. Then when one of them noticed me she took my order and I put "No Tip" and she seemed bothered because of that. Like first of all we are already starting on bad service. When I asked her if I can get one of the crepes to go she said "it's already in a box". I was waiting outside for my crepes and they never once called my order out or even let me know my order was done. My order was just placed on the front desk. There was a young man that walked in with some boys and left because they saw no one in the front. Such horrible customer service but the worst part of it all was finding this piece of trash in our crepe. At this point we are beyond disgusted. Please be careful when you eat here. read more

We were after the dessert. THE FOOD. - Caramel Banana Crêpe. Thin, delicate pancake with ribbons of caramel, globs of whipped cream, banana slices, and almonds sprinkled throughout. Flavor, for the most part, was good, but the unripe banana slices brought down the sweetness and added a chalkiness that made my mouth feel dry. In addition, the almonds leaned more soft & chewy rather than crunchy. - Almond Croissant. Flaky, buttery, and filled with a sweet almond center. On top, sliced almonds and a delicate sweet glaze add textural contrast to this croissant. THE PARKING. For the smoothest arrival, skip circling the lot and head straight to the theater parking structure. It's closest to the cafe and parking there is free. THE VERDICT. A pleasant lineup of sweet treats worth coming back for, but I'd probably try a different crepe next time. read more

Cute place! To be fair I haven't tried the gelato or the sandwiches but I did the chicken pesto crepe, and honestly it was pretty mid. There wasn't a lot of pesto, and the chicken tasted like it had just come out of the freezer. I did appreciate that it was fresh tomato and spinach but I just think for $15 the chicken shouldn't taste like freezer food. May come back to try a veggie crepe but not super impressed read more

A very nice little shop with a variety of items from ice cream, baked goods, drinks, cafe food and crepes. They had some beignets that immediately got my attention so i tried their Trio which is Chocolate, Nutella and White Chocolate. It was good but slightly on the dry side but I believe if I had it fresh it may have been better. You can't come to a French place like this and not try a Crepe. Their A La Folie is the classic dessert crepe with Nutella, banana and strawberry. This was made fresh to order and was the best item in my opinion. As for the drink their Pistachio Matcha Latte sounded nice to go with everything. While things were good I believe if things were served in plates and nicer cups there would be more people sitting and trying this place out. I stopped by in the morning for breakfast during the holiday weekend. I was pleasantly surprised! I ordered a guava cream cheese danish which was sweet and flaky with just the right amount of cream and jam in the middle. I also ordered a chicken pesto crepe and banana caramel crepe to share with the family. We really loved the chicken pesto crepe! It had a nice crispy finish and the flavor of the pesto was great! The banana dessert crepe was sweet and fresh. We preferred the crispy finish on the savory crepe but both were tasty. The servers come out to where you are sitting which is a very nice touch and they are very kind! They do not have any dine in seating inside due to the size of the bakery but there are plenty of outdoor seating areas nearby. Overall I liked the place and I would definitely come back! read more

He didn't greet us or thank us for our purchase. Maybe he was having a bad day but still you should have good customer service. I can be a stern critic but I may have just gotten this place on a good day. My sister and I came to pick up macarons before leaving back to her place in Tustin this past weekend and it looked really cute though was relatively empty despite it being a very busy weekend which might be all direct correlation to the reviews currently written. We got a box of 6 of Coffee, Lavender, Rose, Tiramisu, Biscoff & Raspberry. My ratings for them are as follows: Coffee: 2/5 - No coffee flavor at all; Just tasted like sweet cream but texture was nice Lavender: 2.5/5 - Wish the lavender flavor was more subtle; texture was thicker but similar to above Rose: 3.5/5 - Decent rose flavor but also overpowering like the lavender Tiramisu: 3.5/5 - Tasted just like the coffee one but the sweet cream flavor makes more sense for this type of macaron; No coffee flavor was present Biscoff: 5/5 - Amazing and would order a box of just 6 of these next time Raspberry: 5/5 - Also amazing and would order another half dozen of these We don't ever plan on getting food here and it seems a lot of poor reviews came from this but can vouch for some of the macarons above as we would definitely come back for these. read more

I was on my way out of Spectrum when this store caught my eye as my girlfriend and I just finished eating dinner nearby and were craving something sweet. It's right next to the parking structure which was convenient so we decided to check it out since it looked like it was relatively busy in there. I was really surprised how quickly they got the line moving as I thought we'd have to wait for a bit but they were super fast. I got the hazelnut gelato which is my go to for most gelato stores and I have to say theirs is really special. I write the bimonthly bulletin for a local association of French-speaking expats, so when I saw there was FINALLY something in the Spectrum that might be our thing, I had to give it a try, which I did for lunch on Black Friday. I ordered the chicken Dijon crêpe, and was pleasantly surprised when it turned to be " au sarrasin " (buckwheat), rather than the same wheat-based crêpe I'd expect for sweet ones. The filling was surprisingly generous -- this was not inexpensive at $14, but an above-average value for Irvine, and included a bag of chips, also appreciated. I have a harder time recommending the pastries. The macarons at $3.59 apiece are priced in Pierre Hermé territory (the best in the world), but I think this is more reflective of sky-high Irvine rents than actually being world-class like that. The eclairs look as homey as mine, not the slick professional ones you get at Moulin for the same money. I did not order any pastries, but the visual evaluation combined with the prices dissuaded me. Considering it was Black Friday, the service speed, about 10 minutes from order to receipt, was quite acceptable. Seating is pretty much all outdoors, in a pleasant courtyard. All told, The French Avenue is a welcome change from the dreary sameness of so much at the Spectrum, and the crêpes are a solid value. It feels like they have ambitions of being more than they are -- the kitchen is ENORMOUS and seems capable of producing a greater variety of pastries than what I saw on display. I'd encourage that, and wish them well -- I'll certainly be back for more crêpes! read more

I came here today for the first and last! I LOVE crepes and a good latte anytime, but this was certainly not the place for good crepes or latte made correctly. I spent a total of $25.42 on a crepe that was served in a box with chicken very dry and rubbery, it was so hard to eat with the plastic silverware I was given and the knife that split and a latte made wrong. My Latte, which I requested from the gal at the register, who had no personality, didn't talk or apparently listen, and was almost rude in her demeanor towards me, I told her I wanted a latte that was not sweet and not to be made with a vanilla milk. After waiting 15 minutes I get the latte made with vanilla milk, that was so lousy, I drank my water bottle with the 1/2 of the crepe I ate and threw the latte with the rest of the crepe in the garbage. This $25.42 was the biggest waste of my money in a restaurant I could ever remember! The sandwich my friend got, she barely touched, and said, I could make this at home much better than this. It was a simple vegetarian sandwich and she said the same thing, "I would never come back here, I don't know how they stay in business, what a wasted expensive lunch this was!!!" I had just had crepes in Orange on Glassell last week, it was delicious, I was craving crepes, but this was nothing like "Euro Caffe." read more

I got a turkey club ($15) it was literally one(!) slice of turkey meat, one limp piece of lettuce, the hardest unripe avocado that was the size of a quarter between 2 slices of white bread. Very good place to get your caffeine fix. I heard this place was under new management and wanted to give it a try. I got both the coffee latte and the matcha latte for me and my wife and they both had the right amount of caffeine. We also got the matcha cheesecake and creme brule crepe cone. The cheesecake was light and not overly sweet. The crepe cone was filled to the brim with custard, which I am all for, and the crackle creme brule top gave it a nice crunch.
