    BBQ Chicken Flat Bread
    Sandy N.

While Sourdough & Co. is renowned for their freshly baked, warm sourdough bread and their deli style sandwiches, I wasn't that impressed during my recent lunch stop. Sourdough & Co. is located in the Cypress Village shopping center (in Irvine) ~ on the corner of Jeffrey & Trabuco Rd, near Mokkoji and Starbucks. It adopted the coveted corner lot spot of the plaza where Baskin Robbin's and Cauldron ice cream use to be. The eatery has limited seating indoors and some community outdoor patio seating. The setup is very Subway-ish, minimal in decor. Aside from the big American flag displayed proudly as you walk in, the inside is very unimpressionable. The hubs and I were not greeted or even acknowledged by staff upon arrival, even though there were 2 workers behind the counter. There literally was just 3 other pairs of people within the store besides us and only one of which was awaiting their food order. We eventually figured out on our own to order from the kiosk. I ended up ordering the BBQ chicken flat bread ($12.99) ~ which had seasoned chicken, a creamy white sauce, a rich blend of cheeses, barbeque sauce, onions and cilantro. A bit small for the price point, but still enough portion for me, as I tend to eat lighter for lunch. The dough felt a lil undercooked and I wished the overall meal was a bit crispier. It was ok, IMO. I also ordered a cup of the clam chowder, which again was a bit disappointing. It lacked the hearty, flavorful clams and just seemed to be filled with potatoes. Nothing too memorable. Pass for $7.99. My hubs ordered the 8" cholula chicken specialty sandwich ($16.99), which was prepared hot with carved chicken marinated in green chili cholula & jalapeno ranch dressing. house spread, lettuce, tomato, crisp jalapeno, and pepper jack cheese. He also said it was ok, just barely a step up from Subway. We both agreed that the sourdough bread was good, but it didn't wow us. All in all, we likely won't be back. But we are always willing to try a place once.

This is a great place if you're craving a sandwich or want a quick bite. I've been back multiple times for their Cranberry Turkey Sandwich, which seems to be a holiday special (I hope it stays around). I love how crispy the outside of the bread is and the cranberry is not too overpowering. I've tried a couple of their soups too and those are tasty as well. The service depends a bit when you go and how busy it gets, but for the most part the staff are friendly and quick. If you're looking to dine-in, there are seating indoors and some options outdoors too.

Food here was great! The flavors were strong without being too overpowering, and the bread was nice and crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. Some sourdough breads you get may be a bit too hard but this was a great consistency! I got the French dip sandwich 6", and the Barbecue chicken flatbread. The French dip had a good amount of beef and the au jus dip was not too salty! The flatbread was great as well, not too cheesy and had a great flavor! It did take about 20 mins to get my 2 orders, so expect some wait especially when it gets busy. The food is also on the pricier side. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the inside was kept clean. I'll probably come back and try their clam chowder and other menu items as they do look pretty good as well!

Choco chip cookie = delicious, can't go wrong with this one

4" Italian sandwich for $9.99: 4/5. Nice meal with the sharp-tasting proteins and fresh sourdough bread. Kinda funny how everything slid out from between the bread after each bite, but I guess that's part of the experience. The sandwich came with a pickle spear (yes!!) and two thin slices of bread. Small Signature Mac & Cheese for $7.99: 3/5. The roux and pasta looked great, but this unfortunately wasn't strongly cheesy enough for me. Too pricey for the bland taste and the small portion (in a tiny cup!). Chocolate Chip Cookie for $3.49: 5/5. I enjoyed the texture and the many chocolate chips. Super good heated up, too. I tried my friend's flatbread, and it tasted amazing! Cheesy and not too doughy, with a good spread of meat. I'll try a flatbread the next time I visit. Interior had a simple, deli-shop atmosphere. Indoor and outdoor seating were available. Staff were friendly and accommodating. The place the bustling on a sweltering hot Saturday afternoon, but we luckily we were able to grab a table inside the shop.

So unprofessional. The girl taking my order was picking her zit and then used same hands to make sandwich. Gross. Then she was making someone's sandwich and messed up with sauce and just transferred the meat with the wrong sauce to a new bread. Sandwich was also wrong!!! No onion

Close up of their sourdough bread (I bought a baguette to slice/enjoy at home) DELICIOUS!!!

So I normally avoid chain sandwich shops because I think the bread is yucky (Subway, Quiznos, etc.) BUT after trying Sourdough & Co I am now a huge fan because their bread is delicious! Their sourdough bread is freshly baked into baguettes and they are delicious! In addition to the sandwiches, you can also get a bread bowl (yum!) or baguettes to take home or even to 'take and bake' at home. Their sourdough also really tastes like sourdough since it's slightly tart the way a sourdough should be and it's super soft/fluffy on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside - the bread is perfection! They also have a fun variety of sandwiches! My favorites are the French Dip, the Caprese, the Turkey Pesto and also you can build your own. The service at the Jeffrey location was outstanding! A man named Lucky was especially helpful! Be sure to try their flatbreads and fresh baked cookies too but the bread for sure is the star! Best sandwich shop in the area!! They also have a Huntington Beach location as well.

I came here on a weekday for dinner and let I'm not even a sourdough person but this place totally changed my mind. I got the bread bowl and the tuna salad both with their sourdough bread and wow it was so good. The bread bowl even comes with this garlic bread top that's extra crunchy and super yummy. They've got indoor and outdoor seating so you can chill wherever and the staff is super nice. My food came out fast and everything was fresh and tasty.

New England Clam Chowder is delicious

The place was open after New years and I am so happy because I was starving for something afternoon hangover. I got a fast service and got myself an new England clam chowder bread bowl. I was delighted and grateful for this warmth of bread and soup in one. The place is big and chill for after holiday hang out. I will be back for more.

I tried this new place and it ended up being a great choice. The staff were friendly and made the whole experience easy from the start. I ordered the broccoli cheddar soup and it was genuinely good. I left with no complaints and I would definitely go back.

Remember Boudin before thry weny downhill? This is it!! Every ingredient they use is fresh and balanced, even the sauce. Its a bit pricey but you should treat yourself once in a while.

The staff were very nice and I did like the bread. The flavor on the smoked brisket sandwich was tasty as well. The cookie was good! Unfortunately the sandwiches were pretty small and don't look like the menu pictures at all. The caprese had barely any mozzarella and didn't have much flavor and just looked so small and thin with not much inside the sandwich, For about $20/sandwich (incl tip) I was still hungry at the end of my meal. I even ordered the 8" size. If the price was $10-$12 then I'd prob come back but at the current price it's hard to justify. You can see the difference between the menu pictures and the actual sandwich received.

Excellent sandwich spot in Irvine. I've eaten at the Sourdough & Co in San Marcos and am happy that there is now one in Orange County. The sandwiches we had at this new Irvine location were very good. The employees were friendly and the restaurant itself was clean. I know that some have complained about the pricing, but they are on par with other sandwiches places in that category. Sandwich & Co is an easy recommendation!

It was around $19 and it was OK but the chicken was super salty! I also got a side of duck bone borth 16 ounces that was around $10 and it was bland and also too salty. I was contemplating adding hot water to dilute the salt but then it would be more bland. I have to say it was a bit disappointing experience for me as I read all the reviews before coming here. The restaurant was already quite busy, with the indoor dining area nearly full and only a few outdoor tables still available. There were three parties ahead of us in line to order, but fortunately the line moved quickly. By the time we finished ordering, we were lucky enough to find a comfortable indoor booth. BlueBerry Social has a modern café atmosphere with a clean, bright, and welcoming interior. Since this was intended to be a lighter brunch, we wanted to avoid ordering anything too heavy. One thing that immediately caught our attention was their unique take on omelets. Instead of serving a traditional folded omelet, they present it almost like a sunny-side-up egg with all of the cooked ingredients beautifully arranged at Center of Omelette. It gives the dish a much fresher and more elegant presentation while allowing every ingredient to stand out like a flying saucer. For our brunch, we ordered the following: Jill's Combo - (Excellent) This combination was the perfect balance of both sweet and savory. The blueberry ricotta pancake was light, fluffy, and full of fresh blueberry flavor without being overly sweet. The eggs were cooked perfectly, and the accompanying breakfast sides rounded out a satisfying but not overly heavy brunch. If you're visiting for the first time, this is an excellent introduction to what BlueBerry Social has to offer. Hash brown tote was delicious and crunchy. Farm Fresh Veggie Omelette Scramble - (Excellent) This was probably the most visually appealing dish on the table. Unlike a traditional folded omelet, the eggs were presented with beautifully cooked vegetables surrounding the rich. The avocado, zucchini, mushrooms, onions, peppers, tomatoes, spinach, and sweet corn all tasted incredibly fresh, making every bite colorful, flavorful, and surprisingly light. It was a healthy dish that never sacrificed flavor. It too has that delicious crunchy hash brown. Brisket Hash + Omelette - (Excellent) Easily one of our favorite dishes of the morning. The slow-braised brisket was tender, juicy, and full of flavor, pairing perfectly with the crispy potatoes and vegetables. together with the brisket to create a rich, comforting bite every time. It too has that crispy hash brown. Iced Latte - (Great) Smooth, balanced, and refreshing without being overly bitter. It was exactly what you would expect from a quality café latte. Blueberry Crumble Latte - (Excellent) This turned out to be the surprise favorite among our drinks. The blueberry flavor was subtle and natural without tasting artificial, while the crumble notes added just enough sweetness to make it unique. It was both creative and delicious. Matcha Latte - (Great) Rich matcha flavor with a smooth, creamy finish. It wasn't overly sweet, allowing the natural earthiness of the matcha to come through nicely. Overall, BlueBerry Social exceeded our expectations and provided one of the best brunch experiences we've had in quite some time. The restaurant offers a refreshing twist on traditional breakfast favorites, with beautiful presentation, fresh ingredients, and excellent execution throughout the menu. Every dish looked as good as it tasted, and the specialty coffee drinks were equally impressive. Our favorites were the Brisket Hash + Omelette, Farm Fresh Veggie Omelette Scramble, and the Blueberry Crumble Latte. Combined with the bright atmosphere and friendly service, it made for the perfect light brunch before our birthday dinner. BlueBerry Social easily earns a well-deserved 5-star rating from us.
