I really didn't like French Corner in SON (School of Nursing) at first, because I thought all of the food was kind of blah. But after working in the TMC for 3 years, I have come to appreciate the consistency, freshness, and chicken salad at French Corner. There are hot entrees daily, usually some kind of pasta or perhaps enchiladas (random, I know), as well as pizza and calzones. They have a daily special with either the hot plate option+drink+side or pizza+side+drink for $5ish (I've only gotten it a few times). There are ready made sandwiches (roast beef, veggie, chicken salad, tuna salad, turkey), and ready made salads available a la carte such as chicken salad, greek salad, spinach salad, pasta salad, fruit salad, etc. My favorite at FC, however, is the salad trio. You get to pick 3 salads from the salad bar for $5.99, I usually get the chicken salad, greek salad, and fruit or hummus. The chicken salad is so good because they use strips of chicken, not chunks. And it doesn't have too much mayo! The owner/manager (I think his name is Ahmed?) at this French Corner location is super nice, you get a 10% discount if you are a student. They also have Zapp's chips (YESSSS!!!), including my all-time favorite flavor of salt and black pepper. They have some desserts, usually brownies and cookies, available by the register. The only downer is that today I noticed that they started charging for water, $0.50 a cup! Wow, the economy must be hurting. read more

Open until 3:30 PM...but they might as well be closed by 2:30 PM. I came here today for lunch with a friend and I was expecting something french...everything was sold out. So I got 2 slices of pizza and a salad. The prices aren't bad but they didn't have much selection by the time I came. I'll give it another try maybe at an earlier time. Just a walk down from the sky bridge is this little cafe in the UT Nursing school. I like to get my Hazelnut flavored Seattle's best coffee in the morning for just an even dollar with taxes. They even have the different flavored creamers which is a lot better than what I pay for at Starbucks. For lunch, you can't beat the daily specials that they have. They have kabobs, lasagna, fried shrimp and more. The salads and fruit are always fresh and the price that everything is listed at is much better than many other cafeterias we have in the hospitals. I have to admit having the name, "The French Corner" is pretty awesome. Yet it doesn't make it fancy. The decor of the restaurant is plain and ordering is confusing. I ordered the Texas burger with fries and it was bland. However, the fries were excellent and I would definitely come back here for the fries. read more

Ate lunch at French Corner today. Our waitress was very quick to take our drink orders. Love their iced tea. I ordered the Chicken Strip Wrap. Service was very quick. The wrap was very tasty. All the ingredients were very fresh. I ate here a month or so again, and if I had written a review back then, it would be the same as this one. The place is not crowded at lunch (oops, maybe I shouldn't be saying that!) The manager, Manny, came over and introduced himself and asked how we were doing, and asked how the food was. He was very pleasant. I highly recommend this place. The only drawback (which is not really a drawback!) is that it's too close to my job - my car doesn't have time for the A/C to cool down! read more

This is by far the worst place to eat! I ordered a cheeseburger and when I went to bite into it, I realized the bread was extremely soggy and the burger patty was filled of grease/water or what ever. It was like a "sponge burger!" So grossed out. I took it back and the employee there had the nerve to tell me it was juice from the burger and that they have the best quality of meat. I then asked him how are the burgers prep and what do you keep it in to keep them moist? He told me they put the patty in water to keep it moist! Ummm no thank you! I didn't want a sponge burger. I ordered a panini here and the guy just starting making it without asking me one question or telling me what was on it. What did I get? I got a poor excuse for a vietnamese(banh mi) sandwich! I went to lunch yesterday with a good friend of mine and she usually picks the spots because she's pretty good at picking yummy spots. Yesterday's choice was The French Corner Cafe and Pizza. This restaurant is located in first floor of UT School Of Nursing. I am a very picky eater and had lots of questions about the vegetarian sandwiches that were on the menu. Pierre answered all of my questions and even let me have a small sample of an item I wasn't sure about. I choose the Brie Cheese and Avocado vegetarian panini with Zapp's chips and Tazo Peach Iced tea. It was delicious! Everything is made in house so the ingredients were fresh. The tea was amazing and to top it off right before we left I ordered a Parfait with fresh fruit and granola! I love going to places where the vibe is great and the people are even greater and that's exactly what you will get if you happen to stop by The French Corner Cafe and Pizza. Tried the location at UCT today, it was horrible!! After all these times of smelling the great food. I has the French Dip panini. It was cold and cheese not melted. The au jus was greasy. Worst of all I felt sick afterwards. Waste of $7. I'll go hungry next time or walk to the hospitals. read more

The new owner (or manager I think) is arrogant, mean and unfriendly! Also, the place is overpriced for the quality of food served. I am writing this review after a series of bad experiences in the past month or two. My several friends share the same opinion and we have decided to not visit French Corner in the future ever. I work at one of the area hospitals and periodically walk over to the Nursing School location for vegetarian options. I don't know what's happening, but lately they run out of items and its only noon or they can't complete the order and want to charge you FULL price! How do you offer a certain salad, but you don't have all the fixings? This location has to improve, if they want my continued business. read more

The French Corner at UT Nursing school is a great place to grab a quick meal and go! I love the variety of food options, especially the shawarma on Tuesdays & Thursdays. The chicken salad here is SO good. I have been coming here for years just to get this chicken salad. I am not really a chicken salad kind of person, I don't care for mayo or mayo based salads. The sandwiches are very good and the prices are affordable. With that said, stay away from the food bar area! I've tried the pizza, the lasagna, and the grilled chicken breast with rice and vegetables. The pizza and the lasagna are definitely the cheap-frozen kind. I was horrified to realize that I had just paid $4 for 6oz of STOUFFER'S lasagna. I ate way too much Stouffer's in my younger days and you can't fool me. Now, the sandwiches. The very first time I walked in I noticed 90% of customers bypassing the food bar and heading straight to the sandwich kiosk; I should have taken the hint. The Tuna Salad sandwich is really good; much better than anything Subway can offer. The Chicken Salad sandwich was OK. It was too sloppy and greasy; they need a better recipe, but a decent attempt nonetheless. Overall decent place, but nothing special. The cold sandwiches are $4.50 and the hot ones are $6.50.
