I have been waiting to really gather my thoughts on Fritzler to try and give it a fair and honest review. I have several pro's and con's I have found with the farm and a majority of them aren't to the fault of Fritzler, but more to the fault of others and the nature of anything haunted. First I would like to point out that despite any problems or issues that I ran in to, the staff is very friendly and will take steps to work the problems. The main food stalls also have great service with upfront and open admittance to shortcomings or outages before you try to order the food ro stand in line.
For a farm park and corn maze, I think the property is actually pretty well set up. Things are organized including the parking which is a huge advantage in actually getting into the park. In reading some of the other reviews, there is mention of people not knowing where to go. I found this to be a very flawed observation as EVERYTHING is well lit with signs and instructions. I don't really see how anyone has any trouble finding anything unless they aren't paying attention or feel entitled to something they aren't. We bought the season haunt pass and never had any issues waiting in line to get our tickets or getting our picture done. It was all emailed when we signed up and with simple instructions to follow it was never a problem. Even at the peak time on a Saturday night, the longest we ever had to wait for tickets was about 6 or 7 minutes.
On the note of peak Saturday nights, I can't stress enough the concept of common sense when visiting here and what to expect. Like any other place during Halloween, there will be lines and waiting to get into the main attraction. That is of no fault to Fritzler, that is the nature of a "theme park". That being said, the line for the haunted corn maze when we got in line extended a good 150 yards from the entrance with a solid 250-300 people in it. Even with that, we only waited in line about 35-40 minutes, which isn't bad all things considered. People in costumes we're going around scaring people in line which was fun at times and the people watching of the teeny boppers complaining about being cold and scared is always entertaining.
The maze itself is where some of the downsides come from for me. The maze is actually pretty fun as a maze, but it was a bit underwhelming to the amount of "haunted" it has. Going through it, which they bunch you into a large group which i'll talk to later as another downside, and there just isn't much scaring going on. Occasionally someone would jump out or be standing in the rows, but overall there wasn't much haunting going on. We had period of walking for a few minutes with nothing. On note to the group thing, the problem with anything haunted and having a group, is ruining the event of getting haunted. If someone is 20 feet in front of you and someone jumps out to scare them, then that's just ruined for you and nothing happens. Going in large groups like they do (10-15 people) that happens alot. I recommend you wait a little bit for the group to go ahead a ways and then try to go through alone. Greater chance of being scared.
Once through the maze you come to the Scream Acres which to me was really cool. It is a series of smaller haunted houses each with a different theme, that you go through while still travelling another corn maze. Some of them were really elaborate and had actors scaring you, fairly successfully. Again the smaller group thing applies here and is easier to achieve as the haunted houses have doors to close the groups in. Just wait and let them go ahead then do it alone. Much better.
The normal maze during the daytime took us about 45 minutes to walk through, and the haunted maze with Scream acres was about an hour and half total. If you can go on a night with a slight breeze as the wind blowing through the corn makes it really creepy when you are alone and away from the group. Overall, I rather enjoyed it. The food is fairly good, only moderately priced high as a Halloween park might do, the lines are what I would expect for this type of thing. The rest of the park is more geared toward kids or younger folk with some small games and pedal cars. We got a campfire one night as well, which was really great and one of the best parts of the farm. Staff is great and polite and happy to help anyway they can. read more
