Waitress & Manager was very apologetic, but had no authority to comp anything.... Was told owner was on his way... Never showed after an hour. We just paid our bill and will never go back! Horrible! This was the worst service and food was not that good. I have good memories of fun times here. This is not the way I remember this place. A bunch of barely twenty one year olds with no Adult in charge. People behind me didn't even eat but one bite of their food! This was incredibly the biggest disaster for supper. My 10 year H.S. reunion was here. We all went out on the S.S. Lillypad for a sunset cruise with drinks followed by free admission into the Frog Tavern for drinks and music by some local band. Drinks were poured well and the atmosphere was fun. Glad to know this place exists. Might go back if I am in the area again as a hear they have good burgers. The Boat-in parking made this place all the more charming with its Lake Wawasee feel! read more

You can choose to eat inside with a/c or outside along the channel. Both have a nice view of the channel. I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich and onion petals...very tasty. Husband ordered the bbq hamburger with bacon...he said it was very good. It's a thick burger! My dad ordered their famous chicken..he loved it. We were there around 7pm, wasn't very busy but it took awhile for our food. Probably do to the huge party that placed their order prior to ours. Always a favorite! We love sitting outside watching the drunk boaters trying to park their boats! Probably the best atmosphere in the area. The food is ok. My favorite dish would probably be the taco pizza, other than that it is all mediocre. Service is never fast, but that is ok when you are there to just sit outside. The onion rings at The Frog are the absolute best I've ever had. The breading on the rings is light, fluffy, but crisp and very tasty. And the rings? They are huge! I make it a point to ride my Harley the thirty miles each way at least once every summer just for those onion rings. And it sure doesn't hurt that sometimes we guys can feast our eyes on the bikini clad gals who get off the boats and come inside for a drink or two. I've lived in the area my whole life and this is the place to avoid unless in the summertime on the weekend you want to be surrounded by way to many over indulging crowded 21 year olds. This is not the place to go if you want good food and atmosphere for a date night. The last time I went here there were 2 different fights that eventually emptied the bar. There 2 waitresses were stressed to the max and unable to keep up the tables they had no matter how hard they tried but our waitress is there only reason I gave this 1 star. If you go to the bar to get a drink after waiting so long the bartenders were both rude and acted annoyed I was bothering them to buy a drink. I've been here many times and have yet to have a great experience. O am totally shocked if anyone would ever even consider giving them more than 1 star. read more

Waited at a table outdoors for the S.S Lillypad which was late boarding and two servers passed by multiple times and none of them even acknowledged us, even when we waved them over. It was 4:30 pm and the floor was still sticky from God knows what. On the boat, it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for months. The meat was dry and the rest of the food subpar. I went here for a relaxing dinner on the 4th of July and it started bad and went downhill from there. It took forever for the waitress in our section to come over to us - to the point where we asked the waitress in the section over to let her know we were ready to order. Our food took forever and then when it finally came my order was wrong and I sent it back. I ordered a taco salad and when it came back from being fixed and I started to look at it, I realized it was nothing like the description on the menu. It was missing half of the ingredients but being hungry and upset at this point, I just ate it. I ended up paying $10 for some lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and a few pieces of chicken in a tortilla bowl and called it a 'taco salad'. We ordered a few drinks that were over priced so when our bill finally came it was outrageously expensive for the service, food and experience. The one positive thing I will say is we sat on the water and the atmosphere was nice but I also think that can be found at a different restaurant. The only reason I gave this restaurant one star because our waitress was fantastic, but otherwise this place has some serious issues. We arrived there between 6 & 6:30 Friday night and it is summer so expected to wait for our food awhile anyway. The waitress said food will take an hour so OK we weren't in a hurry so we were OK with that. We finally were served our food about 8:30 and some of it was OK and some not fit to eat. They did have a group go out on the Lillypad soon after we got there and that's why the waitress said it would take an hour for our food since they had apparently prepared food for that group? My question is ? why would you take on a whole restaurant and a catering on a boat if you do not have the means to do it well? I know the kitchen is small so if you are going to have a restaurant then take of the people in it! Our waitress was in tears and we felt horrible for her and what she has to put up with! I've been here over a dozen times and I got to say it's either hit or miss. Some nights we get our food and its great! Other nights we wait and wait and wait then get cold food. Had reservations for a party of not quite 20 after my son's wedding rehearsal. Waited almost 2 hours for over well done but cold hamburger and everyone else's food to arrive. Then, my wife and I got our check (everyone was paying for their individual parties). They had the audacity to include an 18% gratuity. I would not have minded this if it were not for the fact that we waited 2 hours, food was sub-par at best, we had reservations and the manager(may have been owner) was too busy cruising the lake instead of running his business. Very unhappy indded. They did, however, reduce everyone's bill by half when I told the very nice waitress that I was unhappy. I experienced the WORST customer service at this restaurant and unfortunately, it happened to fall on the night of my coed bachelor/bachelorette party. We spent the entire day at Lake Wawasee and decided to give The Frog a try. We had reservations for a table of 10 people and arrived 15 minutes early. It took our waiter nearly 20 minutes JUST to get our drink order and another 20 minutes until we actually got them... Since it took him so long, the waiter apologized and told us he wouldn't charge us for drinks when literally more than HALF of us ordered water... Ok? Sure enough, he takes our orders since we decided to skip over appetizers because our drinks took so long. A half hour goes by and we STILL don't have our food although the table next to us had been seated and served in a timely manner-- we finally decided to bring this to our waiter's attention and he went to grab his manager. The manager explained to us that they have had a very busy night and the kitchen was backed up, which didn't make sense considering the tables around us had been served before we were and we had gotten there FIRST! She told us it might be another 45 minutes to an hour before we received our food and once we heard that, we were out the door. Terrible, TERRIBLE customer service. Will NEVER go here again... I really hope the owner reads this. This place is in need of a Bar Rescue! Service was so bad with the exception of one waitress who said she has been there I believe since May. What we witnessed was a male bartender leaning against the bar. We were there a total of 4 hours and did not witness him serve ONE drink. The only thing we saw was him cut up lemons and limes,but, that was when we first arrived. He looked bored despite a fairly busy bar. Table service was the worst I have ever seen. First of all, you don't know who works there as they were wearing very casual clothes. We also witnessed the staff more interested in watching something on a customer's phone versus waiting on people. We saw MANY people who were sitting at tables go to the bar to get a drink because wait staff was nowhere to be found. We also saw people walk out after not being waited on for a half hour. We ordered a pizza. Pizza only comes in 2 sizes. Would not recommend pizza at all. The crust is clearly not homemade. Very chewy. There was very little sauce on it. I honestly have had better frozen pizza. As has been previously mentioned in other reviews, no one was in charge. Staff did whatever they wanted. The bar could be succesful with management oversight. We saw a lot of staff which normally would be good for a restaurant. In this case, it was wasted money by the owner. The live band was really good. We also saw 5 guys with Security t-shirts. Made us wonder if they were expecting trouble. Not the case, good crowd. There was a cover charge for band. Not a good idea at all for this place. If wait staff just waited on people, bar tabs would be MUCH higher. Sadly, we will not be back and we heard others say the same thing. read more

We flew in to Lake Wawasee Sat May 25 and decided to stop in the Frog for lunch. When we got there it was not crowded at all, about 11:30 AM. We found a table outside, that had been cleaned off, most were not cleaned off from other guest. Once we sat down several waitresses walked right past several times not even acknowledging we were even there. The only person that greeted us was the guy helping tie the incoming boats.Finally after about 20 min a little bubble head brown hair girl said that she would be right with us. It was another 10-15 min before she came back! We finally got our drinks and then food but it took well over another 20-30 min. We were never asked once if we wanted a refill, and at $2.49 for drinks a cup of ice tea I would expect a refill ! We had asked for commandments and did not receive them either. It did not take them long to bring the whopping bill though! For three of us just ordering lunch sandwiches the bill was over $32 dollars! The prices for sandwiches are a plain rip off for what they were ! Over $8 dollars for a pork tenderloin and some fries ! I will not be going back to the Frog again. It seems unless you float in on a boat you are over looked. We were dressed for cooler temps because we flew our airplanes in! We flew in last fall and were greeted well and the prices had not gone sky high ! What ever has changed there is a bad thing for word of mouth customers. I have already described this poor visit to a lot of locals and they have also agreed the prices are outrageous at the Frog and the service has gone way down hill.I was referred to another place ironically right across the street for our next visit to Syracuse for lunch or just a nice meal and relax time. Shame on the management for allowing this to happen ! I refused to leave a tip for the poor service although a tip of advice would have been something I should have left. read more
