My friend was headed upstairs for a meeting. So, I stopped in here and met another friend that happened to be near by. I noticed they a few Great Notion beers on tap, this excited me. The bartender was, Joe. He was excellent and offered me a taste of each to make it easier to choose which one I preferred. I decided to also get some food. My friend had already eaten, so I had an entire personal size pie to myself. It came out quick and it was sooo good, I ate the whole thing! I would 100% recommend this place. The vibe was cool and relaxed mixed with some great tunes. read more

Shut "The Front Door". I went in with a group of 14 other people on a Monday evening for dinner. Monday evening - not busy at all. Three of us in the party decided to split a pizza. We decided on the "Capo", basically a combo with peperoni and sausage, olives, and red and green peppers. Cooked peppers always taste bitter to me, so I asked to have the peppers put only only half the pizza so I could skip them. 35 minutes later the pizza shows up with lots of green and red peppers all over the pizza, and pepperoni only on half. The waiter tried to serve it to others in the group, and needed to be redirected to us. He set the pizza in front of me, and WITHOUT apology, said the person working in the kitchen misread his note and made it incorrectly. The waiter did NOT offer to have the pizza remade, and did NOT ask if we wanted it. Just set it down and left. So I got what I did not order and did not want to eat. To add insult to injury, we were charged a 20% gratuity. Didn't matter how bad the service was - just pay it. The mis-made pizza was not discounted. Wrong thing but made to pay full price for it. Wrong pizza offered to wrong customers at full price and full tip. This place does not care about customers. I'm not going back. Neither should you. read more

Cool ass little Italian joint right below the Reef. I ordered the cobb salad with a couple modifications. It was huge and delicious! I was also able to try the garlic bread. It came with a good helping of marinara sauce. The meatballs were ok, they were on the dry side but had a good amount of sauce and cheese in top. There was only one server and he did an amazing job maintaining our drinks, checking up on us and serving others diners that were eating. I look forward to going back. read more

This is a great small place on 6th St. perched at the bottom of the stairs to the Reef. It can get a bit crowded this time of year because the patio dining is closed. Decent discount on well drinks during 3-6 M-F. Always great high temperature pizza. Best recommendation is to get two personal pizzas instead of the large one. The small ones are of higher quality and taste better. All of them have the delicious burned edges and bottoms. The "dough is great" is heard whenever people take their first bite. The chicken Caesar salad is a fan favorite. Our best experience has been with their Goodfella pizza. We have heard fabulous praise for their Mac & Cheese stuffed pizza. read more

Trivia nights on Wednesdays was so fun!! The workers are great and very laid back. It's a cool place to go and hangout with friends - it's not a big restaurant so I don't recommend groups. Really surprised about this one. Based on other reviews and Yelp Pictures I was optimistic that this would be a hit. Sadly I came up short on that. First issue if you will was the Tomato Soup I ordered. The picture on Yelp looked amazing, the product received looked and tasted more like pizza sauce. Still suspect I was duped. Nonetheless, I ordered a Margherita of sorts with pesto drizzle. It came out slightly different from that. It wasn't bad, but then again it wasn't great. Room for improvement here. All in all, it was ok. A few tweaks and this place and subsequent review can go from ok to fantastic. read more

Friendly service and cozy space. We enjoyed the tasty IPAs, delicious garlic bread and pizza, and amazing jalapeño poppers. Four of us loved the Goodfella pizza. The crust was as good as the toppings, the mozzarella was high quality (not stretchy/rubbery), and there was just the right amount of artichokes. The poppers were more like stuffed jalapeños, spicy and super yummy. And we really liked the Triceratops IPA. We'll be back the next time we're in Boise. read more

Ooooh... the Food and price were great! Also, there are lots of options! We were so hungry and we saw this spot and decided to stop and eat supper there. We were when we entered the store and told us when we were ready they would take our order. They were very friendly and talked to us off and on the whole time, we were there waiting on our order and eating supper. The mac & cheese pizza was a game changer!!! I think that everyone in the area should give this place a try. It's just a plain wonderful experience with a great atmosphere and super good pizza with a lot of choices. read more

Pretty tasty pizza! I've been to Front Door plenty of times and it has never disappointed. All of their pizzas are delightful. They are also massive if you get the biggest size (yay leftovers)! The service is always great here. They're very accommodating. My family could not get into a restaurant over the holidays and failed to make a reservation anywhere early enough. We called front door and they were short staffed, but willing to accommodate our family. It was very nice of them! They also usually have a great beer selection as well. read more

I really only have 1 rule when it comes to picking a great restaurant. I only need the people fixing and serving the food to care as much about it as I do. Ok - well - it can be better than that. And in this case it was. I came in for a quick lunch. I'm traveling from back east for work, my expectations were admittedly low. But Nathan, David & Lucas sort of blew me away. Who'd expect to be so excited by a club sandwich and a cup of tomato basil soup? I was. Look. You can see why. I should've known by the look on the chef's face when he brought it out. Some of the best pizza I have had anywhere. A group of us ordered a couple pizzas, garlic bread and a few beers. The pizza crust was crisp, light and obviously fresh. The red sauce sweet and full of flavor not acidic like many others. Excellent selection of beer. Very impressed with the local selection. What a great experience!! The bartender, Isaiah, is an exceptional waiter - personable, knowledgeable and a good listener! Refills were delivered promptly. He and the kitchen staff took my food allergy questions seriously & double-checked ingredients to ensure I had amazing choices and could eat safely with the others in my party. And the food !?!?!?!? Really, REALLY good pizza! As transplants, we had not yet found a favorite pizza place, but that search is OVER! Who knew a "mac & cheese" pizza could be so flavorful? Even the adults were delighted! The "under 10 crowd" declared it "magnificent!" (yes, really!). And the Bootlegger may be THE perfect bbq chicken pizza!!! The ambiance is pub-like but completely family friendly (before 10 pm). OK... admittedly I have one situation that wasn't ideal... We had called ahead for reservations and were walking to the restaurant... and... (even though using our phone's navigation app) walked right past!! Obviously, we did find the right "front door". Despite this small initial snafu, we count this a 10/10 experience and I will look forward to a return!! If YOU are looking for the "Front Door", be sure to look for the door below the sign for the "Reef"!! I'm quite certain you will find it worth your search!! read more

We were headed to the restaurant upstairs for lunch but the sign said they were closed, so we hung a left and discovered one of Boise's gems. Diego was at the bar and welcomed us in. We told him it was our first time, so he took the time to tell us about all the food and drink options. We found a cozy spot near a window and enjoyed an N/A beer while we waited for our sandwiches and soup (It was a tough choice! The menu has lots of delicious-sounding items.) The food arrived and did not disappoint. Five stars for the food, availability of non-alcohol beer, and excellent service, and an extra star for Diego's choice in music. This is a new favorite. We look forward to visiting again with our kids and parents. read more

This is our favorite restaurant for pizza and a good selection of craft beers. The Irish Idahoan pizza is our favorite, by far. We are vegetarians so we substitute red onion and bell pepper for steak and bacon. The crust is perfect as is the combination of veggies and cheese on top. The waiters are always friendly and helpful (Kenzie was especially friendly and professional). To walk down into the restaurant it looks like a neighborhood bar. But it is soooo much more. read more

I walked in, not sure what to get. The bartender asked me what flavors I like. She went away and made me this epic cocktail. She told me all the things she added, and it was clear, these bartenders are the real deal. They know their stuff. I drank my delightful cocktail way too fast. But it was so damn good. The vibe is fun. They bartenders interact with everyone and do all kinds of cool things with cool ingredients and tell you about it all. Perfect spot for a loungey date night, or a meet up with a friend. There is no food. But plenty of spots on 8th in walking distance. This is probably one of the best cocktail bars I've ever been to. ... and I've been to a lot. :)

Like this bar changed my whole perspective on the whole state of Idaho being a California transplant, which doesn't hold that much weight with other people in Idaho, but I don't care. I will always come here anytime I come downtown and I will always overtip because the likes of Ruby and Darien never disappoint, including the regulars, whom are also always nice. For every overrated cactus bar with the worst service, there is the mode lounge which sets the standard for everything in Boise.

A small window in the door opened and we had to provide a password to gain entry. (Initially our large group had to reserve 3 time slots and we would be seated separately.) I was in the first group. We were let into a small area with floor to ceiling bookcases. Of course there was a book that once pulled, opened a secret door to the bar within. The ambiance was dim lighting and groups of comfortable seating areas. The waiter was very attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks on the menu. I started with a mocktail that could be made vegan by omitting the egg white. Beautifully presented with a flower design. It was sweet and it was tart. The second drink I got was a cocktail that was smooth with a perfect amount of sweet. My friends got cocktails in their unique glasses. When our next group came through, they were led into a room. After a while, one friend came out to say hello to us. The waiter noticed that we knew each other and told my group to follow him. The room was dimly lit and was furnished with comfortable armchairs and couches. Our third group was able to join us in the room and we were able to mingle seated or standing. The different drinks that were ordered were so cool. A smoky bubble was set on top of a cone shaped glass that resembled an ice cream cone. I had a couple of friends that ordered gin drinks and they were served in a bathtub complete with rubber ducky! This was such a fun and special way to celebrate a friend's birthday! The service was superb!

We both got the traditional eggs Benedict... and I ate maybe 15% of my breakfast and just stopped. My husband ate all of his... but mostly because he was just hungry... Much like our Labrador who will eat absolutely anything! Haha. But he said it was only OK. He rated it a 5/10. What he disliked the most was the potatoes. They were fairly hard/tough and tasted like they were fried in old oil and sitting under heat lamps for two hours before we got them. They were very dehydrated as well. For me... The hollandaise sauce was fresh, but had no flavor. It needed more lemon or salt or something. The ham was odd... I'm a little too salty. It seemed like Hillshire Farms sliced ham. Not something you would expect at a nice restaurant in your eggs Benedict. Also, I ordered an Arnold Palmer... And it was so sour that I had to send it back. I poured like a heaping teaspoon of sugar into it, and it didn't even make a difference.... It was that sour. It actually started to make my stomach hurt a little. So I sent it back. And the waitress was very nice, and didn't charge me for it. The service was good... But they cram everyone in there on one side of the restaurant... at least outside. I have no idea why... They have all this space in front of their restaurant and yet they try and cram everybody right next to each other. It was very annoying, and made me just wanna leave. They have many tables on the other side like 10 feet away... But they insisted on cramming everybody into the same small area. And you could tell nobody wanted to be that close to one another. I'm not sure if they do this to make it easier for their servers... Or to make the restaurant look busy. Either way, it's a practice that they really should stop. My advice to the restaurant... Utilize your space outside in front, stop cramming people so close together. When you have to get up and move your chair so someone can get to their table... it's ridiculous! On a positive note... Their coffee was actually really good! Some of the best that we've had in a restaurant in many many years. And I know, I mentioned it above, but I should mention it again... The weight staff was wonderful. From the girl who greeted us at the front podium, to our waitress, and the waitressing training. Everyone was wonderful. So, to end this review... I can only comment on the breakfast. We didn't have anything else there, and maybe it will be good... But I'm not sure if I'm willing to give this place another try. Good luck!
