    Calamari meal
    Jeremy O.

The calamari were room temperature and not very good at all. Calamari is not usually that thick. The only thing that saved the meal were the gator tots. They were perfectly fried and held together very well. Also another note about the calamari and tater tots was that neither was greasy at all, considering that they are deep fried, which was a plus.

Seafood in the Simpsons Fast Food Boulevard! The Frying Dutchman is an actual restaurant in The Simpsons TV series and right in Universal Sutdios, you can try it out for yourself! If you feel like seafood, this is the place for you. It might seem a little scary getting fast food seafood in the food court at a theme park, but it's all deep fried so it's pretty safe. You can have shrimp, calamari, battered fish or clam chowder here. Baskets come with tater tots, hushpuppies and tarter sauce ranging in price from $4 for the soup up to $14 for a combo basket. It's all deep fried but most of it seems fresh and tasty! Not a bad option if you're in the mood.

Calamari plate, best deal on the menu

Why this isn't a more popular location inside "Simpsons Land", I won't understand. We went in around 1:30 for lunch one day to see a large line for people waiting for Krustyburgers along with chicken and waffles from Cletus' right next door. But there was only one person in line for the Dutchman. After seeing the prices were pretty reasonable for what you get and the fact that it would only take a few minutes, I figured I would give it a shot. The best deal by far was the calamari so I decided to go with that. It comes as a "platter" with one hush puppy, tartar or cocktail sauce, a lemon and fries on the side for less than $9. I also decided to try the clam chowder just to see if it holds any sort of candle to what we have in New England. Service was quick and I was sitting within two minutes of ordering and paying. The calamari itself was a bit strange as they come in strips and not a typical ring like you'd expect. I don't know why they are shaped like this but I figured I would point this out since some may think they ordered clam strips instead. A bit too chewy and not crispy enough for my tastes and the fries were a tad soggy after sitting below the squid which softened them up by adding more oil The chowder I was very pleasantly surprised by, it was stocked full of big pieces of clams that you could actually see and the broth was the perfect consistency of cream and flour for thickness. Although I didn't get much hint of salt pork or bacon, this could pass at a reasonable price at a place like the 99 Restaurant in our neck of the woods. I could easily see Homer eating here for an endless buffet he never leaves and it comes Simpsons-approved.

    Shrimp, fish, calamari

I didn't know it was possible to mess up a fish fry, but this place did. The coconut shrimp was very good. The tots were crispy and not greasy. That's the best I can say. The calamari was tough and chewy. I was supposed to get clams in addition, but they were not served to me. The fish was a soggy, oily mess which told me the oil wasn't hot when the fish was fried. The hush puppy, a single hush puppy, was the strangest round ball of cornmeal my mouth has touched. It was disgusting. I walked away with a bonus cupcake which was average. The Buzz Cola was more cherry flavored than cola, but nothing like Cheerwine, for those of you who are familiar with it. It certainly wasn't cola, or Dr. Pepper, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. This place is definitely taking in the cash with the novelty.

Decent fish and tator tots from a quick serve venue in universal. It was one of the shortest lines of all the places inside Moes.

Hush puppies, only 2 came with the platter

In general, traditional British food is simpler and heavier than American food. It reminds us of American comfort food with interesting ingredients and sauces. Located in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade at Universal Islands of Adventure, the Three Broomsticks is a popular quick-service establishment featuring some traditional British cuisine. A team member in costume would typically be stationed at the front door, handing out menus for patrons to review while waiting in the short line that is situated inside the building. Upon entering, the interior with its decor and decorations is nothing short of striking. The pub doubles as an inn, stepping right off the pages of the Harry Potter books. The movie set, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, was based on the restaurant, which made it feel so authentic. Keep casting one's eyes upward and one can't help but notice the dimmed lighting vibe, beautifully weathered rafters, and cast-iron chandeliers. The ordering process was easy via the Universal app and delivered right to your table. My partner and I decided on their Fish and Chips and slices of Watermelon. Our fish came with tartar sauce (a French addition), of course, and our chips (fries). Lemon wouldn't be usual. Both dishes were crispy, fresh, and genuinely delicious. They were perfectly "on brand" for an authentic, old-school English lunch. The service was extremely quick. The staff were friendly and helpful, even during the busy lunch hour. Great experience because one actually feels like you're in the movie!

Guinness Beef stew- daughters was disappointed this time. It was lukewarm at best and mostly veggies, only two pieces of meat and a third fatty piece. We did not complain about anything or ask to replace, and of course didn't hold anything against the server as she was great and majority was fine. The fish and chips were crispy, hot, and satisfying after a long day in the park. The shepherd's pie was hearty and comforting, with a rich savory filling that felt like classic British comfort food. Both dishes were filling and fit the immersive theme of the area perfectly. For dessert, the Butterbeer potted cream was a standout. It was smooth, creamy, and packed with that signature Butterbeer flavor without being overwhelmingly sweet. The ice cream was also a refreshing treat and a great way to cool down in the Florida heat. Service was efficient, and the staff handled the crowds well despite the popularity of the area. The atmosphere is what really makes the experience special. From the detailed theming to the views of Hogsmeade, it truly feels like stepping into the Harry Potter universe. I had my 82 yr old father and 49 yr old Down's syndrome brother with me. My dad's mobility scooter ran out of power and there were no outlets to be found. I was pushing the scooter for an hour as my father struggled to walk with his cane when we reached the steps of the restaurant. The manager said she was more than willing to let us charge the scooter as we ate which was above and beyond what they needed to do. It went further. I discussed how bad of a day we were having and she brought us an appetizer and said she hoped that might help in leasing the bad day. Another employee helped my ailing father up some stairs and to the table. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. Instead of making us walk back to the front where the scooter was charging, another manager brought it to our table. I don't think they realized how much that meant to us and me. Both my dad and brother have challenges and I have to help a lot which I am willing to do but by Margaritaville and their staff giving me a small respite and helping us out, it meant the world to all three of us by helping out when they had 0 obligation to. Friendly staff and good food. Please give them a chance and I guarantee they will move heaven and earth to make your experience an amazing one! Ty! Forever grateful and thankful, Mark Harris

Yes, I know youa re paying theme park pricing but at least for that you typically get some sort of presentation. These were served in a plastic cup, that of which you would recive at a pool bar at an inexpensive resort. They looked nothing like the photo. And for "blended" drinks they were not mixed at all - like literally separated ingrediance. they are also filled so high the you can't pick it up without spilling it. And again we ordered blended so they were sticky. The server spolled some on the ground (whihc was sand) in bring them to us and I spilt on my self when trying to take a sip (because no straws were offered to us until we asked) The food comes out in to-go plates complete with lid so it's soggy to start from the enclosed container keep the heat and mister in. No presentation whatsoever - you can use a covering to shield food from the elements and bugs that is more interested and wont harm the food...this is not a new concept. Food was really bland and flavorless. I truly just do not have anything else to say about it. Just really forgettable. We were not impressed by anything and won't be back unless a visitor (we are newly local) wants to go here. And we will eat something prior to avoid ordering as much as possible.

Since it was the last day of Bite 30, my dad took advantage of that. We started with the cauliflower bites, which reminded me of a bang bang shrimp. It was sweet and spicy, but with fried cauliflower instead of shrimp. It was enjoyable. For entree, my dad had the salmon, while I took the chicken sliders. (3 for 10 on Mondays). The sliders were fried chicken in hot honey with pickles and slaw on a buttermilk biscuit. The fried chicken was fine and more enjoyable with the pickle and slaw, but the biscuits was a bit crumbly. I enjoyed a piece of my dad's salmon more, which tasted good with the fried rice. For dessert, we had the peanut butter and chocolate cake, which was a bit dry, but still enjoyable with the chocolate sauce. The peanut butter mousse made it a bit moister. While it was an enjoyable meal, my body is gonna punish me on the healing process, especially after having a sweet coconut mojito (13 dollars) too. It was surprisingly quiet inside, especially for Father's Day. I ordered the tuna nachos, which caught me off guard since it wasn't something I expected to see on the menu. They were decent, but I thought they could have used a little more depth. I ended up using the dip from the pot stickers to add a bit more flavor. I wasn't a fan of the chicken piccata. I substituted noodles for the potatoes, but the dish just didn't stand out to me. My family ordered their steaks medium well, but they came out well done. We also ordered a smoked Old Fashioned, but it arrived without the smoke. After the drink was more than halfway finished, our server came over with the smoking tools to add the smoke tableside. We asked if she could instead bring a new drink prepared correctly, and she did. The rest of my family said they enjoyed their meals, but based on my experience, I don't plan to return. If you enjoy classic, straightforward dishes and a quieter atmosphere, this may be a good fit for you.
