Despite living in asheboro, we've only visited this gem once. It's 100% a mistake on our part. Each meal comes with smashed potatoes and slaw--I don't try the slaw (I don't like it...picky eater problems) but my husband said it was fantastic! It had crunch instead of being too wet or too mushy. The smashed potatoes were very good! Potatoes served like that aren't usually my thing but they were delicious and well seasoned. I ordered the shrimp and corn while my husband got the crab cakes. Some places are mostly filling with hints of crab, Full Moon was the opposite--maximum amount of crab with the right amount of "cake". The shrimp was great and perfectly steamed. The corn came out piping hot! The service was fantastic. The seating is mostly bar tops which is cool and allows for the service to be seamless. Honestly it felt like a beach vacation on a Tuesday. Our next visit will be on a Tuesday so I can try the all you can eat crab legs. read more

I literally ate there 3 times during my 4 day stay because it was that amazing. I'm a huge foodie. Their Voodoo Shrimp is the best bbq shrimp I've ever had. Even better than Mr Bs Bistro in New Orleans. Pair that with their free potato salad and coleslaw, and get their French bread loaf to dip into the sauce. That's an unforgettable meal. The bread is hot and fresh with a buttery soft center and crisp exterior crust. Start with their charcoal oysters. Again. Best I've ever had. No joke. And to top it off the blackened branzino from their Friday special. I can't wait to get back there. As if the food wasn't enough, their service is top notch. I've had the steamed shrimp twice, and it is very good! Thr hush puppies are not included, and are extra, crispy, but no taste as well as the potatoes they give you.Wait staff is great! They offer really good mixed drinks! I'd reccomend the paradise, its strong, but yummy! I like that they have no step bar seats in the back too. read more

New to the area and heard this was a great place to get fish n chips so when a friend invited me to meet her for lunch on a Friday, I was super excited to try it. Inside is a huge bar and looks like all seating is at the bar. It had a Key West/marine/beach vibe to it and they play great music. The staff was attentive and friendly. Was given their house potatoes and Cole slaw with the Fish n Chips and everything was delicious. Very generous portions, food comes out hot and cooked perfectly. My second visit was just as delightful. Had the Shrimp Boil platter with corn, sausage and garlic toast. It was super yummy! Highly recommend! read more

Good food. Great service. OK atmosphere of maritime kitsch (lighting is way too bright which is made worse by the harsh "bright white" LED bulbs, overhead,). Fun bar seating for everyone makes for great conversations with strangers to meet new friends and easy conversations with the white stuff. The calamari was excellent. But be sure to order it with the sauce on the side because it is best served unadulterated. Too many yahoo's and American restaurants try to over sauce everything, especially calamari, which ruins it. The calamari here is outstanding and perfectly cooked ... Just hold the sauce. We love a wedge salad, and this may be one of the best I've had. Even the house salad is outstanding with the unusual surprise of candied pecans to add a bit of sweet and crunch. Nice touch. Our second time to eat at this location, third time to eat at a Full Moon Oyster Bar restaurant here in North Carolina. Definitely our favorite seafood place in NC at this point. I had the "Mooner's Fry Basket," which is basically just like the Admirals Feast at Red Lobster. My wife had char grilled oysters. I've ordered the same thing here every time, it's great: Fried oysters, popcorn shrimp, fried flounder, hush puppies and french fries. Basically a plate of delicious fried seafood. My wife liked her oysters, they were rich, but delicious. Grilled with a lot of grated Parmesan cheese and butter. For dessert we had the banana pudding cake, which comes down the street from Central Bakery. Truly some of the best desserts we've had at a restaurant! So if you come, be sure to save room for cake. That's a unique feature of the Full Moon Oyster Bar here in Asheville. All seating is at the bar, Beers are cold and great. Definitely a favorite place, on a weekend be sure to get here early! Excellent dinner last night at the new location of Full Moon Oyster Bar. We waited for 45 minutes because this place is hopping! The beautiful and large bar seating that wraps around the whole restaurant creates such an incredibly fun atmosphere. The food here is incredible. My entree, the crab stuffed salmon bellies was quite different. The description made it sound a lot heavier than it turned out to be. Even though it was a pasta based dish, the ingredients combined to make a refreshing, innovative, and delightful dish. I couldn't eat it all because I filled up on the complimentary potato salad and coleslaw. So tasty! My family all enjoyed their dishes as well. My only suggestion is to ensure they truly have the fresh fish that is written on their board. My dad had to change his selection twice because they had just run out of his first two choices. The prices here are hefty but it's really a destination, with the bar scene, the large fresh fish menu, and the time it takes to dine here. It was a treat for sure! read more

Just had Sunday lunch there with my family and thought some of you may find this helpful. We liked the pleasant attitude of the employees and the environment, seating and nice tv screens with sports to watch. From the meal perspective, we had the blackened chicken sandwich and poboy shrimp sandwiches and slaw. All was very good, In particular the poboy bread/roll was great. What we didn't like was chicken sandwich had cheese on it that was ordered specifically without. We also didn't like that out of the many screens to watch they decided to turn off the only NFL game showing and instead put up netflix Home Screen with no program selected. Since we were leaving anyway we didn't say anything but it stood out a little odd being Sunday prime time football season. read more

My husband, daughter and son-in-law and I went to the Full Moon Oyster Bar for the first time this past weekend, and it was a total win! The ambiance was great. My husband got shrimp and grits and pronounced it excellent. My s-i-l got a plateful of (boiled?) shrimp and gave it the same rating. Everyone was given little bowls of slaw and buttered potatoes, and we all loved them! My daughter got a house salad and there was plenty left to carry home. I especially liked the tartar sauce and the house-made dressings on my salad. The service was good, attentive, and courteous. We liked the set-up, sitting on the corner of their wrap-around bar so the four of us could chat with no trouble. We will definitely go back again and again! I recommend it for sure. read more
